Had to make a lunch stop at Pietro's Pizza We ended up with the chicken bacon ranch, a pepperoni and a meat lovers, a mamas garden and a regular cheese to all share. We ate some at home and some at the store. The pizza is thin and crispy, flavorful with many options. We also got garlic knots, which I personally think could use a bit more garlic. The sauce for them (chefs kiss), was the star of the show. It was so good!! They also have deserts, pies and cheesecakes. We didn't get one cause we were so full! read more

Pietro's pizza is a busy place located on Main Street in downtown Hartford. I've only tried their pizza and garlic knots (both quite good) but their menu is HUGE. They have calzones, pasta dinners, sandwiches, omelets, 11 appetizers, salads, done-up fries, stuffed breads, burgers and grinders. There is a steady stream of people heading in there to order lunch (mostly take out, there's maybe 8 tables) as well as a big catering operation rolling out of the kitchen door. The staff is friendly and the only issue I've had was I recently got some slices (ordered in person) and they forgot about me. When I piped up, I got my slices in short order and was back to my office. Give 'em a shot, I guarantee they have something on that huge menu that you'll dig. read more

Came here to pick up some pizza with my family. We all ordered slices. Can I tell you they are huge! We also got garlic knots and they were huge too. Pizza here tasted good! I got 3 different slices. The veggie special , regular cheese and chicken bacon ranch. None of them disappointed me. I would get pizza here again. They have a Thinner New Haven style pizza and I am a huge fan of that. Honestly, I'm not mad about it. I wanted a late night snack and there wasn't much else open in this part of downtown Hartford. Pietro's Pizza came in clutch! Not sure why everyone is hating but the NY style pizza slices were pretty large and you can even see how I split my pizza into two so I even got my monies worth. A bit greasy but that comes with the territory and nothing that some napkins won't fix to dap the extra oil. It was yummy and I finished it in my hotel room afterward. It's pizza. Come on peeps. One of my favorite pizza places in hartford. The pizza always feels like it has a little extra spice and love. And I love their penne alla vodka -- the garlic knots are amazing. Thank god it only comes with two! My only issues ever have been when I place a delivery order for a certain time, they always ignore the time and just start making it/deliver it. I've not been home yet before when they call me to say they're there more than an hour before I ordered it for. Would be nice if they paid closer attention, but I get its busy! read more

I ordered a large VEGGIE MAMA pizza. All that was MISSING was the VEGGIES! I don't understand how its called veggie mama, and the veggies are MIA, MISSING IN ACTION. Once upon a time the entire pizza was covered in veggies, broccoli(BIG PIECES), mushrooms olive, spinach, onions and peppers. NOW, your lucky if you get broccoli on it, AND NOT VEGGIE PIZZA w/just ONIONS AND PEPPERS. I should've posted a pic, but I forgot. Anyhoo, i will order again and hopefully it will be better! Got some pretty decent pizza from here last night. My husband had the pepperoni pie and I had the chicken Alfredo. I liked the Alfredo pizza, but it could have used a bit more cheese. The garlic knots sadly were not good. A bit over cooked and lacking flavor, they definitely needed less time in the oven and garlic. read more

I was staying in the Residence Inn next door and they recommended the pizza place next door. I figured it would probably be average, an assumption accentuated by the counter service aspect, but I was surprised. Rather simple, but a variety of slices and pies, including styles not normally as popular in a small pizzeria near NYC. The place is really small. I would guess the majority of their patrons don't eat in house. There are only a handful of tables. Not an issue, as there was room. The counter person brought the food out when it was ready and I started chowing down. The food? I tried the Chicago Style. A bit different than I remember Chicago style, but very tasty. Pizza is good customer service is not. I ordered 2 pizzas and garlic bread online, they show up with one pizza and the garlic bread with a receipt for $33 when I paid $68. The lady on the phone when we first called was hostile and instisted that they don't do online orders through yelp...yet yall are on here. She kept saying that we were in the wrong when I have my bank statement and my order details in front of me. She puts us on hold to find our order finds it then says she'll deliver the pizza. The pizza took 1 hour to get here. We called after 45 mins she said the pizza was on the way. Mind you this place is like 5 mins from me. read more

There should be an option for a 0/0. Ive been coming here since I moved to the city, the man that works in the front is extremely rude. When I go I ask for my pizza to be cooked longer.. I'm willing to wait. I went in there and ordered and was waiting for 20 minutes... when I walked up to the counter to see about my food they handed me a box when I checked my pizza it was soggy. I walked to the counter and told him what I ordered.. said my food was fine. i had to lift it up and show him it was soggy. i was gonna wait for the food to fixed but this isn't the first time this happened with these guys. I asked him for my refund and he made a big deal about it and then said he didn't wanna see me back there. what is wrong with getting the food made how I requested it? read more

This is such an amazing place. Had great pizzas, especially for a vegetarian person. Courteous staff, takes about 25 minutes for your pizza to be made. Giant slice alert! Pietro's has a vast selection of very large NY style slices. One slice is never enough and two slices is almost too much but that all depends on how you want to live your life. The service is fast and they always heat up your slices with the options of dine in or take out (which they put in a small box for you). The inside is small but there is always a place to sit. read more

This pizza is so good. You can buy a whole pizza or just by the slice in store. I ordered a pizza for pick-up and it was ready within the window I was quoted. I was eating at Pietros Pizzeria, they are very attentive when taking orders as I could not eat what I wanted at first. I want to talk about the hygiene they have with the products, I touched a bottle of Coca-Cola but I changed my mind and took another one because I thought the first one was not very cold. When I put the bottle back an employee of the pizzeria came out to clean the bottle I had touched earlier. Kudos for being so careful and so discreet, I didn't see when he wiped the bottle with a brown napkin and I didn't see when that same employee was talking about what happened with another employee. I thought it was a radioactive contamination event. I hope they raise the pay for the employees of that business. I hope they never forget the password to enter the restroom because the customers of that business do not have the right to use it. I go there strictly for their salads. They are a bit pricey, but definitely worth the money. They are huge. My favorite is the Cajun chicken salad, the chicken is seasoned well and crispy. It comes with two garlic knots, absolutely delish. The cashier is always kind and welcoming. read more

Honestly, I wish that I could give this place a 2.5 rating. Pietro's is good because it's open late and the guys behind the counter were kind of entertaining. However, the food was quite a struggle. My chicken bacon pizza was not delicious at all. I cannot put my finger on it, but it did not taste like pizza. Carmine's is a fresh from scratch kitchen that is ALWAYS open. Their appetizers, pastas, entrees and desserts combine old-world traditional Italian flavor with a modern flair for presentation, and the freshest ingredients around. Menu staples like rigatoni bolognese, fettuccine carbonara and chicken Milanese are coupled with unique recipes like chicken ala vodka and toasted almond cake. They've staffed the kitchen with a dream team of chefs and you can tell instantly! They also do parties, catering and online ordering/delivery. The restaurant is well known for its live music. There is never a cover and parking is always free. This place and produces absolutely amazing food and drinks. I have noticed quite a few menu changes. The Happy Hour menu has expanded. It's also no longer all day Monday. The main menu no longer has prices on featured drinks (although that's the tre d these days). Note that the Bar Bites menu is available open to close! The Main Menu looks the same although there is a new Wine List (that's a first here). The music is very pleasant and the right volume level. It's always a big cool in here too. For my first drink, I'm having a Pratt N Whiskey. This is made with Woodford Reserve Bourbon, sweet vermouth, red wine and sour mix. It's definitely an unusual drink. It's not garnished, but it tastes great. The wine sticks out for sure. It's clearly a shaken drink not often found with a whiskey component except for maybe Whiskey Sours. For my first item, I'm having the House Salad made with spring mix, basil, tomatoes, julienned (thinly sliced) carrots, cucumbers and house red wine vinaigrette dressing. This is a big portion! I love this dressing! This tastes great! For my next item, I'm trying the Carmine's Secret Tenderloins. These are off of Carmine's "Secret Menu." They are pan seared, caramelized chicken tenderloins, made with wine, olive oil, cracked black pepper (dried black peppercorns broken into coarse, uneven pieces), kosher salt (a coarse, flaky salt named for its use in the Jewish koshering process of drawing blood from meat), shredded Parmesan and a very special "secret sauce." She's damn good at what she does! For my next drink, I'm having a Connecticut Cosmo. This is made with Litchfield Vodka, Wild Moon Cranberry, Triple Sec and lime juice. This vodka is the Gold Medal Winner 2018 & 2019 at the New York International Spirits Competition. Silver Medal Winner at the 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Competition!Our Gluten-Free Batchers' Vodka is distilled from luscious corn grown during the beautiful summer months in Somers, CT. We distill 4 ¾ times and use a gravity-fed charcoal filter that takes 12 hours to filter 100 gallons. The longer the vodka sits on the charcoal, the more impurities are removed, which creates an incredibly smooth taste. Bottled at 80 proof. It is impeccably clean, slightly sweet, velvety smooth mouthfeel and sweet buttery overtones. It's smooth with a warm finish with subtle notes of sweet ripe corn at the end. Marinara sauce is a tomato sauce usually made with tomatoes, garlic, herbs, and onions. I don't eat pasta all that often. This will serve as my appetizer before I hit the main course. This is a BIG portion! It is very good! For my entree I'm having the Pan Seared Salmon which is "hand cut" salmon with zesty orange glaze served over mashed potatoes with seasonal vegetables (broccoli). Add LOTS of crushed red pepper. The music is definite oldies in here. Disco Inferno! For my first drink, I'm having an Our Negroni made with Beefeater Gin, Campari, sweet vermouth and San Pelligrino Arancitta. Pelligrino Arancitta is an unusual ingredient. Sanpellegrino Aranciata is the original sparkling orange drink from Italy. I've never seen this in a Negroni other than at here. It is served quickly, garnished nicely with an orange wheel and a rosemary leaf (also odd). What a nice touch! They are quick to drop off a complementary ice water. For my first food item, I'm having the Chopped Antipasto Salad made with to subs lettuce, provolone cheese, Genoa salami, string beans (that's new), tomatoes, chick peas (that's different) and Parmesan cheese. They use cloth napkins and metal utensils. That's always a good sign. This is a good sized portion! I remember it as being much smaller before (I could be wrong). All the ingredients are quite fresh. For my next food item, I'm having the Grilled Artichoke. This is made with crushed hazelnuts, lemon and Parmesan cheese. This is definitely a unique item you can't get anywhere else. These is good! These are made with Gorgonzola cheese, toasted pumpkin seed and raw Brussels sprouts salad. These are great! Crunchy on the outside. I move that salad! Wow! They're playing Born to Be Alive by Patrick Hernandez. I've never heard that in a restaurant. He's a one hit wonder! For my next drink, I'm having the Venetian Martini. This is made with Absolut Citron, Aperol, Prosecco and lime juice. It's is nicely garnished and tastes great! It is strong too. You can taste the alcohol let me yell you! For my next item, I'm having the Happy Hour Cheeseburger (cooked medium) made with lettuce, tomato, provolone and a brioche bun. I'm not leaving here without it! This burger is huge! I love dill pickles and ketchup! This is delicious! For my last drink, Mercedes is making me a Mercedes Manhattan. Look at this masterpiece! A Manhattan is a classic, spirit-forward cocktail made with whiskey (traditionally rye or bourbon), sweet vermouth, and Angostura bitters, stirred with ice and served in a chilled glass, typically garnished with a maraschino cherry or lemon twist. It's known for its balanced, complex flavor, with rye providing spice and bourbon offering sweetness, and variations exist using different spirits or vermouths. This is absolutely perfect! It's perfect garnished with an orange peel, two maraschino cherries and a sprig of rosemary. It is perfectly balanced. There simply is no better than this. It has a hint of chocolate in it. I like the square ice cube to slow the dilution process. They just played Waterloo by ABBA. I haven't heard that in decades! I just noticed that the lights dim as the night goes on. For dessert, I'm having the Vanilla Creme Brulee with a chocolate chip cookie. Hold the phone here! This was served in UNDER ONE MINUTE! I'm told they just torch it. I'm impressed! I think that's a record! I love the confectionery sugar sprinkle! Damn! This is good! No vanilla bean on the bottom (not everyone does that). Wait! I see it. It's on the edges! This is delicious! It's a good portion for sure! The last item is a GF pepperoni pizza for my sister. This is a rare treat she gets once (or twice a year). This place is the best!

I went with my usual, an Italian Combo (half size for $14) stacked a mile high with Ham, Turkey, Genoa, Mortadella, Capicola, and Provolone with lettuce, tomato, onions, and peppers on a fresh loaf of Italian bread. It was superb, and the portion size was so generous that it lasted me for three lunches. As we were paying, we spied some home-made cookies by the register and grabbed an oatmeal and a chocolate chip to take home. Everything ran $32 for a ton of wonderful Italian goodness. We didn't get a chance to check out the hot bar. It wasn't open today because LaRosa's Marketplace was closing early for personal reasons. But I promise you, the next time we visit we'll leave with one of their chicken or pasta entrees. We love our Italian delis, and LaRosa's has immediately shot up into our top tier.

It was founded by husband and wife Uzbek immigrants Timur Rakhimov and Aziza Djalmamedova. The couple immigrated to the United States from Uzbekistan in 2010. After over a decade of education, training, and hard work, they decided to try their luck as restaurateurs. They found a space that used to be home to Hook & Ladder Restaurant (right next to Hartford Fire Department's historic South Green Station). The couple hired Turkish immigrant Hasan Korkmaz as their head chef. Together, they curated a menu full of traditional Turkish and Uzbek cuisine that is all prepared in accordance with halal dietary laws. Some of the menu items include kebabs, samsas, falafel, gyro, and mezzo platters. I recently dined at City Kebab while I was in Hartford to see a concert. I checked Yelp to see if there was anywhere good to grab dinner before the show, and Middle Eastern/Mediterranean cuisine sounded fantastic to me. When I entered, I was greeted by the very friendly co-owner Timur, who said, "I work for my wife. She's the real boss." After being seated, I began to look over the menu. When Timur returned, he tried to recommend that I get gyro. I told him, "Oh no. I know exactly what I want. I'd like to order a variety of small plates to sample. I'm a local food blogger and I want an authentic experience." Timur was just ecstatic and quickly went to give my order to the kitchen staff. I started off first with a small "Mixed Cold Appetizer" (combo of hummus, babganush, haydari, soslu patlican, antep ezme, avocado ezme), the "Falafel" (mixture of chickpeas, parsley, onions, garlic, Middle Eastern spices, deep fried) and a small teapot of "Turkish Black Tea". Timur brought me some complimentary "Ramazan Pidesi" (Turkish Bread) as well as a glass of "Fresh Squeezed Lemonade". He said, "You need to try this!" So far, everything was excellent! For the main course, I had the "Mixed Grill" (mixture of chicken shish, beef shish, kofte, lamb adana, beef & lamb gyro, served w/ white rice, bulgur rice, Mediterranean salad). It was a symphony of Mediterranean flavors! Timur surprised me with a "Pumpkin Samsa" (pumpkin filling in crispy pastry, seasoned with spices, served w/ tomato sauce) and said, "You can't leave without trying this. It's an Uzbek specialty!" It was very tasty! Before the meal was over, he said, "Save some room. I have another surprise for you at the end." He brought me "Künefe with Dondurma" (Turkish ice cream). I had never tried this before. Stuffed with melted mozzarella and then topped with pistachio and almond crumbles, it was simply divine! I repeatedly thanked Timur for his hospitality and for sharing his culinary cultural traditions with me. I had enough leftovers for both my wife and I to have for dinner the following evening. I'll definitely be returning with my whole family. If you're looking for an authentic Middle Eastern culinary experience in Hartford, then look no further than City Kebab!

The cool light fixtures used to be above where the pedicure station was and also another reason there is a sink on the main floor. This is not quite a wait-on-you type of restaurant. You place an order through the kiosks on the wall and service staff will provide it to you when it's ready. It would be the same thing if you'd like any additions, in exception to condiments which are on the table. There is a water dispenser available for self service and a sink is nearby to wash your hands, as well as where you can place your dishes when finished similar to cafes. My go-to is always their Dry Noodle. The Daikon Bowl is probably my second favorite. I usually look out for their specials. It's too bad they do not offer the same item too often.
