truly the best decision i've ever made i can honestly say coming here has changed my life in every possible way. the staff here is beyond amazing -- they don't just do their jobs, they care. like really care. every single person goes out of their way to make sure you feel supported, seen, and heard. This is NOT the place to go if you are struggling with your mental health. I was self-admitted due to a need for mental health support for anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation. It didn't take long to realize that this is very much an addiction rehab and almost none of their sessions directly related to mental health education, DBT, or support. They also heavily push meds here. I was on 6 different anxiety/antidepressant/antipsychotic meds, most of which (or perhaps the combination) made me physically sick, nauseous, and I would go days without eating. For the solution to this from nursing, I was given protein shakes and then was given MORE meds to deal with the side effects of these. When I asked to be taken off one, I was told I was "refusing meds" which at NO point did I refuse something that was needed for me to take. This went on for weeks. After three weeks of treatment, I was abruptly "administratively discharged" by my therapist, just one week before my expected end date. I was told that their facility was "not equipped" to handle my needs, despite having been completely transparent from the time of my intake about my mental health issues. They even claimed my depression was getting worse while there, which unfortunately was accurate. While I understand that there are varying standards for treatment progress, I am deeply concerned that my discharge was handled inappropriately. Specifically: * I was discharged without any follow-up care or referral to ongoing mental health services, despite having suicidal thoughts and self-harm behaviors that my therapist and the treatment team were fully aware of. Again, all of this was mentioned in my intake before I even started. * Upon immediate discharge (literally, immediate. I was not allowed back inside, even to say goodbye to friends) I was given a month's worth of medication, including sleeping pills, without a clear aftercare plan, despite the potential risks for misuse or overdose. This risk was known to my therapist and the medical team, as we had to report suicidal ideation daily on our medical notes. * I was not provided with any support or guidance to manage my transition out of inpatient care safely. The team was aware that I live alone, yet I was sent home with a bag full of a month's worth of medication and no follow-up or additional support from anyone at Pinnacle Peak Recovery. This discharge left me feeling abandoned and unsupported, which is especially troubling given the severity of my mental health needs at the time. Additionally, I felt I was completely rejected by my therapist, with whom I had built a trusting relationship. She essentially gave up on me. Looking back, I believe this situation endangered my well-being and was not consistent with the standards of care expected from a licensed mental health facility that claims to treat mental health disorders. They need to take "mental health" off their website. This place is strictly a 12-step program for those with substance abuse disorders and should NOT be claiming otherwise. I do want to add that the BHPPs and the other instructors/staff were very kind, wonderful people. I genuinely enjoyed getting to know most of them and have made connections with people from this program that I will have friendships with long term . The way my discharge was handled, and the lack of actual support for those with mental health issues during my time there had nothing to do with them. Overall, please DON'T come here for mental health! My situation could have been deadly if I wasn't lucky enough to have a support system back home. Find a different place. This isn't it. read more

Pinnacle Peak Recovery - Rehabilitation Center Near Me - Scottsdale, Arizona

My spouse was admitted to pinnacle nov 23' for alcoholism w/co-occurring disorders - very clearly discussed co-occurring treatment for anxiety / social anxiety @ intake. Now after 13 months post rehab we're learning the anxiety may be stemming from hereditary ADD / ADHD, OCD along w/depression and a legacy of avoidant problem solving / communication styles. At week 3 a counselor told my husband and a few others that he was wealthy, didn't need to work but worked at pinnacle to help lead others to sobriety as a way to help himself stay sober, and that all they really needed was to make the choice and have the sheer willpower. That's right - a counselor from a holistic recovery center advocated white knuckling it. And while that may work for folks who don't have co-occurring disorders or a wake of damage to their relationships, and other functional areas of their lives, to deal with in addition to addiction (many folks do have these complexities) - this counselors lack of insight and wisdom have done significant harm, especially since at 13 months in my husband is still parroting that crap with pride. I believe strongly that this counselor did a major disservice to pinnacle and what their literature says they stand for - treatment for co-occurring and family support is why we chose them. I believe this counselor did a major disservice to my husband who still believes 13 months later that all he needs is willpower - which allowed him to lean into his avoidant problem solving and communication style and paved the path for not going deeper to potentially uncover ADD / ADHD, avoidance and other co-occurring as factors to be discussed and explored. And I believe this counselor did a disservice to our family - adding insult to injury by damaging our family with this ignorant stance and a complete lack of insight. Husband is still sober - so choose pinnacle if you're only looking for sobriety and not recovery (2 very different things). But if you want recovery and healing for you and your loved ones, look elsewhere. By the way, we searched nationally for a recovery focused on holistic, co-occurring care and family support. We got neither. After they called to confirm my husband was picked up at the airport, it was crickets inspite of a promise of frequent contact. i left messages at week 3 for both his intake specialist and lead counselor, and didn't even get a return call. And agreed with other reviews - they push meds and will call you non compliant if you choose to go off alcohol cessation and sleep meds post detox (meds that are highly addictive in their own right). We weren't interested in swapping addictions - we were interested in holistic, co-occurring care that included family support and they didn't come close to delivering. 2 stars for sobriety though. Final note in all due fairness - my husband may have taken 1 comment from a conversation, missing its contextual nuance since ADD / ADHD causes issues with attention and focus, and his mind may have settled in on the 1 comment as a way to protect his avoidance. Who knows. But counselors should know better, by far. read more

I have left 5 messages for various "leaders" and have not received a single phone call back. And, my family memeber was found without discharge paperwork nor medication. These are not resposible actions. I strongly recommend that readers consider the abundance of "fabulous" "best experience of my life" reviews. Not logical or practical in this industry. The current staff at the facility is nowhere near as depicted on their web site, there aren't that many staff members there. The Behavioral Health Techs "BHT's", are ran/managed by Colby H., the guy with the review on this site. Most of the staff has had experience with addiction, which is a benefit, they know what you are going through, and many are only several months ahead of the clients they are supposed to serve. The problem I experienced was that the staff was obviously uneducated, inexperienced (manager was 26 years old) and certainly not trained. The BHT's turned into petty tyrants, enforcing rules and procedures that only they were aware of and then threatened the Clients with loss of cell phone or other penalties at their sole discretion. This was an obstacle to recovery for the Clients and I left after a little over a week because of it. The food is absolutely horrible, which is one thing I believe all of the Clients will attest too. On average, each Client's insurance is paying anywhere from $4,200 to $5,000 +, daily, dependent upon when you see the Therapist. Certainly, only a very small portion of the daily fee is used to feed the Clients and the staff are generally around $18-$20/hour, so somebody is pocketing a lot of money. There was a Lady there that worked harder than anyone, she was the cleaner but there was only one of her. She never stopped and was consistently cleaning and scrubbing, it just was impossible for one Lady to clean and care for this whole facility. Due to the quality of the food, most of the Clients suffered from explosive diarrhea, evidenced by the amount of feces left under the toilet seat lids and bowels. Due to the shortage of the cleaning staff, the men's bathroom was only cleaned once the week + that I was there. The showers are always notoriously cold as the facility only has a very small water heater and a recirculating pump that obviously isn't calibrated correctly. Some of the Clients were getting sick due to the uncleanliness and close proximity of other Clients, I tested positive for Covid right after I left. We never saw, met, nor had any contact whatsoever with the Facility Director. My understanding of the recovery program and why the Clients are sequestered in the facility is so they may concentrate on their recovery without the additional stresses of the outside world. However, the items noted above compounded the stress instead of alleviating it. The items above are the issues I had with the facility, and I refused to stay any longer. On the other hand, the Therapist, Kristian, Bryon; 2/3's of the BHT's such as Cammy, Marisa and the Group Facilitators, such as Tawney, Renee, Frank were fantastic and a pure pleasure to be associated with. The other Clients and the sober participants that where or had been part of the program were also remarkable; very open, caring, and accepting. If the facility can get some educated staff, trained properly and have some contact with upper management, owner's, directors to hear and address the Clients concerns this could be a worthwhile facility. read more

For being in residential treatment for the first time, this was a great experience. Between staff and clients I felt cared about and that they genuinely wanted to see me become healthy. I have made some valuable relationships while here that I know will have a lasting impact on my life and couldn't have found elsewhere. Im so grateful for the time that I had at Pinnacle Peak! I was an emotional wreck when i came through the doors and wasn't even sure I wanted to get sober. The staff was friendly and made me feel right at home. The overall morale was definitely spread out through the other patients I was there with and even they were extremely caring and helpful when I was going through the early stages recovery. I was able to not only get real help and feedback to help me with my addiction but also got to work through past traumas with the therapists and grief that I hadn't properly dealt with. By the time I graduated I felt like family and was able to continue with the amazing alumni services that are offered. Beware!! Completely a scam. It's dangerous that these people are in business. You will be promised thing's they willill not deliver. Get everything in writing before you go in..my advice stay clear. They are under investigation for breaking many laws. They won't tell you that. Staff is unprofessional. They pray on people in desperate situations but if you voice any concerns they throw you out. They will also try to tell you that they can hold your things for 72 hours if you leave this includes medication and phones. That is untrue and illegal!!! Awful place stay away!!! read more

Pinnacle Peak Recovery helped save my life. Prior to attending their program, I had been to 6 different rehabs. I just never was able to attain any type of long term sobriety--no matter how badly I wanted it. Pinnacle gave me a chance at a life that, as an IV heroin and meth addict, I never thought possible. I still use the tools and coping skills that I learned at Pinnacle in my life today. Pinnacle Peak helped me build a solid foundation and support network which really set me up for a chance to succeed. Pinnacle Peak Recovery has a great and caring client facing staff, unfortunately what matters in good treatment is consistent client care behind the scenes, and it would seem that whomever is directing the overall program has no grasp of integrity. I contacted PPR to enter their RTC program and made it clear prior to signing any contracts that I had specific simple accommodations that needed to be met in order for me enter a 30 day treatment program with them in good faith. I was told this would be no problem whatsoever prior to signing a contract, reaffirmed that these would be met by employees 3 different departments. PPR did not meet their end of verbally binding and recorded conversation. This is very problematic as their entire client/staff relationship is supposed to be based off trust, their was no regard for the integrity of their word. Not only that, they did absolutely nothing to rectify or explain the situation which is honestly all I would've needed to drop the issue. I had to call them 5 times over the course of a week and still received no explanation whatsoever for their miscommunication. THEY DID NOT EVEN PROVIDE ME WITH REFERRALS! This was the point that I realized that PPR is run by a bunch of bad actors in an industry where unfortunately the consequences will probably be that a lot of sick people will be left worse off. I don't understand how it's impossible to impart therapeutic tooling to clients like honesty, integrity and accountability when the administration here seems completely void of these concepts. Lesson learned, as I am now reporting my experience to CIGNA, the State and Joint Comission. Additionally, I was able to observe some additional safety and privacy violations that will hopefully be fixed before additional sick people and their insurance companies get taken advantage of. read more

I must say I didn't know what to expect coming in. Over a 3 month stay I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I some of the nicest and caring people that actually poured their lives into mine. I received very beneficial treatment in therapy. I now have graduated and moved on back into the real world where I am implementing the tools I garnered from the program. Life is always gonna be life but I feel I am appropriately equipped to handle any impediments life decides to toss my way. I came In to Pinnacle Peak not knowing what my next move in life was. I struggled with depression and anxiety among other things when I walked through the doors. I was also running from some legal trouble. It was not my first time as I had been in a handful of other treatment centers. What I think is different about pinnacle was the atmosphere. I completed 90 days, then 3 more months of evening outpatient. Many of the staff are in recovery themselves so they genuinely care and get it. I learned so much in individual therapy. The groups were fun! And I learned so much more than just about addiction. Everything that comes with it... family dynamics, codependency, love addiction. I even had a session with my parents and my therapist. I got so much more than I ever expected. I struggled with cravings my first 30 days. That's why I'm glad I stayed. By the time I was in the next phase I really felt ready to face the world. I will take the skills with me and still think about many of the lessons I was taught by it just my individual therapist, but the whole team that works together. At 2 years sober I actually have gone back to my therapist I met at pinnacle and I am seeing her for therapy again to continue to grow. They also showed me how to have fun, with weekly outings, BBQ, talent show. And as an alumni, the weekly alumni meeting has been an honor to go back to and stay in touch. They also have events for alumni which I attended where we did laser tag and bowling. It sounds cliche but when they say they are a family, I do feel apart of it.
