This place surprised me. Two friends told me I should try it so I did with my wife last week. I'd always thought it was a place where you walked in and ordered from menu items on the wall like a Poke place or Filibertos. No way. You get greeted, seated and waited on by friendly staff that hands you a menu with endless choices (pictured below). The restaurant is clean, has an eclectic style, some art on the walls for sale and seating is spaced well. The waitress was helpful with menu questions, was courteous and timely. I had a Philly staek pita and the wife had a Shawarma wrap. Mine was very good and she said hers was as well. The ingredients seemed fresh and seasoned perfectly on both. The gluten free brownie-ice cream sandwich dessert was meh, but so what really. We came for the entre. This is a find that I will pass on to other friends and will dine at again for sure. Never been here before, my sister brought me. Was really good food, everything was fresh and tasty. I asked the waitress what she recommended and and if the tikka masala was good. My favorite was the tropical iced tea & the falafel. I ordered a falafel pita bowl, but I wasn't too crazy about the tahini sauce. It had a peanut butter taste. I was able to order some tzatziki sauce to dress up my bowl so it had a little more flavor & wasn't too dry. Cabbage and onions are raw, fyi. The bowl has cabbage-kale mixed greens, but it was mostly cabbage & very little greens. My sister ordered the lemon chicken soup, really good flavor, she added a little more lemon to it. NEW VEGAN MENU!!!! (But you have to ask for it) Wow I guess it had been awhile since I have been to pita jungle. We live about 25 minutes away but it was well worth the drive. Their vegan menu is one of the most comprehensive vegan menus in the valley. So many delicious offerings. We ordered the caramelized cauliflower tahini appetizer, antipasto appetizer platter, marinated tofu salad, and a side of quinoa. Everything was delicious, fresh, and ample portions. The tofu on the salad was THE BEST tofu I have ever eaten. Hands down. Order anything with that marinated tofu and I promise you will be in heaven. The service was friendly. We were a little bummed that the dolmades did not come on the antipasto appetizer plate, then when we asked about it the server said they were out of them. Mediterranean Roasted Chicken Shawarma....description says mixed greens, nope, only the cabbage kale (which was good)....no tomatoes or pickles or pita either. Feel like I only got half what I should have. It tasted ok, but nothing to write home about. Ordered a side of garlic mushrooms. Photo on menu shows whole mushrooms and show them a pleasant brown color....mine were minced and black (see attached photo). I order mushrooms almost everywhere I go....these however were really unpleasant tasting. And not really like garlic. Bitter and off tasting, threw them out, waste of $5. I haven't been to Pita Jungle in FOREVER and while sitting at home trying to decide between pizza and wings and being a healthier person I came across the Pita Jungle menu and my tastebuds started tingling. I ordered the Ahi seared tuna with garlic hummus and actually did a happy dance while eating it. Ahi Tuna is sometimes risky to get as it can be easily overcooked and not have enough flavor. This dish was a beautiful blend of flavor and the garlic hummus complemented the dish entirely. I also wanted to try the roasted cauliflower which I think I would have enjoyed without the onions. I've never really eaten caramelized onions and now I know they aren't my favorite. Although even with this additional revelation I enjoyed the dish and the spices were spot on. Pita Jungle is a sit down restaurant with table service. The service was great, our server was attentive and answered all of our questions. We got a table around 2:45p but were interested in the happy hour specials that started at 3p. She let us hold off on ordering until we could get the discount - which was nice! The food here is already reasonably priced, but the happy hour feels like a thievery. Drinks are super cheap ($9 carafe of sangria!! What the!) and snacks are well priced. Pita Jungle... more like Pickle Jungle, amirite? The pickle hummus was the seasonal hummus (avocado was out but I would have loved to try) and it was great. Not too sour but cute and delightful. Pitas were fine, a little thin, nothing to write to home about. The falafel had pickles in it as well, which gave it a unique flavor, but it wasn't anything special. Okay, the new potatoes were the most disappointing part of the trip. They may have been brined in saltwater... they had a distinct, pool watery taste that broke through the ketchup. I would skip and go with hummus. I'm giving three stars because I probably won't be back. There wasn't anything memorable about this place. We came here for a family dinner and had a lovely experience! Our hostess and server were both very friendly, and service was very quick. They have several healthy vegan options, and much of the menu can be modified to be made vegan by substituting tofu for meat. I ordered the spicy chicken bowl with tofu instead of chicken, which was DELICIOUS. The portion sizes are generous but not excessive, and prices are reasonable as well.
