Horrible service! First of all, the guy at the key counter said he couldn't make a key on a pre bought key. Then, he decided to do it but charged more $ than normal. Then, he cut it completely incorrectly - it does not fit my door at all! This is the WORST Ace ever: horrible customer service. I will be asking for a refund on this cut. I paid good $ for that key from an artist and now it's useless. read more

I don't go often, but the folks here have always been friendly and helpful. Extremely disappointed with my most recent visit. Went in to have a car made and programmed. They had to order the key, which took nearly 2 weeks to come. Not their fault, but frustrating. The key finally comes so I go in after work (abt 4 pm) to have it programmed, and the first thing I see when I pull up is a NEW sign sitting out front that says keys have to be programmed between 10:30 and 3. These are WORKING HRS FOR MOST PEOPLE! I explained that I will never be able to get here during those hours because I WORK, and this was not told to me at the time that I paid over $200 in advance to have the key made. The only thing offered was to see if I can come in on my possible 1 day of week that I'm off or take time off from my job to come at those hrs. I've already been waiting for nearly 2 weeks for the key to come & now I need to wait for a possible day off. There was only one other customer in the store & I saw at least 3 workers, but was told they don't have enough staff outside of those hours...10:30 to 3! The store stays open until 7. How is it not possible for them to make a key? So now I have to miss time from work, which equates to losing money, just to accommodate these unreasonable restricted hours! Had I known any of this, I would have gone somewhere else! read more

Because the shelf label says covid-19? $12.99 for a box of gloves - why?! because harbor freight decided to donate theirs to locate medical locations I know these things are hard to find but this is not how to help us support smaller business that are able to remain open. read more

I shop Ace all the time. This is the first time here. They will not let me use the restroom. This is an idiotic policy. All the other ones have a restroom for the public if you want people to buy stuff- the spend the money to make your restroom available to the public. On top of it they are not helpful and rude. This review is long overdue. I have always seen great customer service from the staff at this hardware store. They've helped me find products on their shelves and make recommendations for alternate products if they don't have exactly what I need. They cut boards and PVC pipes to the exact length. The staff is always friendly and professional. I want to give John a special shout-out for his service today. He went above and beyond the usual great customer service I get. I wanted a wooden bench for my porch, but it would not fit in my car. John helped me disassemble the bench and fit it into the back of my car. He was right on top of it and got it done quickly. Great products at great prices and great customer service. I will keep going back to Ace as long as I live here. read more

For a smaller ace they have all the essentials. It's closer and you have more assistance than the local Home Depot. Very good customer service and exchange procedures. I have always been impressed for a older / smaller hardware store. read more

This store has their own parking. It's pretty good size parking and always have found a good spot. This hardware store is small but they have plenty of items. The people here are very helpful and knowledgeable. I think the prices are reasonable. I like coming here because the service is good and they are pretty fast. It's not like the huge hardware store where you go get one little item and you're there for a long time. I came to get to get a duplicate key from the time I parked to when I got in the car was 5 minutes. Price was reasonable. I love coming here I recommend trying this place over the big hardware store. read more

Customer service is terrible! You have to watch what your charged for sale items. This is the second time back to back where an item is listed on Sale and it doesn't ring up for the correct price. Instead of the cashier making the adjustment they try to tell you ohh yea it rang up for the sales price. Then you get to your car and notice that was a LIE!!! Smh why not just make the adjustment when I literally brought you over the sales tag!!! And I also was nice enough to put the tag back! The red headed lady just didn't want to bother! It's was only a couple bucks difference but it's the whole principle and knowing you have to question everything listed on sale. Response to manager it was for the Craftsman Nail gun it was on sale from $27.99 to $12.99 and then had a RED Hot deal tag for an additional $3.00 off to make it $9.99. They saw it for $12.99 not $9.99 and yes we used our ACE rewards card. I brought them over the tag to show what it said and they tried to convince me it was taken off but the receipt shows $12.99. It's $3.00 so not a huge deal but this has happened twice back to back with items on sale. read more

Very disappointed. I like to support local small businesses and always checked with ACE before the big box stores. That all changed today. They used to cut keys for me that I brought in myself. They wanted $70 to cut a transponder key I can buy online for $10 (600% markup?!). If they don't want to cut a key that I didn't buy there then that's fine but the attitude and BS excuse about liability was too much. I left and went straight down to Home Depot and they cut it for free! Now thats the type of service I was accustomed to and keeps customers coming back! read more

Can't say enough positive things about this store. Made a purchase then decided after 22 days that the item was not a fit. Esmeralda listen and said we could bring it back. Walked in the store and was treated with courtesy and money refunded. Will definitely shop here again. read more

It's interesting that the bad reviews have horrible spelling or refer to women as "females." Ace Hardware is a dying breed and Pittsburg is lucky to have this store. Came in the Friday before Labor Day for the sale and couldn't find the pop-up canopies that were on special. Asked a young man in the plumbing area and he let me know they came in three colors. I chose blue and he immediately went to the back area and carried it up to the front for me. He was very friendly. He also helped me find a collapsable leaf barrel just by me describing it. Picked up a twin-pack of propane and the young lady at the checkstand said it came free with a $50 purchase. The same young man offered to everything in my car! HORRIBLE! Terrible service! Terrible management! Discriminatory! RUDE! The manager of the place was clueless about what is posted on the Ace Hardware websites or knowing what he charges! He hadn't been to the website in so long not only did he not recognize it but he couldn't perform a search! I just asked why he was so overpriced compared to the website and I was whisked to a corner where he spent 20 minutes not able to find it on his computer and then walked away! I was left to either pay his high price or leave....guess you know I didn't give them my $! Ordered it online for less than HALF the price he was charging! This was my second time to give "local business" a chance, but definitely not worth it at all. Oh yes, I have a disability and when I walked in, the manager walked away from me 3 times as I tried to approach him to ask for help. If I could rate with a minus category, that would be appropriate. I think it's funny as heck the first review says Tommy accused them of stealing over less than 3 bucks, what an idiot, Tommy is one of the nicest there. I just noticed there weren't any current reviews on here so I thought I'd put one. Go here for keys, they make them quick and cheap. If you do go here, don't complain when they ring you up and something that is 99 cents comes up for $1.08, that's called tax people, everyone has to pay it. Ace Hardwares are owned separate the people who own this one own the ones in Brentwood, Oakley and Antioch as well, so if you bring something to return from a Hayward Ace and they don't have it, don't get mad at the employees, it's not their fault, they just work there. If you have questions about a big project or something, ask if Robert is there, he knows his $h!t and will get you what you need if they have it. Don't go here if you like air conditioning, they don't have any. Don't go here if you like products that aren't covered in dirt, they have a dirt lot out back and it blows in because there's a draft. That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the product you just might need to dust it if it's not in a package. Do go here if you need cleaning supplies, they have literally every type of cleaner you can think of. Do go here if you just need a couple things real quick and don't want to go to Home Depot or Lowes which are further out for some people. And finally, if you do go here to get hardware (nails, nuts, bolts) please please for your own convenience write the quantity and price of the item on the little bag using the pens provided. It makes checkout so much easier. Seriously. Overall good for quick things, and customer service is generally nice unless you are stealing which is a problem for this location because its in Pittsburg. I'll repeat that, this store is in Pittsburg and they do what they can with what they have. read more

I live just around the corner from the store,, so even though some of their items might be slightly more expensive then the big stores I will come here because it's closer to home. I like to try to support local businesses as much as I can,, I came into the store today to purchase approximately $28 worth of merchandise. I handed the cashier $100 bill,, he looked at it as he was turning towards his anti counterfeit machine and stated that he hadn't seen a bill this old in some time. he called his manager over to look at it and his manager said he wouldn't be able to accept it because it didn't have the new iridescent stripe on it. the bill was a 1990 series. I then handed him another hundred dollar bill (2008 series) he put it under his machine and told me he couldn't accept this one either. So essentially they won't take money unless it's the brand new paper currency with the hologram numbers that are less than a year or two old . I told him what I thought about his policy and walked out of the store. it's a shame that small businesses that I know are struggling to compete with the Giant megastores would do something like this. Perhaps they had a lot of issues with counterfeit money but surely there is more than one way to check then just this machine that he had .
