We stayed in Room 7 which was a suite for two, king size bed, queen size sofa bed, wet bar with refrigerator, hardwood floors, gas fireplace, jet tub and........ are you sitting down?.... a marble shower with 5 shower heads! Months after staying here, I still think about the 5-head shower! Soooo niiiiiiiicccccceeee! Very affordable at $159 to $249 Canadian depending on what time of year. This was a very comfortable room, and I wouldn't mind either staying in this one again or trying another one here. Love this inn! Highly recommended!

Asked manager if there was any way we could stay in our room the whole time because we loved it so much. A few minutes later she called our room and had worked it out. She said she "comped" another customer and our room became available. Another time our keys didn't work and cleaning person saw the situation and insisted on taking our keys to front desk and fixed. I told her I could do this myself but she insisted. All staff so friendly and efficient. Room was spacious and clean and had all the bells and whistles. Shower amazing. A balcony was nice. Attractive art work. Nice restaurant on first floor and excellent strong coffee available. Parking on premises is free and overflow on street also available. Close to many restaurants.

The Crimson Jasper…read more In search of travel opportunities that would take me out of my home near Washington, D.C. so that I could avoid the gross semi-quincentennial spectacle being touted by 47, I looked for travel through the United States and Canada. Amtrak Vacations agent Kevin Guadagnoli did an outstanding job arranging my itinerary, starting with booking me a sleeper from Washington, D.C. to Chicago, then to Seattle, and then to Vancouver, Jasper, and Banff. I arrived at the train station in Jasper, operated by VIA Rail Canada, on July 4, so my timing was perfect. No red, white, and blue blustering - just clean air, beautiful mountains, great food, and lovely people, all who seemed to be at once kind, interesting, and unfailingly courteous. So refreshing to meet nice people. Kevin's choice of the Crimson Jasper was spot on: the hotel is an 8-minute walk from the train station, on clearly marked streets with ample sidewalks that made the trip easy and safe. Upon my arrival (not yet 11 a.m.) I was able to check my backpack and was free to walk around and get a sense of life in Alberta. There were first-rate bistros, a local liquor store, a full-service grocery store, and blue skies abounding, all within walking distance. The hotel was perfect. I was able to check into my room in the early afternoon, and found it to be well-appointed, comfortable, and quiet. The hotel has done away with single-use plastics, in favor of shower-wall-mounted dispensers that were environmentally friendly and easy to use. The bathroom was carefully designed, and was user-friendly even for me, traveling solo at age 70 with just a touch of neuropathy that makes it important that the shower offers grab-bars and such. Check, check, and check. I'd return in a heartbeat. Above and beyond: I had a bit of a meltdown when my transport from Jasper to Banff went south. Brewster Transportation, with whom Kevin had booked my transfer, proved to be really, really hard to work with. My itinerary had me leaving the hotel in Jasper on Monday on an excursion managed by Brewster. The rule in my itinerary was that I had to confirm my intention to travel from Jasper to Banff 48 hours before my booked trip. I started trying to reach Brewster Transportation on Friday, three days before my scheduled departure. When I called their posted number (800-760-6934) I got the response that my call was important and someone would be with me shortly. Not true. No one, not one person, could I reach. I called more than 10 times over the weekend, waiting at some point more than 30 minutes on hold, trying to reach Brewster so that I could confirm my travel and find out when I would be picked up. Three time over the weekend I heard the recording say, "If you would like to receive a callback when an agent is available to speak with you, please press 1". None of these messages were returned, leaving me not knowing whether my passage was confirmed - and worse, I couldn't tell when I would be picked up at the Crimson. My concerns were that I needed to confirm this trip: It was my one-way passage from Jasper to Banff, as well as my chance to see the Columbia icefields (which was part of the passage). If no one would tell me when I could expect to be picked up at the Crimson, I was screwed. And that's pretty much what happened: I tried without success to reach Brewster - due, entirely, to Brewster's failure to let me confirm the trip. I'm not complaining about the driver's refusal to wait - he or she had a job to do, and no one wants to wait for the laggard passenger. But it was wrong for Brewster to make it impossible for me to reach a human at Brewster. It was seriously wrong for Brewster to tell me (through its recording) that there was more than a 10 minute wait and that if I chose to request a callback I would be called back - that was a lie. It was also wrong for Brewster to put all calls on permanent hold over the 4th of July holiday. What happened next was, however, extraordinary, and spoke well of the Crimson and its management and front office staff. Emily and Danni were at the front desk when I learned the Brewster trip left without me. Working together, Emily and Danni went online and found a transfer that would get me to Banff by late afternoon. I couldn't get the benefit of the ice field excursion Kevin had booked for me, but I could at least get to Banff. I am profoundly grateful that Emily and Danni collaborated to figure out how to make this trip work. Well done!

We also had some scheduling issues with the Canadian 1 train being late, and they were able to accommodate us switching nights around. The first night had a bunk bed room and two showers (the one shower was standing only and about the size of the one on the train (the bonus being it didn't move)) and the second room was two double and a pullout couch and one big shower with deep tub and removable shower head. There is an included continental breakfast that my parents were impressed by, and I thought just ok, but I'm definitely not quibbling after the service!

We had to reserve our hot tub time which was limited to one 1/2 hour slot. During these Covid times that's better than nothing! They do not allow large equipment (skis or snowboards) into the rooms but they do have lockers that are free of charge to use. The parking lot is in the middle of the motel so most of the parking is convenient to the rooms. This motel seemed to be recently renovated as the exterior and interior of the rooms seemed modern and clean lines. The first room we had actually smelled like smoke which was very bothersome. Luckily they had an extra room and we were able to switch rooms to one that did not smell. This is also the only motel in Jasper that offers free breakfast! They breakfast was a simple check list style that you then bring to the cafeteria and they give you a to go box with your food / drinks. The coffee from the cafeteria is the same as the coffee in the rooms (not the best coffee but it does the job). We had a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich on an English muffin, a slice of banana bread, an apple, and a yogurt. Lots of food and we didn't even take all the things possible for us to take. Overall this motel was a good value for what we paid and I would stay here again! Jasper is small enough that this motel is close to everything in "downtown".

So they chose this one which was nearby but survived the fire. They also have previously stayed here before. I like that there is a river right across that you can go to in the mornings. After figuring out there are amenities at the front office, I started snooping out this one and found an espresso maker! With fresh milk. So I would come here in the mornings for my morning coffee fix. There are also books, board games, and a couple of binders with all the different menus from town (some need updating though). The staff was very friendly and welcoming and I was able to meet the daughter of the owners. We also went to the hot tub which was very nice. We weren't sure how the changing/shower room worked, so my husband avoided it when there were women using it. You can chop some wood for your fire place which we did. I really liked the cabins - they feel kind of homey. The couches are all nice and thematic, the artwork is not generic - I think I saw other pieces by the same artist around Jasper. There was a fridge, microwave, toaster, and an electric kettle. There was also a bathtub which I needed after one of our hikes. I also liked the lotion - it really helped my skin heal up. The patios were really cute, but we never used them because of mosquitos. We were in a cabin with a shared wall - you can hear the other side if they're playing loud music. Which my brother-in-law was. My in-laws got a standalone cabin which was really cute because it's like a cute little house. It would be perfect if you have younger kids who was some of their own space. These ones also have a stove - so some frozen pizzas were made. They are in the process of rebuilding the cabins. We weren't staying in the cabins during the day mostly so if there was noise I didn't notice. If you are driving into town, use the highway to avoid the train.

The room was very nice and we really enjoyed the experience. As long as their is a nice comfortable bed, a nice size clean bathroom and enough room to sit, I am happy. This place fit the bill. We were here as part of out Rocky Mountaineer trip and they had a staffer with a separate check in for us. You leave the train, they take you over by coach and the baggage is already in the room. The staff was fabulous and everyone was very attentive to any of our needs and always very accommodating. I had only one issue here... lots of people and not a lot of places to eat. A bar and restaurant. My wife and I are used to multiple choices and the ability to walk downtown if we want. Here that was really not an option. We came back late from a tour and it was difficult to be seated. The VERY NICE host took our name and really watched the flow of people and managed to get us in a bit earlier than the reservation we made. Food and atmosphere is good and our server did a wonderful job. (some food pictures attached as well as a separate review.) My folks stayed in a lower level queen room with a kitchenette, and that room was way nicer in terms of decor. It was also less than half the cost of the big goofy suite we stayed in, $140 a night versus $350. No dogs allowed in the suites, so add puppy-sitting to that cost, but they are allowed in other rooms. The king tower suite needs upgraded for the price, the decor is dated and just bad: off centre sconces and faded pictures, Chinese theme vases mixed with Italian rococo ones. Just a decorating disaster, feels like stuff was salvaged from the set of a 1970s porno and stuck in here randomly. Why not mountain themes in the decor, why the mixed cheap junk? The whole set up is awkward and unwelcoming. Lots of dead and unused space, silly little on/off gas fireplace, huge bar countertop with no purpose really other than a little bar sink now that the 1970s cocktail scene is a good 50+ years gone. There's only 2 wine glasses, 2 water glasses and 2 coffee cups. The suite feels incomplete, unfinished, and neglected. The best part about this suite is the huge bathroom: great big shower, 2 sinks, jacuzzi soaker tub. Truth be told, I got this suite for the tub, but I was a bit disappointed. The jacuzzi works fine but it's late 1980s style; the jets are not very powerful and the timer is weirdly at the bathroom door where you are guaranteed to accidentally hit it while trying to find the light switch. The tub it set up for 2 people to sit in different areas while resting their heads on tub cushions that are long gone, leaving behind awkward and pokey holsters. Kind of a dated let-down, like the rest of the suite. And why the crappy toiletries - "conditioning shampoo" - really? For $350 a night? All this aside, I liked the outdoor garden, and the facilities, rooms and property are kept very tidy. For a ski town, the place is immaculate. They start cleaning at 0900h, no lie, because of high turn-over. Check in is at 1600h, check out is 1100h. It's a very convenient location, with beautiful views all around, and we never had trouble finding a parking spot close to our room. The hotel was pretty much booked solid but it was never noisy and didn't feel crowded or busy, even over the long weekend. One must book significantly in advance, however, as tour groups stay here. I would definitely avoid higher level rooms in the summer, there is no air conditioning in any of the rooms, even the expensive suites. Fans are provided, but it's doubtful they would suffice on a hot day. We were on the 3rd floor on the second week in October, and the main living area was quite warm, never mind the tower where the bedroom is located. We had the fan on upstairs immediately, and it was only 23C outside. I think in the summer it would be unbearable, but for winter or spring it's perfect. Will try the pool and the onsite restaurant next time!

She said the Athabasca Hotel had the best breakfast in town, and we have to agree with her! There was absolutely no waiting to get in (unlike the Alberts/Dennys across the road) and the service was next to none. The waitress understood gluten free, asked the right questions and made some excellent suggestions. Our breakfast was delicious. I went with the eggs benedict and it was perfect especially with the handmade hashbrowns. My husband had steak and eggs and said it was perfect too. Would definitely go back again.

So, you share walls with 2 other rooms... one on the side and one behind. Each room has a little landing with 2 cute red Adirondack chairs. There are these red chairs at the front of the property too. Great for grabbing a pic. If the people (aka kids) in the room next to yours are playing / loud... you can definitely hear them through the walls. The room itself is fine albeit a little cramped as there is not any place to set up your things. We had an extra twin bed in our room, so we ended up laying out our suitcases on the bed to access our things. There is a small closet of sorts that also has a little fridge, electric kettle and small coffee maker. I used the kettle to warm up water for tea and it worked great. The closet has a few hangers but they are the kind of hangers that you cannot remove from the rod so it was a bit awkward. It would be nice if the property added some hooks in the room so that you could hang your coats and backpacks. Our room also had 2 chairs and a fireplace which was very cozy. We did use the fireplace a couple nights as it was nice to have a little fire as we relaxed for the evening. (Wood is available for purchase for $14 at the front desk.) The bathroom has a towel rack that you can set your toiletries, but it's not a large area. I highly recommend bringing a hanging toiletry bag as there are a couple of towel racks that you can use to hang it. If you need to do a bit of laundry, there are a couple of coin machines located behind/next to the lobby. The room also has a ceiling fan which is nice to circulate the air since it was a tad warm during the day. Thankfully, it cooled off at night and we could air out the room simply by opening the windows and turning on the fan. Parking is assigned ... thankfully! But just 1 car per room so if you have more than 1 car, you'll have to park on the street. The staff is friendly and helpful. Location is great.... at the end of a neighborhood set back near the hill... and just a short walk... about 10-15 minutes to that main part of town where the shops and restaurants are.

Disappointing and chaotic experience at this hotel, noisy rooms, and very poor customer service…read more Book another hotel in Jasper if you can if you are hoping for a nice, relaxed, and quiet stay. We arrived in Jasper on 29/30 June, past midnight, after a 400 mile drive in heavy rain and thunderstorms from Waterton NP. After checking in, a parking space (#13) was assigned to us, however it appeared to be in a narrow spot designed for a compact car (we drive an SUV!), and that may block the exit of other cars. We asked the receptionist if they could assign another spot and they said the parking lot of the hotel was filled to capacity and this (PS # 13) was the parking space "assigned" to us for our stay. We voiced concerns that due to arriving so late we were hoping to sleep in the next morning to get some rest after the long drive, so we didn't want to be woken up in the morning to have to move the car if needed to clear the way for other cars exiting. We were told this was the only parking spot left. The next morning (30 June) around 8 am while I was still sleeping, I received a call in the room from front desk, letting me know that I needed to move the car to a new assigned parking space (??) in order to make way for exiting cars (??) My prediction and worse fears from the previous night have come true! Parking spot #13 proved indeed NOT to be appropriate for an SUV, as we indicated the night before to the front desk staff. Waking us up in the morning to move the car to "another parking spot" seems extremely inconsiderate since the hotel staff were the ones who assigned us an inappropriate parking spot. Why were they assigning us a "new" spot now, when other hotel customers were assigned the SAME parking spot throughout their stay, and we were told at the time of check-in that this was our "assigned" parking spot throughout our stay? Why do customers have to pay the price for hotel staff's mistakes and planning errors? Half asleep I jumped from bed and went to the parking lot to move the car to a newly assigned parking spot as asked by hotel staff. While backing up the car from parking spot # 13, half asleep, and due to fatigue, I accidentally hit a car in parking space 5. All of this could have been avoided if the hotel staff assigned an appropriate parking spot when checking in, one that would stay the same for our entire stay. If parking spot #13 was indeed appropriate for parking an SUV, why was I asked to move the car to a DIFFERENT parking spot, rather than reposition our car in the same spot (#13)? This does not make much sense and indicates random decisions by hotel front desk, resulting in poor customer service and a stressful experience. It is concerning that the hotel staff assign incorrect parking spots due to lack of sufficient parking and poor planning, and then the customers have to suffer the consequences of bad planning on part of the hotel. See pictures showing that parking spot # 13 is for a small compact and was not appropriate for parking a large SUV. None of this would have happened if they planned their parking assignments appropriately and treated customers better. When we called the front desk to bring up the issue to their attention, they screamed at us telling us this is how they handle their business. It is quite clear that at this Inn, customer service and hospitality are NOT the priority for the hotel staff. Adding this to the noisy rooms it makes for a stressful and chaotic experience overall. Adding to our review with relevant information: front desk staff misinformed us that they were asking us to move from one parking lot to another at 8:00 am because we were "parked poorly"; this is misinformation x 3: (1) because parking spot #13 is tiny and confined between the car on one side and the big pillar on the other side so there's not much room either way (see pic); (2) if this was indeed the case, they would have asked us to reposition our car in spot 13, not move to another spot; (3) next day, another car was parked badly in spot 13 but no one at front desk seemed to care (see pic).
