Didn't think I'd ever be in a position to rate a city dump, but here we are. I recently had a remodel done in the bathroom and had some larger items that weren't able to be placed curbside for pickup. Naturally, you could do the "I'll just put a little out this week... and next..." and so on, but I checked and found that for a car load, you could visit the dump and get rid of everything for $4.00. Yes, $4 bucks. So, I loaded the SUV with all the stuff that was too large to be picked up and off I went. The folks were extremely helpful. They asked if there was anything hazardous and what types of things I was dumping. I explained it was my inaugural run and the guys working there told me exactly where to go. Once there, you just dump whatever you have on the ground in the spot they tell you to dump it, and off you go. Very easy. read more

Go there on a frequent basis . Everyone is super , super helpful . Usually a quick in and out . Pricing is fair . I'm not fond of the South landfill that's for glass, mirrors and tile only . For a government agency , it's run well and staffed beautifully . read more

We've used the dump on 2 occasions because we are moving so we had a lot of big items to get rid of. I seriously can't believe how nice- I mean really nice and helpful- EVERYONE is! Kudos to the staff! Great people working in the booth and the guy that was directing people where to go in the hand drop off area (same guy was there both times) is terrific. It's very reasonable in price and organized extremely well. The area we were in doesn't smell- like the Hillsborough County dump. That place is so gross. read more

Normally, I wouldn't feel the need to write a review of our county dump. I was frankly surprised how easy it was to drop things off. We had a surge protector and a iron weight lifting bar that we needed to dispose of. We knew that neither were appropriate to leave for our curbside pickup. The surge protector needed to be dropped off at the electronic dump which is just two driveways south of the main dump entrance. There is no charge for dropped electrical equipment, paint or any toxic materials. We needed to go to the main dump entrance to drop off the barbell. We were charge $2 (the minimum). They tell you where to drive and you empty the trash yourself. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Always be mindful of what can or can't go into you curve-side trash cans. How can a dump get five stars you ask? I find this place has some nice features compared to a few others I've been to in my lifetime. First, there are no bears wandering around searching for food or unsuspecting dumpers with slow reflexes. This is a big plus! Also, there isn't some guy living there to watch the place and make sure nobody steals anything?! Third, there are not families and children picking through it as there unfortunately are in another countries I won't name here. Finally, they will take your metal items and recycle it, your biodegradable items and biodegrade them, and your chemicals and computers and nasty bits and do something appropriate with them. read more

Recently attended the solid waste facility tour, usually held on Saturdays. Check their excellent website for dates. This tour consisted of an hour discussion of how the facility works, and a bit on Tampa recycling. They make it very clear that NO recycling materials ever go the the waste-to-energy plant or to the landfill. Only 'garbage/waste' goes to the WtE facility or landfill. Excellent information on how and what should be recycled in this county. If you think your right, likeI did, I guarantee that you will find you are recycling incorrectly for Pinellas County!!! After the room lecture there was a hour tour of the WtE plant and landfill. Sounds crazy, but I think Everyone should be required to attend, I think it's that important! read more

I'm just one person trying to do the right thing by not putting recyclable materials in the trash like 99.9% of Florida does. Came with a small bag of aluminum and plastic. Wanted a bin to put my things in and go. Found drive up scales, $4 fee and an employee who told me to just put my things in the trash. Make it easier for people trying to do right thing and just do better. read more

The Lady (if you could call her that) at the chemicals collections station was very rude and in essense a very untruthful liar. She told me i could come back with my personal paint dropoff and drop off paint. When i came back she said no I will not let you. She was very unprofessional. Sad to say Pinellas county has to hire people like this. read more

The dump area of this facility is top shelf. Have always had great customer service. Met with a friendly person at the front gate to take our money. Always. The electronics and chemical drop is the complete opposite. They people there were rude, not helpful, barking orders. I will NEVER go out of my way to go there again to properly dispose of stuff.
