Fantastic little spot I hit up since I'm in Prague on business that I had put on my bucket list because it was recommended by the "Honest Guide" guys from Prague on You Tube. (Anyone going to Prague as a visitor I recommend checking out their videos as they are very instructive about great things to see, do and eat as well as all the scams to avoid.) About a 10 min walk from my city center hotel and a bit off the beaten path from the hordes of tourists which makes it even better, this place delivers on beer, meat based authentic Czech comfort foods, beer and more beer. Oh and did I mention they do beer? Really, for those of you that are beer fans, this might be as close to Mecca as you are going to ever get. I am not even a big beer person and I certainly found plenty to like. This is a 2 level spot. You enter on the main floor which is really more of a bar atmosphere with counter and high top communal seating. Go downstairs to the basement for low tops if you want a more private table. The upper level feels a lot like an adult-themed Starbucks (no free internet though but who cares because you will be too sloshed to safely navigate the internet anyway!) Either way, the beer and the food is the same. There are at least 5 rotating taps of local fresh beer and it really is cheaper than bottled water here. My pint of local IPA was about $1.90 USD. Coupled with my Beef Goulash and Bread Dumplings for $5.30 and I had a filling, authentic, tasty and intoxicating lunch for under $7.50. For the quality of food and beverage I received, that is a smoking hot deal. The servers are helpful and friendly, speak several languages and can easily steer you around the menu and the beer list. I was impressed that this was probably the largest and broadest beer list in the entire Czech Republic with well over 150 beers on the menu. Many bottled beers are from other countries and there are really some interesting labels and styles that I know nothing about so I stuck to the local taps. Unfortunately, I was so jet-lagged that I could only down a single beer without falling out of my chair. I'm disappointed because there were several that I would like to have tried and certainly several menu items that sound outstanding. That is my lame excuse that I am going to use for the next few days to go back without feeling guilty like a closet alcoholic or a Goulash groupie. I have no expertise with Czech food, beverages or culture. But judging by the number of local Czech folks in the place, I think this turns them on too so I feel confident in giving this a high recommendation. Certainly for a tourist that isn't as discriminating, I really don't think you can go wrong here for a solid local experience, a cool setting, some tasty food, and a really good beer. read more

Friend had recommended me this spot since he watched Mr. Bourdain himself making a recommendation. My friend and I had just finished up dinner so we wanted somewhere to go for a beer, or two, or 99... you catch my drift? This spot ended up being one of the chillest bars I've ever been to in Europe. It's off the beaten path being about a 20 minute walk from the main city center that everyone spends most of their time in while in Prague. It's a two-floors establishment with the bottom having the main bar where you can order drinks. The two bartenders that sat us were super friendly and informed us that they had five different beers on draft at the moment. Fast forward two hours later and I got the chance to try three of the five options, each with its own unique taste. Czech beer is definitely up there especially if you enjoy lagers so drink away. They also have non-alcoholic beer which my friend (who doesn't drink) kept and brought home with him to the States. Cheers! Warning: They seem to pour a lot of head here in Prague. Excellent selection of the beers on top - my favorite was Smoked Lager which actually had smoke undertones, but all others were excellent too (yep, tried them all). The restaurant offers a great selection of various local dishes mostly from pork and duck, but you can find beef goulash, venison, ostrich and more on the menu. Very nice soups (I had both garlic and sauerkraut, very tasty), smoked meat assortment (cold cuts) and more. Most highly recommended - great experience. read more

Came here after seeing this place on an old episode of No Reservations. I was intrigued by the thought of so many Czech beers in one place, as well as enjoying some delicious, enormous pork knuckle, and other types of Czech food. Hoo-wee. We all went for draft beers, all of which are named after people, and they'll let you know if they're out of something. If nothing on the draft menu intrigues you, there are over 240 types of bottled beers, so you have a few options. To start, we tried the (cold) salmon in beer jelly. I can see why people would like this dish, but it really wasn't our cup of tea. The salmon was fine, but the beer jelly added a sourness that none of us really liked. However, the pork-knuckle, as promised, was almost 1 Kg, and was more than enough to feed our group of 4. It was crispy and fatty at the same time, with the meat falling off the bone. While it was overwhelming near the end, we managed to finish it and were very proud of ourselves for doing so. We also went for the venison goulash, which was also a huge portion, and came with a lot of potatoes. The Czech and their potatoes, man, it's a beautiful thing. Our server was very helpful with the beer and food recommendations, and we really enjoyed his humorous commentary throughout the meal. Prices were very reasonable, and we only ended up paying about $25 per person, which included all of our drinks and a healthy tip at the end of the meal. In all, the food is pretty solid pub fare, and the huge variety of beers makes this place an easy choice for a chill night. We went on a Saturday night, and it was mostly locals and not terribly crowded, so it was a nice escape from the touristy parts of the Old Town. read more

Listened to past reviewers and came for the beer. Decided to try some foods we had not had before. The beer and Sauer kraut soup was AMAZING!!! Highly recommend. For main course, we had the pork knuckle, Sauer Kraut and potato dumplings. House specialty. The pork was tender and delicious. It would not be the same without the kraut. They go together. The dumplings soak up the beer gravy and add even more. Make each bite a bit of each. They compliment each other perfectly. Warning, this place fills up. You can make reservations as well. We got lucky and walked in just as a pair we're leaving. Very friendly staff. English speaking. More beers than you knew existed. Highly recommend. read more

A very friendly bartender/waiter greeted us in English and said we could sit anywhere. At the high tops we ordered local beers and perused the menu. The waiter was most accommodating when it came to menu changes. More than happy to substitute dumplings for potatoes, etc. It was smoke free while we were there and didn't interfere with my local sausage and potatoes which were excellent. Service excelled, food very enjoyable, warm atmosphere, $60 equivalent for four with drinks, and easy to find. What else could you want? read more

Yelp: A few blocks away from the Florenc metro station, we happened upon this gem of a beer bar. As a hard liquor guy, this place didn't have an amazing list of liquor, but enough to keep me busy while my lady perused the giant beer menu. Food We ordered the wiener schnitzel with potatoes and were not disappointed. It came out hot and fresh, and was actually the best wiener schnitzel we had the whole week we were in Prague. The boiled potatoes that were served with it were buttery and tasty. Beer The menu states that it has the largest beer menu in the country. While I can't confirm that, I can tell you that they had a lot of different beers. Some I recognized, many more that I did not. Service The server was patient with the language barrier while we selected our drinks, and seemed to be an amicable guy. The atmosphere was friendly, especially once some locals wandered in. Our food came quickly as well. One note: here, as in all of Prague apparently, it can take a long time to get your bill and pay. Ask for the check as soon as you can. All in all, this was a very good bar, especially for the craft beer enthusiast. If you're in the area, it's worth a look. read more

This fantastic quiet beer bar & restaurant is a bit off the beaten path in Praha but totally worth seeking out for the 6 Czech drafts and hundreds of additional bottled beers, plus fine traditional food. No wifi but accepts credit. No, you won't get Pilsner Urquell on tap at Pivovarsky klub. Much better, you will find a friendly English-speaking staff, a totally smoke-free room, and fresh 0.3l drafts of local beers for about 40 Korunas (about us$1.75). Yes all you students, you're drunk for less than ten bucks. But instead of getting sloppy, treat yourself to a full meal of that wonderful soup plus something traditional like goulash over those dumplings, all for about $12. Same menu at lunch at about half the price! If you choose one of the high tables upstairs in the bottle room, admire the hundreds of glasses and matching beer bottles arranged around the walls. Sure I've collected a few beer glasses in my time, but this place exposed me for the rank amateur that I am lol. read more

Surfing Yelp for good local restaurants with good beer we came across this little gem. We were on vacation & knew nothing of the area, nor do we speak the language. Upon entering we were greeted by the bartender/waiter with a big smile who thankfully spoke some English. There were 5 craft beers on tap, as well as many, many varieties in bottles. I didn't see any available in the US (except of course Pilsner Urquell) & was very happy to try other styles. I started with a dark beer, my personal preference & was not disappointed. For dinner I ordered pork with spinach crepes. The food was delicious but I couldn't come close to finishing it it was such a large portion. I wish I could have brought home leftovers but alas, staying in a hotel wouldn't allow for it. Our waiter who was doing double duty was very friendly & made us feel much less out of place. Sadly, I won't be visiting this restaurant again but hopefully my Yelp review will encourage others to try it. Awesome Place! read more

I know it's terrible to admit, but I was getting a bit restless with the pilsner urquell everywhere and not much else. This place was a sight for sore eyes and haven for beer lovers. They have the largest selection of the country (or so they say), with a ton of beers and liquers from the Czech Republic, as well as imports from Germany, the UK, and Belgium. Prices for drafts or "domestics" are fair (35 to 45 crowns), while the imports were understandably higher around 155 crowns. We meant to just get drinks, but the food that kept passing by us looked too tempting. We started with fried broccoli, which was simple but hit the spot. Everyone around us kept ordering the pork in dark beer sauce with spinach crepes, and when the server told us it's his favorite dish, we had to try it. The meat was tender, and the sauce thankfully not too bitter. My friend ordered the "fried" (aka slightly heated up) cheese, which was a bit too stinky and overpowered with minced garlic for my taste. It would have been a great experience if not for the server yelling at us on our way out for not tipping. I told him that I was going to leave it in cash, and while I was in the restroom, he berated my friends and told them it was "very bad" behavior. It really bummed us out to realize that he was being fake the whole time when we thought he was a genuinely friendly guy. read more

This place was recommended to us by two American friends who love beer/ales. It is ideally situated near the main bus station so as soon as we arrived in Prague (bus from Vienna-Prague...Google Student Agency for awesome, cheap bus tickets - no you don't have to be a student) we came here. It is easy to find, on a main street, and is really cool inside with so many bottles of beer on show. They have IPAs on draft which my boyfriend was happy about. I even tried one as well and quite enjoyed it!! The food though was the best bit for me. Ohhhh. Lovely. It is very similar to what we are used to in Austria but perhaps tastier! I had smoked ham with dumplings and creamed spinach and my boyfriend had venison goulash with potato dumplings (this type of dumpling is amazzzzing and I have never tasted anything similar in Austria)...check out my photos! The waiter was extremely friendly, trying to help us out with beers and food despite his little knowledge of English. This was our first impression of Czech people and I am happy to report that we had the same lovely experience with all Czech people. read more

This place clearly focuses on the point of having a variety of beer. Thats its strength and it definitely has plenty of the variety. We were a group and had to wait 1.5 hours for our next bus and needed some food and drinks. Saw this place as a suggestion and just dove in. Staff was very friendly and immediately provided us with their beer on tap. And took our orders for food. Food was good, can't complain as we didnt go with the highest of expectations. As I have only been there once I felt the food hit the spot as we were thirsty and slightly hungover from the day before. Nothing tasted bad. However, I can imagine you can find a place that can probably prepare the dishes better. Beer on tap was delicious and tasted good. However, for so much beer in the house, I was surprised that they only had a few beers on tap. And the beers on tap were not a variety of pils/lager but ales and specific tastes. If we were back in Prague and near the bus station again, I'd definitely give this place another try to see if its good. What I would recommend is if you are in the area with a group, this place will do you just fine. They have good beer and food poses no threat or problem. However, this would not be the place where you remain all night long. Its a great start off point! read more

What a wonderful place! They have a HUGE selection of beer in stock and the wait staff are very friendly. Chill and friendly is a great way to describe this place. No music or live bands, but excellent food and atmosphere to chat with friends. There were four in our party, and we enjoyed a selection picked by the bartender of traditional foods. Smoked pork, venison stew and spinach crepes. All were exceptional and came to our table quickly. Four full meals and 7 beers later and we were out of there only spending $50! read more

Visited on a wednesday evening in the middle of August. If you want to go some place to drink something els then the normal chech beers this is the place to go to. A lot of locals, friendly english speaking staff and good service. I tried a couple of chech beers from micro brewers that where solid. Ate there smoked duck served with bread dumplings and saurkraut that was the best I've eaten. Amazing place that I definitaly will visit again when I'm im Prague! read more

Well I'm a little disappointed because after finding this off the beaten path place while stumbling around in the middle of the night (my first night here and still jet lagged) I Yelped it and it didn't show up much to my surprise. I started to think I was breaking new ground for the Yelp empire but after checking in here 5 reviews popped up. So anyway wow what a great spot! Looks like a beer store upon first glance they boast some 240 beers on their website and claim the largest beer list in the country. Mostly bottled only 5 on draft all on display on main level as somebody previously posted. Excellent friendly service we sat in the cavernesque downstairs and had one of my most memorable dining/drinking experiences ever had in Europe. And it was just lunch. I was sorry I had to limit myself to just 4 beers. Food - remarkable. My nephew and I both had the beer and sauerkraut soup which had delicious hunks of ham, great flavor. He went for the venison goulash and dumplings which was quite good but what truly blew me away was the ostrich medallions that were cooked absolutely perfect. Served with apples, cranberries and even kiwi along with 3 kinds of potatoes I was beside myself that an unassuming place like this could nail a dish like ostrich. Pic of that will be attached along with the servers favorite Czech beer which like everything else served here was stellar. Its not exactly a unique place, I've been to similar establishments in other countries, but given that Czech beer is so good and given the amount of different beers available to try here, this bar definately stands out as a must see for any Prague bound beer lover. I was lucky enough to live directly above the Pivovarský klub this past semester. In fact, this was the very first place I ate after arriving in the Czech Republic! As others have said, the beer (and the beer selection) here is bar none. I espescially love the rotating beers on tap - the draft beers are labelled 1 - 6 and change every once in a while. The food is good, but not the best. And, being so close to a major bus station, hotel, and only one stop up from Hlavni on the metro, you can definitely find better Czech fare for cheaper if you're willing to look for it. PRO TIP: Eat downstairs if you can - my one consistent experience here is that the staff downstairs are far, far friendly than the staff on the ground level. read more

Outstanding food and best selection of beer. The wife and I stayed in Prague for 11 days. We only ate Czech food and tried not to eat at the same place twice, besides here. The food is great and worth the walk or short taxi ride outside of the main tourist area. Also, the beer selection is the best. Most places around Prague 1 offer 3-4 beers maybe even less, but this place has, I'm guessing, over 100 beers, with 6 on tap and many of them from Czech breweries. My wife and I were exhausted after a long day and looked to Yelp for dinner ideas. This place was close to our hotel and received good reviews. We walked in to a packed pub. A few seats were vacant among long tables. Downstairs was full with a few empty tables that had reserved signs. To our luck a gent left the bar and that allowed us to pull up a couple of chairs. At first the bartender seemed a little off but he was very busy taking care of the entire pub! He quickly took our drink order and seemed happy to take our food order as we were prepared. They had six beers on tap and hundreds in bottles. The food came out quick and was excellent!! The portions were ample and the prices on target. Would definitely go back!! read more

I had made a reservation here for dinner specifically in the upstairs room. We arrived on time, but were ignored by the lone waiter manning the busy room as he chatted idly with a customer, never once caring that other customers were waiting. When we did finally get his attention and told him we had a reservation, he told us, "Downstairs." Downstairs I hadn't even managed to tell the waitress that we had a reservation when she shook her head at us. When I did tell her that we had a reservation, she know of it and said, "Upstairs." Back upstairs we told the apathetic waiter, but he literally shrugged, said, "There's no space" and turned his back on us. We walked out. This was the worst service I've experienced in a long time. The service was so bad in fact, it was almost funny. But there's no way I would ever give this place my business. read more

We ducked into this pub to escape a chilly rainy day...and are so glad we did. Visiting from the US, we found pub fare in Prague to be warm and hearty and very flavorful, and Pivovarsky Klub did not disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed the beef in cream sauce with crispy potato pancakes on the side (I love you Prague and your abundance of potato pancakes!). The menu here is large and thankfully they offered English menus to us to help navigate the selections more easily. Also, service is so speedy...hot, fresh meals offered up in less than 10 minutes, and although we weren't in a rush to head back to out into the rain, if you needed to dash in for a tasty lunch you definitely could manage here. I really wish I could get this food here at home in the States. read more

If you are dark skinned or Asian, beware. The bar tender at this club made it more than obvious that he hated our intrusion. The previous reviews had led us into a false sense of hope for an awesome experience in hospitality. Sad to say, the reverse was the case. First this fellow says hello and puts a hand out and when we respond, he pulls his hand back. We think it was a mistake but It doesn't end there as he does everything from showing exasperation at showing us the menu to pointedly shaking his head and rolling his eyes when we ask for a refill. We realise we aren't welcome so we pay our bill and leave the venue having ordered an uber. My friend is resting on the door of a car outside as we wait and unbelievably this guy comes out and yells, yes yells,at us for resting on his car. Thankfully, the rest of our Prague experience was quite wonderful or I would have thought that racism is rampant in this beautiful country. Avoid if you are any colour other than white. read more

Great little pub. If you're tired of only two choices of beer like other bars in Europe (light or dark), then the Pivovarsky Klub is for you. They had 6 beers on tap, mostly Czech, but also from Belgium. There were two coolers full of bottle beer options as well, including craft beers from the US. I think they advertised over 180 beer options. With dinning areas on the ground floor as well as in the basement, there is plenty of space. The menu is in multiple languages (including english) so you should have no troubles finding something to eat. My wife and I enjoyed the goulash and the schnitzel. We would definitely return if ever in Prague again. read more

Recommended by our friends at Taste of Prague, Pivovarsky Klub has the widest selection of beers that we saw in Prague. There are always five local beers on tap and we tried three of them: a dark lager, an India pale lager and a pilsner. All were great. But as we sat at the bar thinking about what to drink next, we decided we were a bit peckish and consulted their menu. They have a category called Yummies with Beer which is meant to cover bar snacks or appies. In North America, one would expect that category to include thing like onion rings, calamari, nachos, etc. But here, true to their Czech traditions we chose from a selection that included sausage in a spicy sauce and duck breast with pickles. The duck was very good, but the sausage was mouth wateringly outstanding. In fact, I'm salivating as I write this review. A bit of a walk from the more touristy areas, but right next to a metro stop. read more
