This is the same place I used to go to back in the '90s -- and somehow it's still here. Now I'm back 35 years later with some of the same guys I was hanging out with back then, which honestly made the whole night pretty special. The place is a lot cleaner and brighter than I remember, and there are way more beer selections now. I feel like in the old days there was basically one option. Also, no popcorn all over the floor like I remember from back then -- the whole place feels much more updated and polished now. They also do karaoke now, and apparently it's a pretty big deal. There seemed to be a lot of regulars who clearly have karaoke night circled on their calendars. I didn't sing, but my friend got up and did a Quiet Riot song... which felt appropriate considering we're all straight out of the '90s ourselves. There's also a lot more seating now -- tall tables and stools instead of the little round tables that looked left over from the 1970s. I don't know when I'll be back, but if another occasion comes up where old friends are getting together and this is the chosen spot, I'm definitely in. read more

I just wanted to double down on my previous reviews so hopefully ownership will pay attention and turn this bar into what Sacramento needs. The bartender, Marissa is probably the worst I've come across in Sacramento; unprofessional and rude. They basically have given her control of the bar. It has karaoke every night which is wonderful, but if you get there after 9 you will probably sing once and get to listen to the bartender and the KJ sing multiple times before your first turn. They also are always out of their cheapest beer, what a coincidence. Some of the regulars are great people but that's the only thing that has kept this bar afloat. This place has been here forever Ive been here in the past this was my first time coming back in years. Came here with some friends we ordered drinks 17.50 for two beers which i thought wasn't bad for the area. This place is the same as I remember it nice and still welcoming good mood lighting unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible. Mike is an amazing bartender he was fast with our drinks love him. On my second visit!!! Erin the lady running the karaoke was crazy i asked her how far was i in the que and she said after 10 more singers. I was ok with that cause i wanted to go outside,so i proceeded to tell her ok good cause i was going outside to get fresh air and i only asked because one of the people i came with was called up to sing. I wasn't trying to be rude or insinuating but she got an attitude and told me i was being rude but i think it was because if you tip you get to sing earlier than most i was confused so i just walked away. I was at the bar talking with my friends and was pushed into really hard I almost knocked over my man and another friend. To my surprise it was the Dj she purposely knocked into me!!! she is lucky i didn't press charges she assaulted me and i am disabled. the only reason i didn't press charges was because of mike he said he will deal with it he even checked the cameras and was very upset that she did that watch out that girl has issues. read more

My only Complaint is Karoke on Saturdays you may have to sit there all night to get maybe 2 songs, the Kj who runs it, seems all the women go first. Iv seen people walk in after me and go ahead of me, depending who is working KJ and the bartender makes the experience good/bad My Favorite Days is Sundays & Monday I think Both Kjs are nice and they truly do first come first serve.. some Guest can he unwelcomeiing to unfamiliar singers but I understand this part is no fault of Pine Cove..one guest was Rude Said, *OK the Song is over" while I was on the last few words of my Karoke song. Even if my song was over I wanted tk do few more sentence or 2 due to the fact I waited 3 hours before I did my first Karoke Song then 2.5 hours later to do my second. read more

Was SO excited to try this place. I had high hopes of finding my new weekly karaoke spot, but was very off-put by the attitudes of staff. Not even 30 secs in the door and staff runs to the door and pretty aggressively tells us to show IDs. Being IDed at the door is expected, obviously, but the man who IDed us was agitated off the bat and immediately made us both very uncomfortable. We sat down for about 3 mins when the same agitated man rushes up to us again (and again, pretty aggressively for a casual night at a dive bar? Odd energy that felt erratic and unsafe). The man tells us with an attitude to buy a drink or we couldnt do karaoke. Again, normal and expected to have a drink minimum, but it felt unnecessarily aggressive to follow us to our table and demand we spend money within the first 5 mins of being at the bar. Very condescending and honestly pretty pathetic to harass customers for money like this. I was fully planning on buying a couple drinks, coming back weekly and continuing to spend (lots!) of money there. This interaction, however, left such a sour taste in my mouth. So tacky and unprofessional to demand money I was already planning on giving you just bc I'm not forking it over "fast enough." So we left without spending a dime. You have a nice building. We brought my 82 year old mom here to reminisce as she met my dad, who passed away 5 years ago, here over 60 years ago. The bartender carded us and my 31 year old daughter did not have her ID so he asked her to wait outside. Mind you she does not get carded anywhere else and does not look anywhere near under the legal limit to drink. It should be noted, that my mother, had to muster up every single bit of energy she has to climb the stairs there since she has a bad knee and normally uses a walker. The bartender was so rude that we left immediately. The only thing that comes to mind is that they must've gotten in trouble for serving underage people because this situation was totally uncalled for. read more

I have been to this place in the past and the vibe has always been the same, people singing karaoke and several others cheering, singing and dancing along. Additionally, the bar tenders were friendly and fast- I ordered pitchers of beer instead of individuals for our group, the DJ was also friendly and fair. Plan to wait at least an hour and half to get to do your karaoke, so put your name in early. They also have free area for metal head darts but you have to bring your own. read more

Kiki's is a nice little bar upstairs and has a cool environment with a little stage, a Luce DJ and Karaoke. They have decent selection of beer. No Woodford reserve but they have makers mark which is alright. No food, but you can order food, which we did. I doordash Kiki's chicken and it came in about 15 min. I had a lot of fun. Pine Cove was recommended to me by my budtender. I told him I needed a new spot for karaoke, and he said this place was very good. He was right. 6/5 for the KJ, the Karaoke, the patrons, and the vibes. Can't be beat. Unfortunatly the rest of the place doesn't really measure up. The only other entertainment while you wait is two arcade machines, one of which the joystick and buttons are broken (the first player, you can't play second player only) There is NO pool table (some reviews say that there is one, they have never had a pool table) There is a dart board, but too many people to throw darts. And several reviews mentioned this was a dive bar, with dive bar pricing and drink specials. There were no drink specials, no happy hour, and with only one person out of three drinking, it cost us nearly $100 for the 2 hours we were there. I forgot to grab my receipt, but I am guessing they charge for all non-alcoholic drinks. So for all the rest of it, 2/5. The food vendor out front hit the spot, so that brings it up a bit. If you have the funds and want a top tier karaoke experience, go to the Pine Cove. Otherwise there are cheaper bars out there where you get to sing more often, with similarly super friendly people. read more

Terrible, they ask that you buy a drink to participate non or alcoholic ok that's fine but when KJ picks a d chooses whom she wants yes that's right pay to play and get passed over multiple rotations to the my guest noticed it, its not the first time so if this is the way that you treat paying customers well then I take my business elsewhere, there were African Americans there but only o e was allowed to sing and he came in and got list, wh I won't be returning, first time was on a Wednesday so they can keep the excuses, the KJ is why I wouldn't recommend this place read more

So, me, my husband and our girlfriend have come to this establishment twice now and, on both occasions, the KJ bumped me way down on the list... There is no way I should have been singer number 41 when the same people kept going up over and over again... The drinks are OKish, but it would be great if the KJ was a little more friendly and did not play favorites. read more

Dear Pine Cove Management, I am writing to formally report a serious and troubling incident that occurred last night--Thursday, June 26, 2025--at your bar during karaoke night. I've been a longtime supporter of Pine Cove and have always considered it a fun and welcoming space, but what I experienced between 8:15p and 10:04 p.m. last night left me feeling unsafe, humiliated, and physically at risk--due entirely to the actions of your staff. While I was there, a male patron shoulder-checked me--twice--with deliberate and aggressive force, two separate times during the evening. Later, I saw another man speaking to him a white man. Not knowing he was a staff member, I quietly warned him, saying something like, "Be careful--he doesn't like women," based on the behavior I had just experienced. Roughly 30 to 40 minutes later, the same white man approached me and falsely accused me of flipping him off and heckling "everyone." These accusations were simply untrue. The only person I reacted to was the man who had physically harassed me, and that was during his karaoke performance. I made no rude gestures and did not heckle anyone else. When I questioned why I was being removed, the employee said, "It's your word against mine." At that point, it became clear I was being kicked out not because of my behavior, but because the staff member appeared to be protecting his friend--the man who had harassed me. I was being retaliated against for standing up for myself. Before leaving, I confirmed with the female bartender that I had paid and tipped. She verified that everything was settled. As I made my way to the stairs, I tipped over two empty, unoccupied bar stools--an expression of frustration, not a threat. No one was hurt, and nothing was damaged. Then the situation escalated even further. The same female bartender who had previously been friendly suddenly yelled profanities at me and shoved me with enough force that I nearly fell down the stairs. I weigh about 180 pounds, and she had at least 100 pounds on me. There was no excuse for that kind of physical aggression. It was reckless, dangerous, and unjustified. Importantly, my partner, a male, was with me the entire time and witnessed everything--from the initial shoulder-checkings to the final shove. He can attest that I did not flip anyone off, that I was not heckling people, and that I was physically assaulted as I attempted to leave peacefully. To summarize: * I was physically harassed by a male patron. * I was falsely accused and removed by a staff member who appeared to be friends with the man who harassed me. * I was physically assaulted by a bartender as I exited I was told "it's your word against mine," despite having a witness who observed the entire incident. Because of the seriousness of what occurred, I am formally requesting that you review any and all available video surveillance footage from Thursday, June 26, 2025, between 8:15 p.m. and 10:04 p.m. That footage should clearly confirm the following: * I made no inappropriate gestures. * I was not heckling other patrons. * The bartender did shove me with force near the stairs. * I left the premises without threatening or endangering anyone. I am requesting the following: 1. A formal acknowledgment of this incident. 2. A full internal review of the conduct of the staff involved. 3. A written commitment that physical aggression by staff toward patrons will not be tolerated. 4. A statement on Pine Cove's policies around retaliation and harassment. 5. A plan for immediate staff training on de-escalation, harassment response, and anti-discrimination. If I do not receive a response within 7 business days, I will escalate this matter to the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and explore additional options for formal accountability. This complaint is not just about how I was treated--it's about whether Pine Cove stands by values of safety, fairness, and respect. Cute little upstairs spot. Cool friendly crowd, bartender with tattoos and SF hat was awesome, love that they have a Rampage arcade machine, but the KJ with curly hair kept calling the same ppl. The location is alright. It's in Midtown/almost East Sac. It's near the highway and there are bus stops nearby. No light rail stations close enough to be useable but there are bikes and scooters available to rent. The bartender was friendly and brought an inviting vibe with him. The inside has a dive bar feel for the area. Reminds me of an old wooden saloon from the old western days. They have a little area to dance if you'd like. They also have one of those new touchscreen jukeboxes that you can pay for. The craftsmanship in their drinks is great. My Moscow Mule was phenomenal, not too gingery but just enough. Their prices are on par with your average bar. You should be able to walk out of here under $20 and have a buzz. There is no karaoke on mondays though :( Bottom Line/TLDR: great service read more

Fun place! The place is upstairs and it's a bit sketchy parking but overall just an overall fun atmosphere to chill with friends and sing your heart out. Came here on a friday. Karaoke starts at 9 and my friends and i got there at 8:30 to get good seats and get our drinks. While the place was hopping, it didn't get claustrophobically packed. They have 2 arcade games, and some dart boards. The bathrooms were clean. The karaoke hostess has a great voice! No food here so eat before hand or afterwards. Pine Cove is your typical dive, it's dark and dank and has its regulars. I mean it's been around forever! They have a little back parking lot that you can often nab a spot in which is nice. We came for Karaoke and based on reviews seems to be this places downfall but we had no issues at all. We arrived around 10pm and it was pretty full but found a spot right behind the karaoke stage which was in perfect view of the screen. I hadn't had enough liquid courage that night so I was simply a bystander of the nights events but our friend put her name on the list and was told it would be almost a 2 hour wait. She slide him a $20 and she sang her heart out about 30 minutes later. So yes, if you tip the karaoke DJ you can get bumped to the top, if not be prepared for a longggggg wait til your turn. It's the nature of beast unfortunately. The music choices were all over the place which I absolutely loved. It went from The Cranberries - Zombie to Miley Cyrus the Climb to Blackstreet to Nikki Minaj to Journey! Drinks were decently priced, I stuck to beer but our other group members enjoyed their mixed cocktails. Staff was constantly walking around gathering empty cups and bottles as well so it appeared well kept. Overall we had a blast and while I didn't actually sing karaoke, I still belted out songs from the background. This review is specifically for the male kj (for reference - he was working Friday, 11/1/24). I have a large group of friends that enjoy going to Pine Cove for karaoke. We usually try to go when Lorissa is working as she is always a blast! However, there have been more than a couple occasions where there has been another kj there who has been extremely condescending and rude to our predominantly-female group. He seems to completely lack any kind of customer service skills and is either unable or unwilling to equitably manage the large list of singers on busy nights, even when he is being tipped. We were very disappointed to hear that Lorissa will no longer kj at Pine Cove. Unfortunately, we have been treated poorly by this other kj enough times that we are no longer coming in for karaoke on nights when he is working. I sincerely hope the owners are able to find a replacement for Lorissa soon. We love the bartenders and the entire atmosphere really, but this guy totally ruins the good time with his poor attitude. read more

Found my new favorite drink, Marissa recommended me a press with flavored vodka, because I said I liked mojitos. They clocked me and delivered a beverage I loved. Amazing, truly a talent. As for the karaoke. Incredible. It was a Tuesday night and had a solid 30ish people crowd. I got to sing multiple songs. And everyone was super into it. Finally came back after a 12 year hiatus (moved away). The place has changed a bit, but the aura of the place is still there! Changes: *Hardwood floors *Lighted dart board area *Karaoke stage *No more Pabst!!! The mini pitchers are still there ... Thank God! Even though we came on a Wednesday, instead of Thursday, it was still somewhat busy for Karaoke... What I didn't like.... There was no rhyme or reason to the order of who sang in stage and what order. When there's a line of people waiting to sing, I don't believe the person in charge of the karaoke should get up on stage. Overall, The Cove has been remodeled and cleaned up, but the old karaoke essence is gone. read more
