Both the PFDs and the shuttle vans could use some updating, however. The canoe itself was fine, as were the oars. The river route was very peaceful, with the exception of some choppy water occasionally, with some rocks we had to maneuver around. We did get stuck in a shallow section, but that was on us for not realizing how shallow it was. The take-out was fine, if a little muddy. Overall a good experience.

What if one in your group dips out of the plans. Then you have either paid for person and you're out that money or you have an extra ticket that you may or may not use. Accept a deposit at the time of reservation but the whole thing is a little ridiculous. Pre-covid, they passed out flyers on the shuttle out to the river. If you returned the flyer when you returned, you'd get a free scoop of ice cream. Our family used to love that. We'd still buy more ice cream but after paddling all afternoon, we'd love to sit and relax with our ice cream before loading everything back up and talk about the neat stuff that we seen. This by no means is their fault. I just hope they keep it in mind and bring it back in some way. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons. The shuttle that we rode in sounded and felt like it could use some maintenance and because the 2 rental kayaks we rented for our kids-both had tons of pieces of styrofoam, pieces of tree, and spiders in them. You don't have to spray them out after every use but least spray out the kayaks before using them each season.

I come from a long line of steelworkers and thought I pretty much knew all there was to know. That was, until the tour. The tour guide was extremely informative. Most of the folks working (volunteering) at Carrie have some connection to the steel industry. In addition to the tour, I have had the privilege of attending events there as well. Yep, they rent out the space. Everything was well put together at the events and having the furances as backdrop took it to the next level. As far as the tours go, I feel so strongly that Pittsburgh natives and tourists alike take one. It's really incredible to learn how much of the country was built because of Carrie.

The tour lasted about 2.5 hours and was mostly outside in direct sunlight. There were a few opportunities for shade, but not many. If you come on a hot day, plan to arrive hydrated and grab a complimentary water bottle from the check in desk. You'll need it. Parking is plentiful, the history is intriguing, and the art scattered about the property is thoughtful and engaging. If you're lucky, you'll spot some wildlife who inhabit the surrounding area.

The scene shots, the pictures, painting and props, just top notch and very "well" done, speaking of the well, it was great, we both did poses in the well with precious and the music and the background music and all were great, we had a blast. A++++++++. It was great, and if you can get a bunch of people to go, all the more better. It can slept 8 so it would be a great and fun group weekend. For an older home, you would expect it to be a little musty, but no, it was fresh and clean and just wonderful. I loved having coffee watching the trains go by, car counting. it was just awesome, all of it. Watching the Silence of the Lambs on the big screen up stairs, while being in the house while watching it, was epic and a nice way to top off the evening. Voyager has been my favorite FBO at the airport and I highly recommend parking there if you're coming in here. This airport is nice because of location, long runways, solid instrument approaches, super reasonable fuel prices and nice folks working in the Tower. Flying in here from the Northwest, you get some nice views of the city of Pittsburgh. It's a class D airport under a class B shelf, but I've never had much trouble being cleared into the class B even if flying VFR. I'm not sure if there are any commercial services here, but if you're looking to learn how to fly or you just got your license and you're looking for a "$100 hamburger" run, KAGC is a great choice. Voyager has some nice courtesy cars they let you use. Flying into KAGC and then going to Meat & Potatoes for brunch or dinner is bound to be a great day out. Happy safe flying!

We were having a surprise 60th birthday party for our friend and we're able to bring in catered food and our own alcoholic beverages. They were very accommodating to us, allowing us to set up a little early and then allowed us an extra hour (which we paid for) after the 2 hour painting session. The instructor was very nice and guided us through the painting process step by step. She had an assistant who made sure we were well stocked with paper towels and paints. In the end everyone had a respectable painting to take home. Some of us are more talented than others, but it was fun nonetheless! If you're looking for something different to do to celebrate a birthday, this is a great option. They also off a full calendar of events you can attend solo or with just a friend or two. They have many different classes to choose from. And of course they have holiday themed ones as well.

There's a small waiting room near the front desk, or you may drop and go. If you'd like to enter with your child, there's an additional $5 fee. Lenora gave us plenty recommendations on navigating Perryopolis, where to go for dinner, etc. My son enjoyed being slightly pampered by her, like having an extra relative showering him with gifts. I personally loved hearing Lenora's life stories. As a foodie wanna-be, she's an amazing and inspiring woman. My only regret is that we were not able to eat in her restaurant. From what I heard and read, it's a great place to dine. We hope to have another opportunity to visit her inn or restaurant in the future!

1st bikepacking trip and it was so worth it. This place is a haven…read more I parked about 20 miles from the campground as this was my first bikepacking and I wanted to test how I could handle carrying the gear. I reserved online about a month before, and the price in late 2026 was under $30 per person per night. For a small additional fee, I bought a bundle of firewood that was waiting for me when I got there. This campground is quite roomy and most of the area is flat, except a small hill leading to the Youghiogheny River. There are plenty of picnic tables, and also some covered areas if you want to tent under shelter. There are fire pits and placed to cook on coals. The owner came by to check on things and introduce himself. There were 12 of us this night and there was so much room. The pictures don't do it justice. There is a clothes washing area (sink and washboard, no machines), bike washing area, TV (no one bothered; it's too nice in nature), electricity to charge devices, two real bathroom toilet/sink enclosures, two plant-filled spa-like showers, coffee maker, and free coffee. There's even a box of stickers in the kitchen, $1 per sticker, honor system. The river looked gorgeous in the night with lights reflecting off it. There is an active train line across the river, and you will hear it at night. I got used to is pretty quick; bring earplugs if that's an issue. There are absolutely no other drawbacks. This campground is within a mile of the West Newton GAP Trail parking area, and there is a bike shop right next to it. There are restaurants close by as well. I will be back!
