During that 20 minutes, not one of the staff asked how I was doing or if I needed assistance. As soon as my husband stepped in, all of the staff perked up and asked how they could help him. I couldnt believe it. Not impressed at all.

We went there with our 21-month old son, so it wasn't like we could go unnoticed. Once we walked in the door, we saw 2 employees at the counter, another 1 at another desk, and at least another 3-4 walking around the store attending to whatever business they were attending to. NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM even acknowledged our existence. No "Hello", "Good afternoon", not even a smile. My husband actually had to say "Hello" to THEM, and he barely got a nod back. We looked at their bathroom vanity lights for a solid 20 minutes, and not a single person approached us to ask if we needed help. They didn't have the best selection either. Just 1 back wall of lights, around $200-400 range. Oh, the staff was too busy talking amongst themselves about what happened on last night's episode of Master Chef to bother with us. We walked out without getting a "Have a good day" or "Thank you" and vowed never to return. There are plenty of other lighting stores in Vancouver. Go somewhere where they actually acknowledge you and treat you as a potential customer.

[Now ending this attempt to weave in Back to Future references to share what I saw in the filled to the gills space that is a Dunbar's treasure trove.] From floor to ceiling you'll go near dizzy taking in the eclectic compilation of furniture pieces, lighting fixtures, and salvaged treasures recycled or upcycled from a wealth of eras. Fruit boxes, axles, typewriters, cash machines, radios, armoires, coffee tables and light fixtures piled high are just a few of the sparkly items that caught my eye. Staff is helpful and seem passionate about restoring lighting and furniture -- both their own projects and anything you bring them. If you have something you'd like to consign, email them images and they might just take you up on it!

When you deal with one place that has a chain of stores you would think that product, let alone…read moreservice would be consistent around the board. While planning my washroom renovation, this was one of the stops, to see what the better stuff looks like. You can go to your Rona's and Home Depot's all you want for building supplies, but when it comes to faucet's, tubs, shower bases, shower systems, these guys carry a higher end range of product from Grohe to Riobel to Kohler you'll find some good stuff here. The place has a huge showroom, and when I was in here, walking in, amazingly enough it did not feel like a greenhouse, as you do see a ton of lights being displayed. This maybe the prettiest Robinson Lighting showroom I have seen, yet they lack service, most people I find behind a computer behind a counter. And compared to another review of mine at another location, I did not get this here, not even a smidgen close to the attention and service I received at another store. I wasn't even quoted, or given the option of a shower base I was looking for (60 x 30) and said it would take a few weeks? OK are you guys franchised here, cause I just did this transaction a few hours before entering this store. So I was quite confused with the whole matter, at the same time this store, as said, is nicely located, has great selection, and doesn't carry the cheap substitutes you might see in places like going along Bridgeport in Richmond where there are a ton of light stores. If you take pride in where you live, willing to spend more, and not wanting it to look like a cheap addition/renovation where your renting it out, or flipping it on the market, your probably coming here to get something, the only downside is the service, other than that it's not a bad store.

How do I know it was Robinson that sold my info on? Well, since it's the only store that I gave out my number to in the last six months, I started receiving these multiple scam calls on the VERY DAY that I bought the items from their store. Shameful.

That's what we (myself, partner, sister and brother in law) have been doing the past 9 months building a brand new home. We had no idea what we didn't know - especially when it came to lighting fixtures both inside and outside. We had gone to a few stores in Surrey which had very little service and a slim selection. Then we found S&N. We met with one of their sales reps Kulvinder who started by suggesting a site consult to get to know our space, learn our design preferences, and to help us with a proper count of what we needed. Who knew lights come in different colours haha. He was so helpful and patient (dealing with 4 emotionally charged people) and gave us suggestions for what would actually fit and look good in our space. There was so much education around things to consider when making choices like LED or bulb, aesthetic and measurement for the walls etc. We ended up purchasing all of our lighting at S&N, and even found some beautiful legrand switches and plugs to really modernize our home. Any inspiration photos I found on pinterest or instagram Kulvinder found me the same or similar through their suppliers. They truly sell and work with integrity at S&N, not once did I feel like they were trying to upsell me, and they really had our best interest in mind. We asked a million and one questions and at all hours all days. We had last minute requests and purchases that we had to make because that's the joy of construction and Kulvinder always accommodated us. I am beyond grateful for this experience and would recommend S&N in a heartbeat. Do yourself a favour and go see Kulvinder for a one-stop shop experience.
