I started seeing her with my ex-husband and my kids and in therapy. You're supposed to feel safe and secure and I was crying and was telling my daughter how I felt and she immediately snapped at me. Talk to me like I was a child disregarded. My emotions told me that I was Never supposed to show emotion towards my daughter and put that on her which in my opinion and I've always been taught in therapy that being honest and showing emotion is a good thing. She made me cry all the way home and after I got done talking to my therapist and multiple people about what she did, they agreed that there was nothing wrong with me, showing emotion. And the fact that my daughter was not comfortable, she was not her outgoing self. She was quiet and meek that is quite opposite of my daughter's personality. I even reported that one of my daughters had a full-blown eating disorder and she did nothing about it I was reporting abuse going on after their father's house and she did nothing about it. I would be very cautious when seeing this therapist.

Without exception his evaluations, reports and recommendations are thorough, complete and of great assistance to the court in deciding custody matters. As is often the case, because of Dr. Rick's reputation for competence and thoroughness, his reports often result in the parties accepting his recommendations and avoiding a trial. I am very suspect of the motives of reviewers like the one above that provide no facts or details about their experience, but just attempt to tar and feather someone with representations that may or may not be factually accurate.

I withdrew my child from therapy because there was no support for our family unit, just divisiveness and projection. Just because I put my child in a therapist's care, it doesn't give them the right to assume that what they assume is always right. Kimberly was making assumptions that was wrong. She needs to address her own personal biases and past trauma before she can work on what a healthy mindset really is.

I was extremely hesitant to go to Dr. Mendiola because of my issues with previous doctors. I never felt listened to and I always felt like other doctors just threw any sort of medication at me, which actually resulted in a couple of hospital visits because of the harsh side effects of the medications. Dr. Mendiola restored my trust in the system and not only helped me find what works with my body and mind, but he also treats me like a person instead of just another patient. He also referred me to my therapist (who has now passed) but his referral to her changed my life entirely. With his care and commitment to his patients, and his excellent referrals, I truly feel like I'm the person I was always meant to be. I do have to say though...if you've gotten this far in my review...just remember...meds can only do so much regardless. A person can't change unless they put the time and effort to do so. So if you're thinking that meds will cure you entirely, that's not the case. For me, meds help make things clearer and help me to assess what I feel (which is what therapy is also for). Sort of like a car needing both the engine and wheels to work and move. As a side note: His team is also so kind and just as attentive (a little shoutout to Dhelia as well). I was, I verified it with my insurance, and had to go back and forth with them and their billing office multiple times. At this point it's been over three weeks since I started trying to get an appointment. I finally get them to agree to take an app time for me after all of this. I take off work early to go to it only to find out they never saved my appointment and it didn't actually exist. How does this office expect someone in mental health crisis to ever navigate this process and advocate for themselves when the office won't do their job and even save your appointment in their books?!

I wondered if people were coming to see her once and then not returning. I was going through severe depression/suicidality and was in a domestic violence relationship in addition to being unemployed and facing impending homelessness. I was trying so hard to survive and I was terrified. This counselor could only be described as catty. She told me "you just expect that a night with shining armor is going to come save you!" This person shouldn't be working with anyone, especially not women with trauma issues.
