Seems fairly overpriced for what we receive. It cost 10$ for the cheese bread and this is what size it was. The fact that this place only has 3.5 stars is MIND-BLOWING!!!. We saw the sign for "volcanic pizza" and couldn't resist. Best. Decision. Ever. Aaron was working the front and we quickly caught a vibe. His recommendations were on point and we instantly felt at home. We had a mid half & half Mt. Vesuvius and Mt. Olympus. I went in w/ a goofy smile on my face, anticipating that I would experience the abusive treatment that so many yelpers have reported on. And so I was a little disappointed when the guy wasn't rude to me after all. I perked up a little when he chucked my credit card at me instead of handing it back, but alas, the rest of the time he was perfectly nice. I've read that the place is owned by Phil Silver, who is assisted with his 2 sons and his daughter-in-law, Jacque. I'm not sure which of these gentlemen is the one w/ the notorious anger-management issues, but Jacque made our delicious pizzas and was very polite and professional. We ordered 3 pizzas, all 10". They were all good. Depending on your taste in pizza, you might even say they were great. CRUST: Very thick and fluffy, with a very yeasty fresh-baked smell. So if you like thick crust, this is your place. SAUCE: Personally, I liked the sauce a lot. There was more than I usually like but if you're into a lot of sauce, this is your place. It also had a little smokiness and a little heat. When I commented that it had a bit of a kick to it, my kids agreed but decided that they liked it that way. TOPPINGS: All of the toppings seemed fresh and generously portioned. Not too much, not too little. Because of the thick crust, ample sauce, and generous portions, I would probably call Pi Whole pizza a deep-dish pizza. I'm more of a thin pizza type, myself, but I can see how a lot of people would really love to dig into this stuff. Well made! The establishment itself is very comfortable and attractive. It's the pizza parlour ambience that horrible Me 'n Ed's wishes they had. I didn't find the prices too onerous at all! Maybe if you're used to Domino's it seems pricey. But when you order a 10" pizza for $10, you actually get a lot of really good pizza. Come on, 2 years ago I paid $14.50 for the same sized pizza at Me 'n Eds and it was smaller and tasted horrible (read my review). NOTE: It sounds like the owner has earned himself some haters so beware of a few of the hostile reviews. Pinto P and Prasan P ONLY write terrible, terrible reviews. Same person? Related? Some in our party had been there before and received reasonable service and food... We sat at a table outside, in front of the door, waiting a few minutes and one in our party ordered drinks and asked for a menu... She was told that they had to make two pizzas before serving us... We waited over 40 minutes and no one helped us, apologized, etc... We were totally ignored the entire time we were there... Finally, we gave up waiting and being insulted and left... George was great. This place is not for everyone. 50 min to get my order and the menu says it come with Pi-Tato and a pickle however it didn't. We asked about the Pi-Tato and the server said there wasn't a substitute. So we paid full price for not what was ordered. So what do we do now? I do not recommend this place at all. Finally, a local pizza joint with great food and personal customer service. I was there after work for a quick personal pizza and a soda and it was just over $12. A little expensive but the food was tasty and fresh. I chatted with the owner the whole meal and he made me feel completely at home and we had a great conversation. He even introduced me to other locals who frequented the place. Definitely is a place our family loves to get solid pizza for a decent price. read more

I usually don't give bad reviews, if you can't say anything good don't say anything at all. However, this time I feel some responsibility to let people know of my experience. Three things to share. Pizza, maybe worst ever, very greasy and soggy, definitely not quality meat toppings. Next, chicken wings, some over cooked others under cooked. Wings possibly frozen, warmed in a microwave and placed in the pizza oven. Last, even though the service was very slow, the gentleman working the register was very friendly and polite. Here it is, my first negative review. Congratulations Pi Whole! Let me just start out by saying that the pizza is good. Not great, not terrible...just good. However, the pizza isn't good enough to endure a lecture from some gangly man-bun because I didn't answer his call about replacing a missing ingredient. I guess the pizza guru couldn't come up with a satisfactory replacement to "balance the flavor profile" on his own and needed my help. Once again, the "2 Georges" did a fantastic job of making THE best pizza that we've had on the Central Coast...and best of all, its in OUR LITTLE TOWN!! After many moons of searching for the right pizzaria, from Pismo Beach to Santa Maria, sometimes, that pizza Shangi-La is in your own back yard. ("Theres no place like home...theres no place like home..") After our last foray in search of good pizza, a disaster, at Palo Mesa, we finally realized that Pi Whole IS the best...and its especially at its finest when the owner and his son are taking the day, or night, off. And the great experience is heightened by the "2 Georges" as we call them, George 1 at the bar, and George 2 at the pizza oven. So this is amazing. My sister just called me. We had plans to have a get together at Pi's and she asked me to reconsider. She just went in, asked to see a menu, and the person handed her a stack. She told him she didn't have her glasses on could he help her. His reply, "I have a sore throat, you're on your own." She left. I was SHOCKED so called over there to speak to the owner. The person who answered said I am the owner. I asked if he was the only one there, he said yes. I told him the story and HE HUNG UP ON ME. WOW. How can this happen in a very small town? Some of these poor customer service reviews surprise me. My wife and I have gone here a couple times now and both times we enjoyed our service. The pizza was a little bit long in coming but nothing too bad. The TV was playing offroad racing which was actually kind of fun to watch. It inspired me to go buy a game for Xbox in fact haha. We are from out of town and decided to take the family and friends to a good pizza place. As far as the pizza goes, we weren't disappointed. The crust and the ingredients were excellent. It is one of the best I've tasted in recent memory. The Caesar salad on the other hand was nothing special. But, again, the pizza...great. As for the service, that depends on which staff you're dealing with. There is an older man who was friendly and chatty. He provided a nice homey feel to our stay. But then there is this larger gruff guy who is definitely rough around the edges. We asked him for a menu, but he just pointed to the stack of menus on the bar. Geez thanks. Then he brought us 2 warmed breadsticks on a pizza pan saying he forgot to give us this that comes with the salad. But instead of providing the breadsticks on a separate plate, he brings over the two small breadsticks on a large aluminum pizza plate held by a long pizza paddle. Then with that paddle he just tosses it onto our salad. LOL we all just looked at each other at the comical lack of manners. Overall, loved the food, service was good, but the manners can be smoothed out so that some customers won't be offended. We'll be back next time we're in town. read more

Pi whole. Where do i begin. They get fresh ingredients. I've watched the owner Phil fill out orders and receive the product on a regular basis. The red sauce is so stinking good, it is an acquired taste as it is slightly spicey but now id argue its the best and most unique pizza sauce i have ever had. Phil has a huge respect for good beer that matches his restaurants vibe and menu. It's one of the only places i have seen New Belgiums 1554 on tap (outside fort Collins) and he often has some other unique things as well. His beer choices pair well with the pizzas and he also serves wine. The place is most famous for the Lava bombs which are apparently like calzones or sandwiches depending on what you order. I have yet to try one as i love the pizza way to much to diverge from that. If you're looking for good pizza in Nipomo, please don't go to dominos, spend the extra cash and go to Pi Whole. There is a reason the other pizza place that used to be in nipomo, isn't there anymore. That reason is Pi Whole. read more

The owner works there always and mostly takes orders and bartends, but he is very nice and generous, talkative, friendly and funny. The price you pay for this delicious pizza is too cheap! My absolute fave pizza is the Mount Kilawea (all the pizza's are named after mountains - cute idea btw). -Several great beers on tap. -Several sizes (more than normal for a pizza place) to choose from. -Great deals, specials and coupons (if you know where to grab em). -Has an arcade for children. -Lots of flat screens on the walls for sports enthusiasts. -Comfortable seats. -Tables are pretty close together, booths have much more privacy. -Bathroom has a changing table in it (not usual for locally owned businesses) and is very clean. -Right off the 101 freeway off to the east in a tiny shopping center. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place!!
