When traveling eat where the locals eat and you won't be disappointed. Piri Piri is a local haunt tucked away in the back streets of Quarteria--take a taxi because you won't find it easily on your own. The brothers that run the place are all about serving up good food and lots of it--portion sizes are huge! Most entrees can be split between two people. Entrees include salad, soup and bread with olives. It was refreshing for us to eat away from the touristy areas where you are charged extra for simple things like bread. The soup served with our meal was a tasty pumpkin soup with greens, the salad is your basic lettuce salad with onion. My order of Mahi Mahi was expertly grilled and was extremely fresh. My dining companions ordered the mixed grill which was enormous, 3 kinds of meats. All the food we ordered including two pitchers of sangria came to a measly 35 Euro! You cannot beat the value. Service was brusque as it is a small location and people line up waiting for a table. Unfortunately we only made it there once but would definitely return on our next visit. read more
