The gorgeous Pirates bay and Tasmanian coast was our group's next stop where the mood set by gorgeous vista was temporarily dampened as we learnt of "the dog line" that once provided the last line of defense to any convict wishing to leave the dramatic peninsula at eaglehawk neck of their own accord. The unique nomenclature of Doo town however lifted our spirits as did the dramatic features of Devils kitchen and the Tasman arch. read more
Pirates Bay This expansive beach has pristine sands and stunning ocean views. The bay's unspoiled beauty is perfect for a peaceful walk or simply soaking in the scenery and sunshine. A bit chilly and windy but worth it. The water reflects the most vibrant shades of blue. Eaglehawk Neck The narrow isthmus that connects the Tasman Peninsula to the mainland is steeped in history. This is where the convicts tried to escape Port Arthur. To counteract escapees, malicious dogs were placed across Eaglehawk Neck. read more
