Kids get to choose between painting ceramics/canvas or gaming or they can do both. There are also several party add-ons to make it even more fun like a cotton candy machine, which my daughter loved! What ultimately convinced me to book a party at Pixels was that you can bring in your own food! Many venues require you to use their preferred caterers or don't allow food at all. Pixels not only allows outside food but there's no extra charge! The cherry on top is of course Mai and Joseph, the couple who run Pixels. Great venue with a great concept! We celebrated my son's 9 birthday with a glow in the dark paint party and added on the additional video game package. Mai and Joe were super professional and kind. As a teacher, Mai knew how to get encourage the kids while providing great instruction as she led them through the project. We had older kids and some younger ones and they were really sweet about doing a separate ceramic paint project for the littles. Joe was at the littles beck and call adding paint, helping them clean their brushes and letting them paint on the butcher paper when they were done. It was nice to have the kids all calmly painting and chatting and then seeing them get excited for the video games. The venue was a great size, thoughtfully designed with plenty of spaces to hang out for kids and adults alike. All the little touches including the personalized digital birthday sign on the tvs and the collaborative paint project were appreciated. I'd highly recommend booking Pixels for your next kid bday party! The only downside (no fault of theirs) was the crazy Starbucks drive thru line that stretched well into the parking lot and blocked a lot of parking spaces in the plaza. read more

I highly recommend PIXELS for birthdays! Mai was very professional and nice and helped make a custom Godzilla canvas. Our little guest were so proud of their work! The space was perfect for my large party. I had 14 painters plus 3 little ones painting ceramics and 20 adults. It's also very clean and the decor is so beautiful that doesn't require for parents to bring much decorations. I added glitter tattoos, candy kabobs, and an extra hour. All of it was a hit and made the day all about the kids. Birthday boy and guest got to paint (which is a great sit down distraction) and keep their painting, they loved the glitter tattoos, and I added Candy kabobs to replace candy bags :) read more

I am so glad to have found pixels. We booked a birthday party for my four year old daughter at the last minute. We had planned for an outdoor party but had to switch to an indoor party because of the rain. Mai and Joe went above and beyond to make my daughter's birthday party special. The room was beautifully decorated when I arrived, I only added a couple props to go with our birthday theme. They created a collective art piece with the help of the guest for my daughter as a birthday present. Mai, who is a fifth grade teacher, was our paint instructor. Our party consisted of kids under five. Mai was very patient and great with them, everyone got to take home a beautiful painting. I was surprised as to how engaged the kids were given that they were so young. We added glitter tattoos and the cotton candy machine, which was amazing. Kids loved seeing Joe spinning the cotton candy. In addition, Joe had prepared extra cotton candy bags for kids to take home. Mai's glitter tattoo station was a hit; some kids went for two tattoos. There aren't too many places in San Jose where you can celebrate children's birthdays. The process was super easy and communication from the owners was excellent. The venue was spacious and fit a decent amount of people with plenty of room. The children had so much fun and adults had a really great time as well. Everyone loved the space. The owners were super nice and even had extra staff to make sure everyone was well taken care of. We'd love to come back. The moment we toured this place, we knew this is where we wanted to celebrate our daughter's 7th birthday party. Joe gave us a walk through and explained how the event will be organized. We immediately made a reservation and everything went as promised! We could bring our own food without any extra fee which was really helpful. The communication was very clear and using the glow kits as party favor saved us time on planning for the same. On the day of the event, we came in 30 mins early and noticed Mai & Joe were setting up the tables already. Everything was clearly arranged so we could plan on where everything went. We knew we picked the right place to host our event. After booking our event online Mai and Joe reached out to us to make sure we had everything we needed to make our celebration a success. We had a combination of Pre-teens and Toddlers and Mai came up with unique games and activities that involved everyone and kept the kids engaged. The kids (and Parents) loved the gaming room. We just had a recent experience with Pixels studio and it was wonderful. Their communication was excellent. We talked on the phone a couple of times and communicated through email. They provided us with detail information on how the day would look like. We also loved their service. Mai and her husband came a few minutes early and helped us with the set up. Both of them are also teachers so the painting lesson was well organized. They had enough helpers who walked around to help each child during the lesson too. The studio itself was clean and adorable. Other painting/ceramic studios are too cramped and there is not enough space for food set up. At Pixels they have a table area for food. They have party banners too so parents don't have to worry about decor. They also played kid-appropriate music which made it feel like a real party. We felt they gave everyone individual attention! - you can pick to paint different shaped pottery, stencilled canvas (there's a picture on the canvas already with lines drawn in) or even freehand painting. - loved the idea of painted pottery as they can blow dry and then take home right away. Mai led the art party to paint Elsa portrait for the girls and Sonic canvas painting for the boys. We hosted our son's 6th birthday at Pixels and it was a roaring success. The kids had an absolute blast, the parents wouldn't stop raving about how awesome the space and the services were, and it was incredibly easy to host the party with the team. From start to finish the Pixels crew took care of our every need and were in constant communication with us. Mai and Joe worked with us to develop a party themed around Roblox, including creating new stencils so the kids could paint their own Bloxy character. Mai kept the kids engaged the entire time. We had parents who were surprised the kids were able to sit still long enough to get through the art lesson because of how tough it was for them to sit through art projects at home/school, which is absolutely a testament to Mai's ability to keep a bunch of 5-7 year olds interested and having fun. Joe helped the kids get the hang of the consoles in the game room, and was right there when a kid was stuck. We had our daughters 8th Birthday here and we picked Sanrio - Cinnamaroll theme for painting! Pixels took care of the goody bags as well which were super adorbs! It had cute and different candy/toys -- not usual dollar tree type. The place is neat and clean & super cute esthetic wise. The coordinator was very interactive, she was helping the kids throughout the event. The coordinator also helped one of the kids who had ruined their painting, she helped her fix it. The coordinator also got all the kids together at the end to get their pictures taken with the painting (finish product) which anyone would totally forget at the end. I thought that was really nice. There was a surprise gift for the birthday girl that everyone had contributed and stamp painted together! There was also a surprise glow in the dark dance party which kids and adults both enjoyed! One feedback, there should be a water dispenser. Other than that everything was 10/10! We enjoyed from start to finish! I am already thinking to host my other daughters birthday there! Such a great venue and setup! We booked the Gaming package with face painting and glitter tattoo added on. The space was clean and spacious. It was already decorated for a party so we did not have to do much except bring our food and refreshments. Mai did an AMAZING job with the face painting and glitter tattoos. Joe monitored the kids in the game room while parents got to relax and kick back in the lounge. Towards the end of the party, the lights got dimmed and they brought out a smoke machine for a mini dance party! We loved everything about this experience. Mai was extremely patient and helping the kids out with all their paintings. Joe and Mai also had a special painting for the birthday girl with contributions from all the kids. The party favors were really cute with my daughter's name on it. Joe helped with the whole set up/cutting of the cake too. What a great party! We had my daughter's 7th birthday here and chose the glow in the dark paint/dance party. Mai and Joe were so easy to work with and accommodating from start to finish. We received so many compliments on the party. My daughter and her friends had a blast and the parents enjoyed it too! We chose several add-ons like the cotton candy, popcorn, and face painting, and we brought in some of our own decorations. Joe and Mai even helped me set up my own decorations before the party and clean up at the end, which in itself was unique compared to other party venues, and it was so helpful. I usually make my own favor bags but chose to purchase the Pixels favor boxes since they were so cute, much better quality than most venue provided goodie bags, and they even fit our Sanrio theme. Mai was wonderful with all the kids, making the painting aspect fun and successful, and getting the dance party started, as well as keeping the face painting organized. We fit a lot into a two hour party and everything flowed seamlessly. Any planning emails were met with a quick and courteous response, which assured me that the Pixels hosts are organized and reliable. (Not a given at many kids' party places!) We had such a great experience with Joe & Mai. After booking on their website, Joe was quick to contact me about our party. They were very accommodating with our requests, and even let us choose a special image for the painting instruction (the image was a bit complex, but they found a way to make it easy for our group of mostly 3rd graders). They even accommodated the boys and toddlers in our group who were able to choose a ceramic or gender neutral image to paint. I was super impressed with how kind and professional they were throughout the whole process. The day of, Joe let me come early so I could install a small balloon garland/backdrop as well. During the party, Mai did an amazing job keeping the kids engaged and was so kind and patient. She not only instructed the painting step by step, but had an opening game & ended with some music and dancing. They had so many thoughtful touches like the "keepsake" canvas with my daughter's name on it at the end.
