I found this place thanks to my Lonely Planet guide book which said that the leather goods here…read morewere not to be missed and that this is one of the few places in Venice that makes truly quality leather goods. (Everyone in Italy told me that if you are doing serious leather goods shopping, the place to go is Firenze.)
I came in and had a look at the shoes and bags and my god, they really are amazing. The craftsmanship is there and at reasonable prices. I mean if you are going to have shoes made from scratch specifically for you from a professional cobbler, they usually start at $1000 (approx. 700 Euros). The boots I saw here were in the 300-400 Euro bracket. If I had not already bought my ankle boots earlier in my trip, I would have bought them here instead.
Also, Mr. Balducci was quite pleasant to deal with when he answered my questions. Most Venetian merchants are pretty grouchy since their city has become a tourist Disneyland, and I don't blame them one bit.
