We ordered a simple breakfast from some handy little forms they keep in the room and she delivered it to the door of our chalet. Top awesome things: so many birds just outside our French doors. We're not birders at all but it was totally neat. Totally walkable to our kayak day trip and three different dining establishments - a cart-type with plenty of picnic tables called the Fat Tui, a more locals-friendly pub called Park Cafe, and a bit of a nicer spot with lots of GF/DF options called Hooked. There is laundry and a kitchen on site. Dedicated parking for each chalet. The internet was 4/5 but that means better than many places we've stayed in NZ. No additional cost. Our room had a queen or king bed plus an extra twin in the corner. Would be good for a family. I hope we can come back to visit next time we are in the country!

You can do an amazing hike in Nydia bay: Pickup some great snacks in Havelock btw. So we did it by doing a Car Key exchange as it is a one way trek. Start at Kaiuma Bay hike into the lodge and stay a few days. You will be treated by the Hosts Warren and Colleen to at true treat. They have a fridge stocked with beer and wine ( at a charge). Great cooked meals. Explore the gorgeous area or just strum on a guitar. Plenty of cool sleeping options. Hike out the either side to Duncan Bay / Tennyson Inlet to pickup your car Amazing serene place

We…read moretook a late afternoon ferry into Picton that was delayed so we weren't on track to arrive until close to 9 PM (and our trip was made slower by driving in the rain). The owners were so nice, checked in on us and weren't mad that we were making them wait for our check in (we were the last ones). The room was so big and the bed was so comfy - these weary travelers almost contemplated not going to Abel Tasman the next day...almost. Also Max recommended the best restaurant in town (Hopgoods) and called them in advance to make sure they would stay open to accommodate us for dinner. Literally it was the best meal we had on our trip and we were so sad that we were barely staying awake during it b/c we were so tired. Nelson is the type of place that I would definitely come back to and it has a super quaint center of town. If you are going to the area - definitely stay here....for more than one day.

They offer hostel-style dormitories, small private units, and glamping options. We opted for the clamping tent and loved it. The tent was outfitted with a comfy bed, furniture, and everything you'd need: a fan, dehumidifier, heat, phone charger outlets, etc. The shared shower and bathroom area was a few steps away which was convenient. They have some food and drink for sale in the check-in office, as well as a food truck that often serves veg/health-focused fare. They also have kitchens, lounge areas, and games onsite. It's right at the start of the National Park, so there couldn't be a better spot to stay for a few days of exploring the park!

Upon arrival, Brian met us and welcomed us in, showing us around the lovely property - two separate bedrooms, a common area with kitchen, piano, TV, and sitting areas, and multiple outdoor areas overlooking the water, and one at the back for the sun. Our bedroom, the Magnolia Suite, overlooked the water and was beautiful. Comfortable bed, TV which we didn't use, large bathroom, free WiFi that is okay (nothing fast or amazing, but definitely good enough!). Breakfast each morning is incredible - a huge amount of food set up on a buffet, and then Anthea makes something special each morning. The first morning saw waffles, and the second saw eggs with salmon, both of which were fantastic. Each evening, they offer some snacks and wine, which really caps off the day, especially as you look out over the water from your location above. Really, Bellbird Lodge cannot be beat. It was our first ever stay at a B&B, and cannot complain about a single moment of it. You're so close to Kaiteriteri and Marahau, but tucked away, above, in the quiet, so it's easy to avoid the crowds. And the price? Steal of a century! Do come by - you won't regret a moment.
