It's just around the corner and across the the street from the Gloucester tube station. The Piccadilly line (to Heathrow and St Pancras station) as well as the Circle line run from there. The 47 bus stop literally outside the door of the hotel. The Natural History and V&A Museums are 3 blocks away. There are plenty of good restaurants around. I've had a wonderful stay here and only wish it was longer.

When we got there, the non-enthusiastic front desk staff told us that the elevator (lift) didn't work and would be fixed within hours and directed us to room 814 which was through some doors, down a flight of stairs, and through more doors. And once we entered our room, we discovered that it was about as big as a jail cell and with one window looking out into the rear of the hotel. It was an alley of sorts and they kept the mop and broom right outside our window. And the telephone didn't work either, so whenever we needed to speak to the hotel staff we'd have to go up stairs to do so. How quaint! Though the lift never was fixed through out our stay, the air conditioning worked, and the shower was powerful. The wifi was free! And... outside of that it was all crap. The rooms at $160/night were terrible for the price. They really should look into lowering the price. We stayed at Kensington Rooms Hotel, two blocks away later on and it was much better! The rooms were modern, efficient, and the elevator worked. Even though we didn't get bit by bedbugs, I'd likely NEVER stay here again, but I'd like to suggest to the managers to hire staff who hadn't been lobotomized or at least can manage a smile. And not to lie to their guests about an elevator that will never work. And lastly to make sure their guests have the basics - like a telephone that would function. Stay here if you are wanted by the police, need to hide out, and don't want to be bothered. Don't stay here if you are accustomed to even the lowest level of customer service.

Their photocopying (self-service) is also useful in doing all variants (double-sided, etc) up to A3. I just wish the staff - of whom there seem to be quite a lot for such a small shop - could be more consistently cheerful. There is proper studio lighting equipment and the best is that the photographer takes a number of photos and lets you chose which one you like the most before it gets printed. There are too many times where you take photos like this and may go... ick. Now, don't ask for 20 retakes but it is okay to ask to retake just a couple more if you'd like. The place could get busy during lunch time so I'd recommend going maybe a little bit before or after.

We discovered this photography studio, quite by accident, while on vacation in London. The studio…read moreis located in the lower level of a gift shop directly across the street from Harrods Department Store. We did not plan on taking professional photos but we got caught up in the idea and the various costumes available (Tudor, Old West, Gangster, etc). We chose "Tudor" and were quickly taken into a room so we could change and choose which headpieces we wanted to wear as well as rings and swords. The photographer was very professional and the sitting took about one hour. There was a variety of poses and props that we used and after the sitting we had over 125 photos to choose from. We had big laughs looking at the photos while sitting on a sofa in front of a big screen TV. In the end we decided on four photos and decided on a package plan which included digital copies. The price was fair and the photos were also retouched to give us flawless complexions which is always flattering. I recommend seeking out Old & New Photography Studio for your photographic needs. Have a good time and remember to have fun and get caught up in the moment. We did!
