It's your usual church that seats (guessing) 350. There was so little space that the Kiev Chorus ended up either doing "SurroundSound", or facing the front part of the sanctuary instead of the congregation (see photo). Acoustics are neither great nor horrible. Bathroom capacity is more for their usual Sunday attendance than for an event like this, when they were close to overflow. Lawn parking - nice surroundings.

Taking the advice of an Elite Yelper, I chose Grace based on her description which was exactly as she stated. People are warm and friendly, free coffee and donuts , impactful teaching of the word of God peppered with personal testimony really struck a chord. I've been traveling and missed worshipping with others, but after this past week was so happy to walk into a church where it felt like family. For Lent, I have been posting about the many ministries that Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church supports, including those that help the local homeless population, the rebuilding of Haiti, Madagascar missionaries, orphans in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas, among many others. There are many seniors in our communities that would literally go hungry if it were not for this program. This church operates a very tight and efficient route. I have volunteered at other pick up points, however they were not nearly as organized or efficient as this one. If you are interested in delivering for meals on wheels, get in touch with Seniors First. In addition to meals on wheels, the church also offers an adult care center. You can easily see and hear the exercises going on at any given morning. A child day care center is on site as well. The church is well kept and has a nice garden area for reflection.

Jim Henry is the draw at this church. If you haven't heard him preach, you haven't experienced one…read moreof the finest preachers in the country. His messages are relevant, full of humor, and deeply embedded in Scripture. The choir is growing. Derric Johnson, who used to conduct and put together the acapella groups at Disney, is doing a phenomenal job of getting fun, active participation from each person. This church isn't for you if you like a praise group and a rock band, but honestly, who isn't bored with the rock and roll wannabes shouting praise choruses endlessly? This church is the way it used to be: good hymns sung by people who really care about each other. And that's what you'll notice at Downtown Baptist. People are super, super friendly and kind. The loss of a star comes from the congregation skewing much older. It's hard for people younger than 45 to find their place. That population is growing, so I'll update this review as the church grows and changes. Definitely worth a visit and maybe even stay awhile.
