Rating it three solely because of rude staff! But I'll wait till the end for the negatives. I've come here a couple times with friends and I just love the ambiance of the place. Chill vibes with nice decor! Their Happy Hour deals are amazing especially for food. I'm a huge foodie and A tex-mex enthusiast so ofcourse I would never say no to $6 chicken quesadillas or loaded nachos. The portions are so big that they are basically entrees for me! My friends got the $4 margs. The frozen mango marg was apparently too sweet and so was the house marg. But you can't really beat the $4 happy hour price. The tacos were underwhelming both times we got it BUT on TUesdays they are $1 so like can't really complain! Anyways, everything is fine besides the fact that most waiters here are sarcastic and rude! Our waitress was super nice the second time, but the first time I went, the waitress was slow despite it not being that crowded, looked like she wanted us gone and had a generally dismissive demeanor. The second time around, we asked a waiter passing by for a menu and he walked away saying "this is not my table." Like ok can you get us our waitress or atleast offer? I only put 1 star for the margaritas. I can say they are strong and seem to be good. HOWEVER, this was my 2nd time here in maybe 6 years. My sister and I were looking for a place to eat and have a drink . My sister who has been here on numerous occasions made a comment that she didn't really like it because she always has a bad experience due to cleanliness. For instance, once a bartender took a sip out of her friends drink AFTER he gave it to him. And on another occasion she found bugs in her food. But since we were hungry and didn't really have an appetite for anything else, we reluctantly went here. We sat down outside and it took about 10 minutes for us to be greeted and to order. We weren't sure what food we wanted so we both ordered a margarita to start. About 5 minutes later our waitress brought us out waters. As me and my sister were speaking she made a strange face at her water and pulled out a big piece of plastic!!! It was disgusting. We called our waitress back over and I showed her what was pulled out of the water. She was confused also. She then asked if we would be ordering which we replied probably not. She took the water inside and came back with our margaritas ( I ordered a frozen but was given on the Rocks. No big deal we weren't staying anyways). She let us know she told her manager and his response was "that doesn't look like something that came from here" EXCUSE ME????? If we wanted to get something free we wouldn't put anything in FREE WATER. Me and my sister were in shock. Not to mention we sat there for about 20 minutes to finish our drinks and the manager never came out to speak with us or correct the situation! Again we didn't want anything free... but any establishment I've been too or worked at, the manager will always come out to make sure the customer is satisfied. This is my first visit to this establishment for taco Tuesday. The drinks were cool and tacos were mediocre. We came with a party of 11 but they made our party sit at two separate tables with a huge space in between so we were not able to have any conversation with the rest of our party. When we moved the table over so it could connect the waitstaff insisted that we could not move the table a close to one another even though it was the same server waiting on both tables. The experience provided here is lack luster; our family came out to celebrate together but we're not accommodated in any way by the staff. Mediocre food and drinks I can deal with but not letting our family of 11 sit together was a deal breaker for us. read more

This was probably the best Bloody Mary I've had in Houston. Great flavor, good ratio of booze to mixers, and the toppings were amazing. It comes with topped with grilled shrimp, a stuffed jalapeño, three olives and a taco of your choosing. Breakfast and hair of the dog all in one sitting. I'll see y'all on Monday. Decided to try their Taco Tuesday specials for an early dinner. There wasn't as much seating inside as there was outside. Since we wanted a booth in the inside, there was about a 20 minute wait. There was no wait to be seated outside. Their specials on Tuesday are $1 tacos for any taco and they have $5 margaritas. They're pretty decent sized tacos... bigger than street tacos. I ordered every taco except for the veggie and portobello. My favorites were the Al Pastor, shrimp, and beer battered fish tacos. They were delicious! I would not recommend getting the chicken or beef fajitas tacos. They weren't even good for $1. They were pretty basic and didn't have good flavor like the other tacos. They're corn tortillas are also pretty thick, but they're delicious as well. They have free valet parking but there's also free parking on the side streets if you didn't want the hassle of valet. Let me start by saying that the girl seated next to us was literally sniffing cocaine out her purse. This is not an exaggeration, but surprisingly not the reason I'm giving them 1 star, the food and service (aside from the sweet hostess) were terrible! We ordered lots of street tacos since we came for Taco Tuesday and they ranged from $1 (chicken) to $1.50 (shrimp taco). They took so long to even give us water so as you can imagine the food took a long time as well. We also ordered the mango margarita which was literally looked like they poured some mango syrup in a cup of water and didn't even bother to mix it properly so not worth the price. The tacos were terrible, so bland except for the shrimp so we had to ask for hot sauce several times to several different waiters who ranged in attitude problems. Had a nice experience. I came right after work with a few friends for Happy Hour. I couldn't make my mind up so I got 6 tacos lol, they're only on $1 on Tuesdays so oh well. My favs were the battered fish taco and barbacoa. Surprisingly I did not like the fajita steak and fajita chicken, they were bland and not as exciting as the other selections. If I had to pay the normal price, about $3.50 per taco, I would feel like it was over priced, even for the ones I liked, as they are pretty small. I had the house margarita, it was on happy hour special for $4. I got the skinny version as I didn't not like the mix in the original. It was too sour for me. The wait wasn't bad at all. We waited about 20 minutes, but it did get really packed about 6pm, so plan ahead. They had outdoor in addition to the indoor seating. They restaurant was very clean. They had valet but I parked on the street. The service was great, the hostess and waitress were very attentive. read more

Beautiful and fun atmosphere, not the best food. I've been to Pistolero's twice now and both times their service was great but the food was lackluster and pricey (over $4 per taco). The first time I came out to this location has probably been about 2 months and I came with a friend. The waiter that helped us was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the taco plate that came with 2 tacos and rice and beans. The tacos were ok, but the beans and rice were better. The second time I came was with my cousin on a Monday day night. I was very happy to get there as they are one of very few locations with a kitchen open till 11 PM on a Monday. (I normally never wait till the last minute like that to eat but I had gotten out of work very late) same story as the last time. The service was great and our waitress was VERY attentive so I appreciate that. Our table however felt like it was right under a vent blasting sub zero temperatures. We split a 1/2 pound of fajitas that came with rice and beans and got an order of chips and salsa. The best part was the beans and rice, again. I really really want to love this place because the ambiance is so fun, the outdoor seating is really nice, and service was great. I just can't justify overpriced tacos/fajitas when there's not much flavor. Also, you have to valet your car (at no cost but tip) for the tiniest parking spot I've ever seen. We were there past the time that the valet guys were working and when I got to my car I could barely open the door to get in. It wasn't a total wash, I'll definitely try it again. Do you like tacos and a good time? This bar draws a mixed crowd every day of the week. Think rock and roll with a side of hot girls and people from the neighbor hood. Every night has a different special (burgers, nachos, taco Tuesday etc.). Parking kinda sucks so Uber. Also all the bartenders here have beards and I dig it. Came in here with a big group after an afternoon of drinking at Anvil just a little down the street. I had wanted to come back to Pistolero's after visiting it once because I remember trying the chips and queso and thinking how delicious it was. Once we all sat down, I of course asked for the chips and queso and let me tell you, it was as good as I remembered it. The chips that come with your queso are not your typical thin restaurant-style chips, but a thicker, more delicious version. The bad thin about that is, they don't give you nearly as much chips as they would with the thinner (and I'm assuming cheaper) chips. Sharing the queso with around eight people at the table means that you would have to get a second order because it was that good. We ordered mixed fajitas and I thought it was pretty good. Well, at least for the beef and the chicken fajitas. I personally wasn't a big fan of the shrimp fajitas. But thinking back, I remember thinking that they should have put more grilled onions on the skillet because there was barely any (and we had two orders of fajitas to share!). Our server was pretty good. She wasn't the most attentive, but she was attentive enough for our big group that we had everything we needed. It's just that at times, we had to look for her to ask for something while she was just nowhere to be seen. I haven't tried their Taco Tuesday so I can't comment on that but that seems like a popular thing here. Maybe I'll come back for that. However, I'm definitely going to be coming back for the chips and queso. Especially after drinking at Anvil. read more

My friends and I went to Pistolero's after work. They have an amazing happy hour special from 4pm-8pm. The regular margaritas are $4 and flavored margaritas are $5. I had a mango margarita on the rocks and it was really good! My friends enjoyed their drinks as well. The food, however, is not good. I got a taco bowl. A lot of food came on the plate but the meat was dry and the dish lacked flavor. I would recommend coming here for drinks only. read more

I got the Thursday $6 burger bucket special: Huge portion of fries so that was awesome. I was very disappointed with my burger however. Flavor was good but the burger patty was tiny like a fast food burger patty. The bun was DELICIOUS though, and honestly the best part of the burger. Chatted to perfection. I've been here a couple times and while the drinks are always great, the food quality is mediocre and inconsistent. This place gets crazy packed during their Margarita Mondays ($3/marg) and Taco Tuesdays ($1/taco). I've been both those days and their food has always been average. However the last time I went, the food was horrible. No one at my table could finish our meals and that rarely happens. All of our tortillas for the tacos were dried out , hard, and cold. We got the chicken fajita, beef fajita, and the beer battered fish tacos. The meat and fish were all so flavorless and dry. We also ordered: -Queso and chips: Were not great as the chips were way to greasy -Elote: The only thing we ordered that we liked Parking is always a pain coming here so be prepared to spend some time looking for street parking or just doing valet. Setting: The venue has a very trendy and hip vibe. The music is pretty loud inside and the DJ always plays good songs. Pistoleros is a happy hour go to for me! Their nachos are absolute heaven! Nachos & one of their margaritas & you are good to go! However the valet situation has always rubbed me the wrong way & sort of tainted my experience the last few times. The valet guy has been rude on at LEAST 3 different occasions. Questioning the amount of money that is tipped, telling my friend she had to pay a fee since she walked next door( I understand it's not cool to leave, but I'm curious if that's an actual requirement by Pistolero's or if that's his personal rule) he comes across as unprofessional & always has rude remarks to follow his behavior. Definitely makes me not as eager to go back. read more

My absolute favorite Happy Hour spot in Houston! The service is fast, and the servers are nice. They have such good deals. Their Happy Hour is everyday from 4-8pm, and they have $4 margs (and other alcohol options) and $6 apps, which is such a good deal, and very much worth it. I really enjoy all their apps, and I especially love their tamales, chicken quesadillas, and nachos. Their chips and queso is not a part of their Happy Hour, but it's so good, and I definitely recommend it. Their queso has a good consistency- not too watery. Very tasty. THEIR MARGS ARE SO GOOD. I like frozen margs with sugar on the rim, and theirs is perfect. They have other flavors like mango, strawberry, and peach (which are included in their Happy Hour), and all those flavors are delicious!! Lastly, $1 TACO TUESDAY!!!! Wow, you can get so many tacos so so cheap, and if you go during their Happy Hour- everything is cheaper. Fair warning: it gets extremely crowded very fast on Tuesdays so go early if you can! Well I'm confused- I guess customers eating and drinking in a comfortable atmosphere is not thought about here! You spent time on recipes, service and decor to say screw the customers in the end by keeping it freezing. I head two black customers say it was cold- nothing happened- then I said it was fucking freezing and they did turn off ac until three blk men walk in and the AC went on full blast. They even said it was cold but bartender did nothing. So I many more questions here! If you want people to sit and enjoy then you all need to be aware of the damn temperature! There are many places in need of money during this time. So turn off the damn AC so that overall climate is actually making customers want to stay. read more

Visited cinco de Mayo so the wait was a given. Was able to visit the bar while waiting which was good. The margaritas weren't very strong. My friend and I had two and weren't impressed. We ended up needing a shot just to feel anything. The queso was pretty good but that was it. The fajitas were bland. Flautas and tacos were just ok as well. Left feeling very blah about this place. I ordered the cauliflower and portobello tacos, several margaritas, and tequila shots! The waitress gave suggestions on a good brand of tequila to try and it was nice and smooth. The bar is nice and the bartenders will make sure to keep you on a nice vibe. Even though the food isn't the best, I love to ball out in $1 tacos for taco Tuesday, while enjoying my $4 margaritas. A cool spot for checking out games, catching up with friends, getting a cheap meal on a special night, or just getting out of the house. These people are sure to take care of you and you'll always leave with a smile. Don't take my word for it though, go and check out this Westheimer/Montrose area bar that's sure to help you make a great impression on almost anyone you bring. I hate tacos, said no Juan ever. I found about this place through Yelp while looking for new Happy Hour places. I am glad I did because this is a Taco Tuesday destination too! Parking is only complimentary valet, but I believe you can try street parking across. The valet lot is pretty small too. This place can get packed depending on your arrival time. One time, my friend and I found spots at the bar after ten minutes of awkwardly standing near the door. On my recent visit, Pistolero's was half packed inside. There is also seating outdoors but never been out there for my times here. Happy Hour Monday to Friday 4 PM - 8 PM; Saturday and Sunday 12 PM - 8 PM $3 Margaritas, $4 Sangrias, $1 off Draft Beer, and $5 Various Appetizers Daily Specials from Open to Close Monday: $1.50 Margaritas Tuesday: $1 Tacos Wednesday: $5 Nachos with $12 Pitcher Margaritas Thursday: $5 Green Chili Burger with $3 Cazadores and $2 Tecate Saturday and Sunday: Happy Hour all day with $4 Micheladas FOOD: Beer Battered Fish (4/5): The best taco I have tried so far! Make sure you get the bigger sized fish or at least try to. One of my friends got an order of this taco, and the fish was pinky sized. Fish was hot but delicious to eat. The waiter even informed this taco is one of the more popular ones. Roast Pork (2/5): I've experienced better. It was dry, and I wasn't blown away by this. If you are craving a pork taco, then choose the Al Pastor. Avocado added the touch to this though. I highly recommend eating this taco (or all the tacos actually) with the spicy avocado like sauce if you pay extra 25 cents -- it is spicy. (Not talking about the red and green sauces) Al Pastor (3/5): I will order these every time I am craving tacos, especially at those hole in the wall Mexican taco restaurants. The Al Pastor taco here is okay. It comes with pieces of pineapples, which adds a nice sweet edge. I was kind of disappointed at the amount of cilantro and onions served - pretty scant. Beef Barbacoa (2/5): I didn't like the barbacoa meat here much. Seemed more dry than other barbacoa tacos I have tried and lacked flavor. I liked the fact that this taco comes with more onion and cilantro though than the Al Pastor! Mexican taco! Grilled Portabella Tacos (4/5): I am pretty glad I tried this. The bartender recommended this the first time I was here. The jalapeno jam makes this taco, and all the ingredients work! I would definitely recommend this to vegetarians. Nachos (3/5): These are stuffed and layered with cheese. This is a pretty popular bar food and Happy Hour option. Great size for $5 though! Elote (2/5): Corn, itself, was fresh and tasty. Otherwise, I didn't care for more. I like my elote spicy with chili powder, lime, butter and mayo. This elote was just layered with mayo and mild butter without other flavors. Would I come back? Yes! The chips and queso were the BOMB! I was equally impressed with the margaritas for only $4 during happy hour that last until 8pm. We had the Fajitas for two that included rice, charro beans, sour cream, guacamole, shredded cheese, pico and tortillas for only $14. But at $1 each on Taco Tuesday with a $3.50 fro marg is worth a trip! Each taco is a carefully-crafted creation of daring yet well-balanced combinations. My favorites tacos are: - beer-battered fish - grilled fish with capers - oxtail with smoked tomato jam - beef cheek The chicken one tends to be dry, and I'm not a fan of cilantro so didn't like the pork ones. A tip: their corn tortilla isn't as corn-y as normal corn tortillas so feel free to feel healthy and order it over flour :) Each taco comes with two tortillas and I feel that that's a waste (of tortilla and tummy space both), so I ask to have them put on just one tortilla each.
