I needed to get the work done on short notice and they were very accommodating squeezing me into their schedule. I was able to stay in a local VRBO rental until they re-launched. If I could give zero stars I would. The worse place to take your boat. They are horrible. I took my yacht there and got my yacht back in pieces. They do not know what they are doing. They did not secure my boat during a storm and let the boat get damaged then wouldn't fix it. Stuff on the boat was torn apart that had nothing to do with why the boat was taken there. They tried to auction off my boat twice. They are known to do that if you do not pay what they want to charge., Dave there is a terrible man to deal with. I had new propellers and props put on my boat only to replace them again a few months later as they let me take the boat home with some electrical problem thst it did not have before so Electrolux destroyed the new equipment. They did not put on anything to prevent electrolysis on bottom of boat. read more

I dropped off my 22 foot boat on Monday for bottom paint, Yamaha engine service and we had the boat polished from the rub rails to the water line. I picked up my boat today as they were washing the boat. Everything looked awesome. They came recommended by several people I know to include our diver. Very happy with the job that was done. read more

Do not take your boat to this place! I just had an incredibly bad experience with this place and will never return or recommend them to anyone. I had them install new Bennett trim tab actuator sensors - just a new sensor kit which comes as a pair. There are a total of 4 trim tab actuators on that boat (53" Regal Sports Coupe) but they only needed to change 2 sensors out of 4 actuators. When I went to pick up my boat it was already put back into the water, so I took her back in my slip which is only about 3 miles away from Pitmans. A week later I was going to take her out to realize that the trim tabs are not working at all, so I went back home and had my mechanic check on it. He found that there was no fluid left in the reservoir, he filled up the hydraulic fluid to then realize that by pressing the trim tab button hydraulic fluid would cover the entire water surface around the stern of the boat - needles to say that they are leaking. I went back to Pitman's, they pulled out the boat and yes, they did not tighten the caps of the 2 actuators they changed the sensors on. The mechanic who did the work was the one tightening them with his hand about 5 turns each until fluid came out at the bottom. Dave said this is nothing they had touched or to do with and put the boat back into the water. It must have been coincidence that only the 2 they had changed the sensors on are now leaking. The boat had be hauled out again, I ended up buying new actuators & sensors to make them work. In their minds they did awesome! I just wonder how they manage to stay in business. read more

I had to hang up on Dave (the head mechanic) after he went on a tirade yelling at me over the phone for several minutes. They know nothing about customer service at PITMAN YACHT! I took my inboard Searay Sundancer to Pitman and they pulled the engine and replaced the oil pan. I then used the boat the first time and noticed oil and now excessive seawater in sump area. I thought that perhaps they didn't get all of the oil out and clean it properly so I added an oil sock and cleaned it out myself. I took it out a second time and noticed the same. I then went back to Pitman and talked to Dave who said he would send a mechanic out to look at my boat. They sent one out the next week and I called them back. Then Dave told me that after pulling the engine all they did was replace my oil pan and they didn't inspect or do anything else. That is mechanics 101 that you inspect and tell the customer what else is causing your oil leak not to just replace an oil pan because that "may" be the leak. Now I have an oil leak and a water leak to boot! read more

Super fast work. I dropped off my boat on a Sunday when they were closed for bottom paint and by Wednesday they were already calling saying it was done. Didn't get to see the finished product out of the water, or pics. But I picked up 4-5 knots in speed. Downside- if you want to use a credit card they will add 3% to your bill. Also, when I went to pay my bill was $300 more than quoted. I was told it was the zinks. I was a little disturbed that they didn't call because I showed them my receipts for the exact same zinks that were 80% less. One last thing that I didn't like was prior to drop off I confirmed if I could put my cover on the boat to keep it clean and dry. When we went to pick up the boat, the canvas was half off, the engine compartment was open, and there were dirty tennis shoe marks and other crud all over. It had rained a lot so the deck carpet was soaked, the engines and bilge also got a lot of rain. I had just wished they returned the boat in the condition I gave it to them. I see no reason for them to be in my engine compartment when I only took the boat for bottom paint. read more

Had boat in for maintenance and bottom job at Pitman. Picked up the boat from Pitman and before I got out of the river, the boat was leaking (never leaked before). Called and Pitman said I needed to continue to my dock as they didn't have space. Kept going and after getting through the Dunedin bridge ALL power went out. Again, a new problem. After two weeks of trouble shooting and replacing parts, determined that the problems were with the starter switch which was loose when I left Pitman and a hose within 6 inches of where they were performing maintenance, was dislodged. Wrote a nice letter explaining the problems they caused. Was shocked when they called and their response was to yell and curse at us over the phone. I'm still in shock any reputable business would treat a client in this manner. It was horrible and they even used the "F" word. They won't ever see my face or boat again. I notice other negative reviews lately - are they under new management or something? We've never experienced any problems before. read more

I had my boat and outdrive painted at Pitman Yacht Services, picking it up on a Saturday. When I got about a mile away from the dock I noticed my bilge pump kicking on. I went straight to my boat lift and pulled the boat out of the water. The following Monday I called and spoke with Dave, who assured me that he had inspected my bellows prior to starting work and found them to be in excellent shape (they had been replaced about a year earlier). Dave said that there would be no reason that he would know of that a leak could have been caused at their yard. I called my marine mechanic (a very reputable shop) and was told that unfortunately they were very backed up and could not receive the boat for inspection for weeks. When they finally had an opening I lowered my boat and took it straight there (It had not been in the water since returning from the bottom job). Upon inspection a tear was found in the shift cable bellows, running perpendicular to the ridges. They indicated that it could have possibly been caused by scraping or pressure washing the outdrive before painting. I had the bellows replaced, notified Pitman and sent them a copy of the repair invoice. Although they agreed to review it and get back to me, I have not been able to get them to respond further to phone calls or emails, nor have they contacted my marine mechanic to discuss. I cannot recommend Pitman Yacht Services. read more
