Absolutely horrible. I use to take my older son here, loved it. Now I took my 4.5 year old and it looks horrible, absolutely nothing like I requested. Carrie didn't seem to know how to work with children, telling him constantly to sit still plus not being able to follow the haircut, it looks absolutely horrible. I said I wanted to keep the length, bring back the layers, something like the photo. I'm so upset, my son is upset. To add to insult, as I got in the car I got a random text, calling me a "b1tch" and seemed a bit too fitting as I left the establishment. To say the least we will never return. read more

I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews for small businesses, but unfortunately this was our first and last visit. We brought my daughter in for her first salon haircut. Since she's getting older and wants styles I can't easily do myself, I explained to the stylist that she could cut it however my daughter wanted, even showing example photos. When my daughter tried to describe that she wanted layers to frame her face, the stylist assumed she meant she wanted it styled. Without asking or clarifying, she went ahead and curled my daughter's hair -- then charged an additional $27. What should have been a simple cut turned into a $70 bill, when I typically pay $40 for the same service at another salon. To make matters worse, the salon itself did not feel clean. It smelled unpleasant, and the floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned, even though the space was completely empty when we arrived. While the stylist was kind, she should have communicated that curling would be an additional charge before proceeding. Unfortunately, due to both the lack of transparency and the condition of the salon, I cannot recommend this busiesses. read more

To preface this review, I have a toddler who has strong sensory preferences so I specifically sought out a salon that catered to children because I figured that all staff members would have worked with small children in similar situations.  There is an option when booking on the website to select that your child needs extra time and I've always selected that.  We had been to this exact location 4 times before our most recent visit and this was the 4th stylist that we had used.  We discovered in our first visit that clippers seemed to scare our kiddo so the last three visits were all done with scissors by hand without the clippers even coming out.  We never had any real issues until this last time. Our most recent visit to the salon was at the beginning of February for a quick clean-up cut.  We brought in a picture of how our boy's hair looked after his last haircut and said we would like it to look like that again.  I also mentioned that I didn't want electric clippers used because they scare our son.  The stylist said that he couldn't do the cut like the picture without using clippers and honestly, that should have been my sign to walk away.  He brought out the clippers immediately and my son freaked out.  We're talking crying desperately, snot dripping down his face, coughing, trying to claw his way out of the chair while we were trying to comfort him by holding his hands and giving him hugs.  It was terrible.  It was very clear that the stylist did not have much experience with kids and would not turn the clippers off and switch to scissors.  He didn't really seem to know how to handle the situation at all, didn't talk to our son or try to console him in any way, nothing.  My husband had to bring out his phone and attempt to connect to wifi to stream something for our son to watch when all of the other stylists we've had in the past have pulled something up on the salon's TV for him to watch.  The other stylists also talked to him and distracted him but none of that happened this time.  The haircut turned out ok but the crying continued the entire time and he required a lot of comforting after the visit.  I don't know that we would even be able to convince him to go back into the salon willingly. I have seen other reviews state that a lot of stylists have left the salon recently and looking back at our history, 3/4 of the cuts we've had were done by ladies who are no longer with the company. I truly hope whoever took over this location will reconsider their hiring practices and only seek to employ stylists who actually like and are familiar with kids. read more

Terrible service to my 2 year old! Ms. dawn completely messed up my son's hair line with completely un even hair edges on opposite sides of the ear. She had no regards for her mistakes and kept on about the haircut as if she was in a rush to get to another client. My daughter Leilani got her first hair cut today!! mind you she's 4 my baby !!! I was very nervous as a first time mom and I think the experience went very well I booked online and got an available app with Polly. We came about 10 minutes early to feel the place out. It was super cute theme with the chairs, they had a Tv playing Toy Story (one of my daughter favs) they had a lil bubble machine for the kiddos too. Polly asked me how I'd like her hair and I think it came out just how I'd picture (few inches off w some layers. My daughter cut her hair a few months back not too bad but she made to even it out and I'm obssessed!!! Polly added some red spray die for funnsies Leilani loved it thought she was lil mermaid! ‍ will recommend. -first cut experience $36 came with a picture of her new haircut/and old hair for keepsake. We have been coming here for 8-years. My son is on the spectrum and they ALWAYS make accommodations for him. Tamie has helped us and listened to his needs since he was a baby. I really cannot recommend this place enough. I am surprised at the low ratings as we have never ever had a bad haircut (son, 8 and daughter,5). The cuts always come out so cute! We even had a difficult haircut around age 4 when he was not cooperating and Tamie got a bad cut-- she was SO KIND and supportive. I can't express my gratitude enough! It's a wonderful place and we will continue going there! read more

I took my 1-year-old to see Polly to clean up the mess I made when I tried to do his first haircut at home. She checked to see if he would handle the clippers without getting upset, and when it was clear he didn't like them, she did the whole cut using scissors. She was so patient as he squirmed and wiggled around, and she did a very thorough job. His hair looks amazing! Great place, lots of cute distractions for the kids, and being able to make an appointment was really convenient. I'll be back! read more

I have been going here for my daughter's haircuts since her first haircut around her first birthday to now when she is 5. Do I love it? No. Do I have another good option? No?! So I keep going. They take walk-ins only and it is extremely crowded almost anytime you go. Prepare to put your name down and maybe go shopping around in Streets of Tanasbourne while you wait. We manage to get a decent haircut every time, but some cuts have been way better than others. Some of them will offer to make cute hairstyles after the cut, which is much appreciated. If you like one stylist more, you could get their schedule when they work and go at those times and ask for that stylist. One thing I have noticed though that most of them look pretty unhappy. Thankfully, the kids don't care because they have cute airplanes and firetrucks to sit in, can watch a movie while getting a haircut and can get a sweet treat and a prize after their cut. If I could make one suggestion that would be to have the greeting before a cut starts to be a lil slower and more sweet with a lil one. He is still observing what's happening so take it slow. Also maybe you can talk to him as you are doing him up? With clippers a slower approach might make the hair cut a little longer time wise, but again let's take it easy. read more

As if we had force fed her by putting the candy to their lips for taste.. They can't even talk, let alone know what candy is. This is a great spot for kids. The "chairs" are fire engines, planes, etc. They have movies running and toys to play with. It's very clean and everyone was very nice. It's around back from the main Streets of Tanasbourne mall area so parking is pretty easy. The only thing I'm not wild about is that they don't take appointments; it's a first come / first served deal. Because of this, we made the trek out there on a weekday so we would be sure to get in and out. And sure enough, we did! They only have 3 "chairs" for kids so I imagine the wait on the weekends could be long. Kids get a free toy on the way out, which helps with the extraction process. read more

Took my preschooler here for a haircut and it's the worst haircut I have seen on her! I told the stylist to cut her bangs just right above the eyebrows. Instead she cut it an inch above her eyebrows plus it's uneven!!! When my husband came home and saw her, he immediately asked what the F happened to her hair. I will never return again!!! read more

If I could give this salon ZERO stars then I would! We have been here two times and both times have ended badly. Three years ago we took our daughter and got her first haircut done by a lady that didn't like children or her job. The haircut was awful! We had to go to another salon to get it fixed. We went again tonight because I didn't have time to drive out to our regular place, Little Clippers. I called ahead to make sure they could take us and that they didn't have a wait. I was assured that it was no problem and we would be helped right away. We arrived less than 5 minutes later and were told it was going to be an hour wait or more. When I reminded the receptionist, Hannah, that we had just called she was not apologetic and didn't offer any solution. She was also not accommodating when I asked for management contact info. DO NOT GO HERE! If you want a place with cool kid chairs and a kid friendly environment go to Little Clippers in Lake Oswego. If you just want a good basic haircut Great Clips around the corner is great also. Josh was a great stylist for my four year old daughter. And the service is WAY better at both of these places. read more

It felt to me like the employees there were doing a decent job of forcing themselves to be kid-friendly (nobody was a natural). The woman who cut my daughter's hair related well with her and there were certainly no issues during the haircut... the issues came after we got home and realized that because of the way the employee parted my child's hair for the cut, several "chunks" of hair ended up being way longer than the rest and she had about 5 rogue groups of multiple hairs that were too long. This was easily fixed by a grandmother who had a pair of scissors and a bit of skill, but it is a disappointing result for a children's "salon." Apparently a higher price is justified these days by the business description more so than the quality of work. read more

We have taken our 4-yr old daughter here about 4-5 times and have consistently been happy with the customer service, atmosphere and staff. Although the staff works hard and clearly has to deal with all sorts during the day, they always are kind and thoughtful when we are there. When we go, we do a shampoo & cut and have a little 'spa day' treat out of it. Every stylist has done a lovely job making the event fun and enjoyable for my daughter. The cuts are always cute and they do a great job trimming her hair to bring out her curls. I think that, like with all businesses, you will receive back the kindness that you give to the staff. We try to be nice and friendly and in return we have always had a fantastic time! read more

Update 1/7/2017 Our 2nd visit yesterday with my now 3yr old and it was a success! Polly was our stylist and she was great! My son didn't cry this time, but he was VERY wiggly. Polly was very nice and patient with him and took her time cutting his hair. She gauged my son's attitude towards clippers and then only used scissors and a comb, no clippers, which was great because I think he would have been "done." We arrived and only waited a couple minutes, however shortly after we arrived there seemed to be a few more families showing up who then had to wait. Been here twice . While the set up is good , the staff aren't welcoming and are bordering on rude . On the second visit , made us wait for almost 20 odd mins although one of the staff member was free but wasn't willing to call us for whatever the reason . This was my second time at Pigtails & Crewcuts and it was a terrible experience. My daughter and I get there way before the cutoff before closing time to find a long line in front of us. Which also included elderly people. That's odd I thought this salon was for children. My child is high energy so I need something to distract her like her favorite show but the staff refused to share their WiFi. This is extremely poor customer service considering this salon only takes walk ins. I was forced to chase a hyperactive child because the salon refused to share their WiFi. And lastly the rude commentary from the staff was not needed. We will never be back again. read more

We came in and got our sons first haircut. They offered to do a picture and save a lock of his hair. My son (2.5 years old) has sensory issues so getting him to sit in a chair was a no go. Luckily the stylist let his dad sit with him to cut his hair. It came out cute and the stylist was quick and did a great job. So we had to get our daughter a pre-Easter haircut and were already in Tanasbourne, so voila! We found this little gem right around the corner and were in the chair in less than 5 minutes. The chairs are actually set up like old pedal cars (police car, taxi, fire engine, airplane, etc). This is an extremely kid friendly place, and they do a great job. They are quick, friendly, and seem genuinely concerned that you are happy with the haircut. The prices are reasonable as well, and they have a good selection of products for kids (and toys of course). Thumbs up! read more

I've been coming here for over a year and we always had great luck with Erika. She has since left and we've had three cuts since she left by three different people - all terrible. This last one was the worst and I won't be returning. They are total amateurs and don't cut hair like professionals. This last visit was a total mess - my daughters bangs are blunt cut and uneven - there's a big chunk of longer hair on her right side. I'd asked for the bangs to be textured, not blunt and for her to fix the mess on the side, but she seemed really uneducated on how to cut hair and never fixed it. read more

I have taken my daughter here twice before and didnt have any problems until this last visit. First off the lady who cut her hair didnt even cut her hair straight. Some strands you can easily see are longer. The cut consisted of the lady grabbing all my daughters hair into a ponytail and chopped it straight across and that was it! I had asked if she could layer my daughters hair and was told they don't do that here. So I paid $20 for a choppy sloppy haircut. We will no longer be coming here! read more

I have really mixed feelings about this place. The good is that the facility is kid-friendly. Both of my children love the train set and there is always something on the TV's for them to watch (although there was an issue today when my daughter was watching something during her brother's haircut and then it was changed halfway through so that another child could watch something else). I will say that neither of my kids have ever had bad haircuts here, although we admittedly go for simpler styles. There are some things that don't make me happy about this place. For one thing, they are supposed to open at 9:30, and we usually try to get there right when it opens. However, every single time we've had to wait outside and the business opened 5 to 15 minutes late. Also, some of the stylists acted as though they would like to be somewhere else. They certainly weren't unkind to my kids, but they didn't really make an effort to relate to them. Finally, and this is a bit more sensitive, but many of the stylists appear unprofessional in their own dress and style. They are dressed sloppily and look like they just rolled out of bed (unkept hair, etc). This sort of thing would not be allowed in most salons. I am going to continue to bring my children there--but only until they reach the point that they don't need the distractions to get their haircut. read more

This place was great! We've done the home cut, the Great Clips cut, etc., but this was the best & quickest cut so far - a mini faux fade too. Super cute. The trick seems to be to get the right stylist. One lady butchered the back of this poor kid's do. Huge gouge out of the back. We got a lady from Cambodia who was really good w/ our 2 1/2 yo son (same boy who SCREAMED bloody murder last haircut even with a lollipop & iPad.) She took breaks so he could 'drive' the airplane he was sitting in and spin the propeller. Would definitely come back to this same lady. read more
