Four stars only because it is not a challenging course, not because of the experience…read more Gino's mini-golf always brings back memories of my glory days when I used to bring the occasional date here 20 - okay maybe 30 - years ago. This was the only mini-golf course for miles around and that fact has not changed much in the intervening time. In between dates, I came here to use the driving range when I still had visions of being the next Jack Nicklaus. The dates worked out as well as my Jack Nicklaus dream did, but I met a wonderful woman in college and we have been blessed with 3 wonderful children. As they were growing up, Gino's offered a quick, easy, and cheap way to get some entertainment outside. The course is very straightforward with few difficult obstacles or can be played pretty quickly - the perfect course for little kids. With an ice cream and pizza shop next door, it was a great outing. The kids have gotten older, but our family love of mini-golf has not diminished. We have searched far and wide for more and more challenging courses, but it has been a while since we came back to our old standby - Gino's. Last night, we decided to take advantage of the awesome spring weather and grab a round after dinner. The course is still on the easy side and Gino is still sitting inside the shack taking the money, but I am happy to report that the course is in great shape. New turf on the holes, no weeds in the landscape beds, no stones on the course - it was a nice round. You don't go to Gino's for a challenge or for amazing obstacles, but if you want to get out for a quick round and some family fun (or a cool date) that does not include electronics, then Gino's is the place to go. Oh - and the pizza/ice cream shop is still there too!

***DRIVING RANGE REVIEW ONLY***…read more That said....the driving range was pretty trash. First, the place is cash only, which isn't a deal breaker, but in this day and age, is more than a little annoying. Secondly, everything is a little run down. You CAN borrow a driver, but you better like Goodwill level clubs. (I brought my own.) The little driver corrals/pens/whatever were almost ALL missing tees, and when I finally found one laying around, it was so low that teeing up was barely higher than just putting it on the mat. The balls were an absolute disgrace. (See picture.) I've never even HEARD of "Valken" brand balls, and they were positively beat to shit. Cuts, worn out dimples, dirty...the whole 9. They felt like they were made out of concrete. Your DRIVER is sending these things maybe 150. The only real positive is that they weren't that expensive. A small bucket was $7 and a large is $12. I was there just to blow off some steam, which was good, because it would've been a wasted range session trying to work on my swing with that setup and THOSE BALLS. The mini golf and batting cage looked BETTER, but both still looked old, and old-school, so I don't think I'll be back to try either of those any time soon. MAYBE a cheap date night or something, if we don't have to time to drive too far for something a little more polished or modern.

Our 4 some finished in 4 hours and 3 minutes exactly and somehow had to the ranger tell us we were playing to slow around hole 13-14. There was no group behind us in site and a group ahead of us on the green most of the round. We were also rushed to the first tee box about 10mins early as another group was still getting ready to tee off from warming up putting 25 feet away from the tee box. Vibes are low here I'd play elsewhere.

(The last tee time for that day). I had brought my seven year old son to tag along which he has done several times spanning multiple courses over the last 3 years. Primarily he will tee off once or twice and chip/putt occasionally throughout the round whether it is 9 or 18 holes. This time was completely different and the experience was horrific. My son was disrespected, talked down upon and severely upset by the way Matt (THE DIRECTOR OF WESTWOOD) treated my son and myself resulting in him having a meltdown and crying for several minutes. Matt (The DIRECTOR OF WESTWOOD) came to the 6th green and said "I do not know whose kid this is but I have to get this kid off the golf course." I told him that kid is my son, and what seems to be the problem. At the end of this it lead to myself and my 7 year old child getting removed from the course. The reasoning of this was an apparent liability of riding in the cart. When I suggested to Matt, that my son and I could walk the remainder of then round he immediately turned it down. When I also suggested that I would walk back to the clubhouse, Matt suggested my son and I ride with him back to the clubhouse. (THIS CLEARLY GOES AGAINST THE LIABILITY REASON HE PREVIOUSLY TOLD US). After returning to the clubhouse I spoke to a few other staff members and told them of the situation and they were shocked and appalled with what happened. Pat who is another employee of Westwood even donated a colorful bag of balls to my son and told him to enjoy the round. Matt treated my son like he was a stray dog when he was communicating to him and myself. He threatened to fire his guys and used his title to be disrespectful and demeaning. I am truly ashamed and disappointed that my son had to experience such a horrible situation as a sweet seven year old boy who loves golf. I hope he continues to love the game and is able to forget this experience when he goes to play again. I encourage anyone and everyone to read this post before returning to Westwood golf club and restaurant. I also have hope that owners of this establishment will go through a more thorough hiring when letting personnel be the true customer facing of your business.

(To be fair, they have mini golf, which was closed when I was there today, and ALLEGEDLY an indoor simulator, but when I called to inquire, they never picked up the phone and never called back.) Went there to hit a large bucket of balls today, along with every other single person in Deptford; or so it seemed. Large bucket is $13 and is about 100 balls, so the price isn't bad, even though everything else was. First, the mats are beat to shit. They are grooved, indented and just crappy. There are no tees. I even went to the shop to ask, and was told, "nah...we don't have any." So, you just have to hope to luck up and find an empty mat with a tee on it. I had to move from the upper deck to the lower, outside level to find a mat with a reasonable tee, as everything else was taken or without a tee. As bad as the mats are, the balls are 10x worse. I went to Ginos Driving Range in Mantua, and I thought THOSE balls were bad. The balls here are abysmal. Scuffed, cracked, bald; a mixture of range balls and found top flights, etc. Just terrible. (See the pics.) The range is a muddy mess with an old rusted out plane sitting on it. I guess to give duffers something to make noise at. No yard markers or anything constructive. AND, something I found weird/dangerous, is the the range kind of horseshoes, with people on the "sides" hitting off the actual grass, almost BACK INTO THE OTHER RANGE MATS. The grass crowd was basically perpendicular to the other hitters, AND to the LEFT, so a slice from them would send the balls straight at the people on the range. I didn't have that occur to me today, but a ball DID come passing behind us from the other direction. (No idea how....) There aren't many ranges in the area, and this one is maybe barely better than Ginos, balls not withstanding, but I'll still be in no rush to get back here.
