I'm an American, there's always a work-around but after I hear about this stupid rule we show up and there are signs all over warning swimmers of the evils of "Bermudas". I roll my eyes and not so quietly curse the French. So first I confirm that neither my wife nor my sister-in-law have a camera then I swallow my pride and wriggle into a borrowed set of Man panties. Once you're in the pool it's pretty cool, especially for kids. It's got one area where jets push you through a curvy path a little like you're the log on a log ride. Another area is set up kind of like a huge jacuzzi with seats and individual waterfalls falling on your shoulders. One feature I'd never seen before was a shallow, tiled area with a contoured section to fit your butt. You sit down, your feet dangle into the deeper end of the pool and it's tilted so that when you lay down your chest is nearly covered in water but your head is high enough that it's comfortably outside the water. Pretty cool. My main complaint, besides all the inappropriate swimwear, was that the water was just a few degrees too cold. It was nice but a couple degrees hotter would have been sooo much nicer. I would have included a few photos of the pool put as soon as I pulled out the camera an attendant hustled up and said, "It is not permitted." Well hang on there Pierre, I can't take a photo ....of a pool ....where everyone's got their clothes on but anyone can wander over to the restrooms and stand outside the floor to ceiling glass doors and watch guys pee?? Is that how this works?? 'Fraid so. We change and get ready to go and I make an astounding discovery. In the corner, before you get to the changing area is a vending machine that sells ........yep........Man panties. Just in case you forgot yours! A creative solution to a problem that didn't exist.

Awesome. In theory. And don´t get me wrong, it´s all there. A great lawn for sunbathing and a 50 meter pool that is in decent shape despite it´s age. There are also some other basins, diving boards and a volleyball field. And to finish this - the staff were even reasonably friendly. On the negatives side of things there is the Building that houses the changing cabins, the wardrobe check, the showers and a little Bistro. Awful. Truly awful. Smelly, old, unwelcoming, dirty and not up to modern standards at all. So if you want to enjoy the great pool, the nice lawn and all that - you first have to pass through this little house of horrors to get there (and if you want to leave again too, of course). Would I recommend Piscine de la Grenouillere? If you can change into and out of your swim-gear in your car - yes. Practical info: bathing caps aren't mandatory but surfer-short type swimwear is forbidden. No Lockers but a wardrobe check.

You have 2 basins of 25 Meters length, one with 8 Lanes without shallow end (that´s the one for swimmers) and the second one is a bit smaller (4 Lanes) and shallow at one end. A third basin is (mainly) for children with water-fountains, massage-jets and that sort of stuff. There is also a hammam and a sauna that I did not use. There is a nice patch of grass outside to lie down and soak in some sun, sadly the few trees that are planted there will take another decade or so to provide shade if you´d rather not be burned to a crisp on a sunny day. Negatives? In the shower-area are there were some broken showers and moldy-looking ceiling tiles. Cleanliness also could have been better (see pictures). Of the 4 blow-dryers that were mounted in a height that I can use, only 1 worked. The 6€25 Entrance fee is a bit too high for my taste considering what is offered but residents get a discount. Practical stuff: Lockers work with code, bathing caps are mandatory. Mens swimwear has to be tight fitting. Showers are separated for men and women - but quite a lot of people seem to ignore that @Piscine de Clamart. The signs pointing that out are maybe not making clear enough who is supposed to go where. But there are a couple of closed shower-cabins for those who like their privacy. Overall Piscine de Clamart is a modern, friendly & versatile pool for those who like to swim or other water related activities. It´s not perfect, but then what is?

They have 3 basins, a 25x15 Meters swimmers basin without shallow end and two multipurpose basins for activities and children. Strangely both basins seem to do the same thing, one is just newer than the other and was added recently - my guess is that this reflects as how many of the pools visitors are families with children. They also have a nice area outside that you can use on warmer days. Showers are mixed (though there are two sets of showers), bathing caps are mandatory and surfer-short-type swimwear is forbidden. Lockers work with code. The people working there were all really nice and friendly and it was impeccably clean at Piscine des Blagis despite me being there on a busy weekend. Negatives? I am not a fan of these type of pools where the basin-walls are covered in this sort of concrete layer with a rough surface, I can do without the free pedicure this gives me. The Entrance fee of 5€70 is quite elevated and does not really reflect what is offered.
