I found Authentic Scandinavia and they made every step of the process incredibly easy, from deciding where to travel to covering off on every detail during our trip. I booked the Scandinavian Capitals tour to Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen with my mom. We are not seasoned travelers and Authentic Scandinavia handled everything to make our trip go smoothly. They were exceptionally responsive to all of my questions prior to the trip and the directions they provided ensured that we knew where we were going throughout our time in Scandinavia. We had one change with the cruise from Oslo to Copenhagen and Authentic Scandinavia made sure that it was handled and we were compensated accordingly before we even knew there was a problem. They had the hotel in Oslo print their email update and bring it to our room to ensure we received the message. I wasn't checking email during our trip so this was much appreciated. We booked Hotel Category 1 and the hotels in Stockholm and Oslo were excellent. The hotel in Copenhagen wasn't on the same level but we didn't have any major issues and the locations for all were perfect, which made it easy to see everything we wanted to in each city. I would recommend booking an extra day (or 2!) in Stockholm, as there is so much to see there and it is a beautiful place to spend a little more time. We were able to cover everything we wanted to see during the two days each we spent in Oslo and Copenhagen. I would 100% use Authentic Scandinavia for another trip and recommend them to anyone looking to plan a trip to this beautiful part of the world. 'Ello chaps!…read more Batservice Sightseeing (Boat Service Sightseeing) is located in the heart of downtown Oslo (near Akershus Fortress). They offer a variety of "fjord" sightseeing tours. I say "fjord" because the region is within a "fjord" but the fjords one would imagine being in Norway are found elsewhere, such as near Bergen. Despite this, it's a great two hour tour, and costs about $40 USD. It's money well spent. You get great views of Oslo from the water, getting to see the water shore attractions such as the Oslo Opera House, but also the near by islands and summer homes. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase on board. You can pre-purchase tickets online or in person --- or on the spot, although some tours may fill up. Seating is on an open deck and available first come first serve, so be early for a good spot. They suggest one half hour prior to departure time. Overall I give Batservice Sightseeing 5 stars out of 5.

Thankfully, weather was amazing and there were dozens of sailboats out as the boat returned around 5:30 pm on a Wednesday in late August. Did not need to wait more than 4-10 minutes for ferry rides to Fram/Kon-Tiki area, or back to Oslo.

Langøyene Island - This place was a very pleasant surprise. The island offers a beautiful…read morecombination of a long sandy beach, green surroundings, and stunning views of the Oslo Fjord. I really liked that even on a nice day there was plenty of space to relax. The ferry ride from Oslo is comfortable, and the journey itself is part of the experience. The island is clean, well maintained, and suitable for both families and individual visitors. I also appreciated the coastal walking paths and the quieter spots away from the main beach. A perfect place to escape the city and spend a relaxing day in nature. Free toilets, free drinking water, and everything was very clean. We made a short stop here during our stay in Oslo. The ferries are free if you have a multi-day public transport pass for Oslo.

Not really a sandy beach, but you can chill on the grass and jump in the water if you dare :)
