Usually regulars will tie extra poop bags to the fence and bring bottles of water. Because this park is a sump, garbage can sometimes wind up at the bottom of the park, but it's maintained weekly and is usually pretty clean for a dog park. The one thing this place NEEDS desperately is more signage about the rules. Last Sunday, July 11, 2021 we arrived around 8am and found a group of about 20 boys and 4 coaches having football practice. Usually I wouldn't mind this type of thing and welcome the socialization for the dogs, but the kids were not properly talked to about respecting the dog park. One of the boys opened the fence gate and let both of my dogs out, who of course then bolted out into the busy street. I feel that this could have been avoided if there were proper signs about closing the fence and being mindful of the dogs. Especially because this dog park is just the small fenced in area of a larger park, I feel like they could play anywhere and dogs really just have this one spot.

The park has large open fields for large field games, one half court for basketball, space for grilling, overhead coverage for eating, a nice playground for the kids, and oh yeah.. the big attraction, the "spray park". The spray park is a mini water park experience which sprays water out of various fun installations with a large bucket at the top which fills with water and dumps a large amount of water on all below. I remember when this park first opened up as a kid. The spray park was a complete game changer. The bucket seemed as large as any water parks. If you had asked me back then, I basically had the Nickelodeon hotel water park from TV for free at my local park. Whether it's the kiddos playing around in the water or us older folks dipping our heads under one of the water fixtures for a moment of relief on those warmer days, having a place to cool down is much appreciated by all.

Going back as an adult it's definitely changed , some for the better and some just unfortunate. I love the addition of the fountains and I love how it was relaxing and quiet for park . I love how you can see the museum's garden and I love how the play-area isn't very close to the street so kiddos don't get hurt . I had no idea it was a historic landmark so that was fun to read about . Ill be honest , the unfortunate I spoke of is all the litter in the water and around the park. I enjoyed my time here, I'll visit again .

There were crew members cleaning on the Wednesday morning on which I made my visit, hosing down and scrubbing the concrete areas and the restrooms. Even though it is a small park, there is a basketball court complete with nets, a volleyball court with a net, a large grassy field, and a large play structure for the kids with a layer of bark below to break falls. There is a large covered area with many picnic tables and several barbecue grills that can be reserved and rented by contacting NOR at 392-2010 and filling out an application which you can download here http://norfun.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/FR-100-Use-of-Facility-Online-Packet.pdf There are individual picnic tables scattered throughout the park with their own grills, too. There are public restrooms consisting of four separate individual rooms that can be locked by the occupant. They were all clean.

Beach Park, the arm pit of Bakersfield?…read more I have never seen or hard earned tax dollars doing so little work. I went to see the Richard & Annette Bloch Cancer Survivors Plaza. I am sad to say it is non-existent. The plaza has been destroyed. Whether by vandals or the city, I do not know, but don't go, it's not there. It is only a skeleton. Then I began walking around the park taking photos. As you will see, the park is a mess. It is impossible to walk without nearly breaking your ankle in the squirrel holes that litter the park. I probably saw 1000 squirrels in the 15 minutes I took pictures. The squirrels not only pose a physical problem with all the holes, but also a disease risk. The restrooms are filthy and the roof is partially burnt and falling apart. I was afraid to go inside it was so nasty. There was trash strewn across the park and it looked like it had been there for some time. The playground equipment was in not much better shape. Where are the Parks and Recreation personnel working if not in the parks. Where is our tax dollars going if not to fix our parks. Isn't Bakersfield talking about building more parks. Shouldn't they fix the existing ones first. I am not putting any captions on the photos. I will let them speak for themselves.

There are brightly colored play structures with bark below for safety. There is even a baby/toddler swing and two swings for older kids. There are picnic tables with BBQ grills next to each scattered around the edges of the park. I saw two large families having picnics in the park on the Saturday I was there. It seemed like a very safe green oasis in the middle of brown Oildale. As I was driving to the park, I passed an old man out for a walk. When he reached the park, he lay down in the shade of one of the trees for a little rest. I suppose he could have been a transient, but somehow I just didn't get that vibe from him. He was very clean and nicely dressed, so I'm going to asume he was just a local resident out for a walk on a very hot day seeking the peaceful coolness of the shade. Only negative was that I did not see any restrooms. This park is within walking distance of Sears Park.

This is an adorable little 2.5 acre community park with access from Peanut Ave on the North side…read moreand Laura Court on the South side. There is a large play structure with a variety of activities intended for children ages 5-12. There are two sets of swings, one intended for toddlers and one for older kids. There is bark under the structure and swings to provide a soft landing in case of a fall. There are three picnic tables spread around the bark area, each with its own grill (don't forget to bring the charcoal). There are benches well situated to provide a place for parents to relax and watch their chores play. There is even a working water fountain next to the bench on the West side so you can help your children keep hydrated. The only thing missing is a public restroom.
