This place is so small that customers almost start piling up. The very fact that it gets so cosy inside shows how delicious their sweet treats are. Even if you might not be crazy for the "brown gold", you should get a cup of their ice-cream that comes in three different flavours: white chocolate, dark chocolate or milk chocolate with liquorice - heavenly light and creamy and thousands of crispy chocolate bits inside! Each cup is 4,30 € and, thus, not more expensive than ice-cream from any other parlour in Finland (one scoop between 2 and 3 € is the rule, not the exception!).
I usually do not crave for chocolates, but if a unique flavour comes along, I seldom refuse. The lingonberry chocolates caught my curious eye and I totally enjoyed the white chocolate coating and the light pink lingonberry filling. It had a very nice and delicate nutty flavour that reminded me of wheat bran :o)! Much to my regret, 4 chocolates were 3,40 €. So pampering yourself at Pieni Suklaatehdas (or Swedish: Lilla Chokladfabriken) will always be on the pricey side. Nevertheless, if you ever go to lovely Porvoo, which is a must when travelling Finland, walk to the cathedral and just a few steps further you will be in front of this little paradise of chocolate! read more
