I happened to get here the first time because my usual pub, a few minutes away, was fully packed for a big rugby match. The atmosphere was pretty welcoming and relaxed, the TV screen are quite dated, making it a fantastic venue for those not too interested in watching a bunch of guys running for a ball or, even worse, trying to hit it with a bat. Since then, this became our regular place with true customers and a guaranteed seat (hopefully this review will end up among the non-recommended ones).

We ordered a bottle of rosé which turned out to be Portuguese Esporão and a nacho platter to share. I was a bit sceptical about pub food before ordering, but surprisingly it was really good. Nachos platter is large enough for sharing as it comes with a lot of cheese on top. Later in the evening it gets busier as the DJ starts playing his set. My b/f had a steak that was tender and perfectly cooked. The wines are reasonably priced and well chosen to match the food. The waiters and waitresses are friendly and happy to recommend their favourite dishes and wines. They really know their menu--maybe because some of them live upstairs and as a result source all their food and drink from the pub. The décor in the restaurant is quite unique. With taxidermy, skulls, antlers, chandeliers, solid wood tables and a view into the kitchen, you'll feel strangely at home. I would definitely go back for a meal, especially since it's so close to home. But I'm not sure I would go there for just a drink. The space is cramped and full of really annoyingly loud drunks.
