A great sprinkler service company. Usually when you call you get the voicemail, which is recorded by one of the owners Renee. I leave a message asking to schedule an appointment or if I have an issue, and she always calls back later to confirm the appointment or discuss my issue. I also get a confirmation email with my appointment time, and they text me when the tech is on the way to my house. The last time I had my sprinklers winterized, Jerry Piper himself came out, and it's nice to interact with the actual owners of the company. They have done my regular winter/spring work on my sprinklers, as well as repair them pretty substantially when I first bought the house. They do great work, definitely recommend. read more

I wish more service companies operated the way Piper does. I had a problem with a leaking sprinkler box and scheduled an appointment. The man who took my call was very professional and when appointment day came I was texted when the service technician was headed my way. A half hour later and on time he went right at fixing the problem- actually two repairs were needed but 30 minutes later he had everything fixed and was on his way. What was most impressive was he wasn't looking to add more time or parts to beef the bill up. The technician was prompt, honest, hardworking and very courteous. I used to use Swingle which wasn't bad but these guys are a cut above and won a new customer. Definitely recommend Piper Sprinkler. read more

For the second year repairs require outside contracting as the field person seems unable to complete properly. Also I just returned from outside the country last week . This morning the above ground water control apparently was never shut off, froze then thawed followed by valve bursting with water. So much for winterizing. This is the 4th bizarre incident. read more

They were on time and knowledgeable about the work to be done. I would suggest that you get in writing exactly what they are going to do and the approximation of how much it would cost. I was told that if they replaced the entire valve it would be $350. Should have gotten into specifics as that was the price of the part not to install it. The total cost was $750 which I think was higher than it should have been. I was told by the service man when I questioned the price that "sprinkler systems are expensive you know". I know that now! We have used Piper Sprinkler Company for several years now and have always received prompt, courteous and impeccable service for both snow removal, extremely complex water features and a large irrigation system. We had tried several other companies before Piper but they simply did not have the technicians skilled or knowledgeable to perform the work properly. I've been using Piper for about 6 years. At this point, the owner (Jerry) is doing all the work. Jerry's obviously very good! They've had trouble keeping reliable people employed during these boom times, and I think this explains most of the previous negative reviews. I am nursing along an old sprinkler system, and Piper has done a good job of keeping it going without breaking the bank. I tried twice to set up an appointment for an estimate on installing a full sprinkler system in my yard. I was told that estimates were only performed between 11 and 2 on weekdays and was promised that someone would call me back. I never received that call and left a message several days later. One week later, still no call. This will easily be a $6K to $7K job. I guess they don't need the business. read more

I had my sprinkler system installed by someone else around 10 years ago, but have been using Piper for about five years for the autumn blow out and drain service. Last year I called them for a repair and today they were here for a new repair (not related to last year's in other words). I've always had wonderful service they arrive in the two hour window given. The technicians I've worked with have been very knowledgeable and courteous. I do some of my own minor repairs as well as the spring start up. This has never been a problem with Piper; in fact today's visit was to re-do a repair I had attempted and ran into trouble. I had previously had a couple good experiences with Piper, however, today their technician tracked mud and dog poop up and down a flight of stairs as he was winterizing the sprinkler system. Unfortunately it was not until he left that I noticed the problem. The main issue I have is he went up and down these stairs four times and didn't bother to say anything. Obviously he had to of noticed he tracked this in, and when he was leaving he was in a huge rush to leave and told me to call the office for payment and he didn't have time to deal with it. It's obvious why he was in a such a huge hurry to leave the house now. His actions were totally unacceptable and I've still yet to hear back from their office for an apology or even anyone who would acknowledge the situation. read more

Piper Sprinkler saved us. I was a slacker this year and waited until the first crazy cold stretch of the season came in to get our sprinkler system winterized. I called 5 sprinkler companies on a Monday, and Piper was the only one to get back to me, which they did within an hour. They got us set up for Tuesday morning, and Alex came out on time and hooked us up. We will definitely be using Piper from now on, and will have them set us up in the spring. Last summer we talked with several companies about installing an irrigation system in our yard. Piper was recommended by a friend and it turned out we felt most comfortable with their price and reputation. They started soon after we made a commitment, and were very pleased with the results. They worked very hard, got it done on time, and came up with creative solutions for our yard. I had considered trying to do it myself, but after looking at their hard work and expertise, I'm very glad I went with them instead. I have been using Piper Sprinkler for at least the last 10 years. I have a sprinkler system that was put in when the house was built back in 1976 and thru the years I have had called them to replace numerous heads that have gone bad as well as zone valves that went bad. I had to call them this year as the turn on to my system broke (it is 6 feet under ground). Due to the rains last week they had to postpone but they arrived yesterday promptly at 8:00 am as promised and were still working when I arrived home at 4:00 pm. The owner, Jerry, was there with one other helper. My system is now fixed and I dont have to worry about losing all of my nice green grass now. so whether it is a small job or a large job that requires a backhoe I strongly suggest you call Piper Sprinkler if you want the job done right ! read more

She could have had my business but advised me to stay with my current company at a loss to her because it is in my best interest. Our entire family has used Piper for almost twenty years for three different homes and sadly their customer service has fallen off a cliff while prices continue to climb. They replaced a leaking manifold last summer and come to find out when the system was turned on this new manifold was leaking again. When I called I was told "well it has been a year so you're out of warranty". Well of course it has been a year, you told me it was fixed and I didn't check it until the next season. They finally agreed to come out but would have to charge me $95 unless they determined it was "their problem" or the manifold could not be "tightened up". Even after sending photo and video they were adamant that they were going to get $95 for a trip charge. It is very sad they won't stand behind their work but that seems to be the nature of many less than reputable businesses these days. It is no surprise their business appears to be shrinking, probably due to poor customer service such as this. You just lost three customer homes Piper, too bad. read more

I regret to say I had a frustrating and difficult experience with Piper Sprinkler Company. The sales rep, Tony, acts very agreeable, but then doesn't follow through on his promises (i.e. he didn't relocate a spinkler line away from a planting bed next to the front porch as he said he would). The crew does an inadequate job of preparing the ground (after they laid the sod I found ten-foot-long sections of metal garden edging and sheets of weed barrier fabric left undisturbed where I was assured they used a rototiller). The crew also neglected to put sod down on one small corner of my side yard, and didn't set the sprinkler to reach that part of the lawn. And when I brought these issues to the attention of the owner, Jerry Piper, he responded by telling me my complaints were petty. He wanted to get his final payment, and he told me he had spent time in jail, and wouldn't want to go back for murder if I didn't pay him. Does he really think that kind of stuff works outside of New Jersey?! My advice - avoid doing business with this company. They'll talk about how much training and experience they have, but when it comes to following through, forget it! If you do hire them, be very clear about what you need (i.e. define what preparing the soil actually means), and hold back your final payment for a few months until you know the system works and your lawn is growing. read more

I used Piper Sprinkler for the first time today to turn my sprinklers back on after having them blown out. I was given a 2 1/2 hour window for arrival of the "technician". I waited around the entire time for nothing, no one arrived within the given time frame. I had to call the company to inquire when someone would actually come. Only then did he appear. When he finally arrived, he struggled with the key, couldn't locate the control boxes he walked right over, etc... Not very confidence instilling. Luckily there were no issues with the sprinklers. The process of simply turning them back on took longer than I was told it would and the entire experience was less than impressive and very expensive! The fact that no consideration was shown for the time I waited around is disappointing and shows me they don't value anyone else's time. I wouldn't recommend them. :( read more

I couldn't give a higher recommendation. Pricing was very competitive and the quality was fantastic. They are a family business so being a little flexible on timing was extremely helpful to them and I think it helped me get exactly what I wanted out of the install. They came once to do a walk through and gave me a bid on site. I had them install the following spring and they honored all of their pricing which was much appreciated. I had Piper Sprinkler install a sprinkler system in my yard. There was not a system in previously, and I had them install it before I laid the sod. Jerry himself came out to give me a bid. I had called a couple of other companies to get bids, and Piper Sprinkler was the quickest to get out and let me know how much it cost. I had the system installed early September, and was on a time crunch as I wanted to get the sod laid ASAP so it would have time to take. Jerry said he could get the job done before I was going to get my sod delivered, and he delivered on that promise! The sprinkler system has been working great and my grass is growing very well! I had a small issue with the system after it was installed, and Jerry came out quickly and resolved it. Overall, I would recommend their prompt and personal service for anyone looking to have a sprinkler system installed. read more

My sprinklers were installed by this company prior to my purchase of my house. I called to have them winterize the sprinklers and to my dismay, after leaving work early, the technician never showed. I then had to take off work early again to have another tech come by and I was not given a discount. I again attempted to use their services and when I called to confirm the appointment, the company did not have the appointment scheduled at all. In addition, the company did not have my information correctly entered in their computer system. I was eager to make another appointment knowing the cold weather was coming, and tried to squeeze it in with another appointment I had for the day. I relayed that I was going to be at another appointment but was not alerted that if I wouldn't make it, there would be a fee. Unfortunately, the tech showed up early and did not call prior to his arrival, as requested. I was not able to get out of the other appointment in time and I was charged a $65 fee. This disappoints me greatly. I take full responsibility, however, customers should be alerted to all fee guidelines. I will no longer be using their services. read more
