Basic range was good, the more expensive range had less toppings and flavour. Better taste and value elsewhere

I ate here after reading the one review currently posted and went in thinking I might add a review…read moremyself. Deciding whether to give 3 or 4 stars has been difficult to decide and taken careful consideration. I started with the Carpaccio di Bresaola ($19), comprised of a generous portion of shaved cured beef with a garnish of rocket, wedge of lemon, crostini, and cracked pepper. This was followed by the fish special of the day which was an adequate portion of grilled snapper served on a saffron, leek, and scallop risotto and dressed with a creamy lemon sauce ($35). Both these tasted great. The food was of a high quality, the idea of the starter was well conceived, and I appreciated the care to provide high quality daily specials using clearly fresh produce and that the risotto was al dente and well balanced. Chilled tap water was provided and as I'm working I also had a can of Coke Zero ($3.50). I was attended dutifully by cheerful and professional staff who cared for me well. The menu items were interesting, varied, and reassuringly limited in number. I can also confirm the tip offered by the previous reviewer suggesting that close attention be paid to the specials of the day as they're clearly informed by choices of freshly available local food (as well as their opinion that the decor is significantly dated). My concern about giving four stars is that the pricing of this meal was too high. For me, this is three dollar sign pricing for a very good two dollar sign dinner. The carpaccio salad would need to be bulked with literally 10x - 20x as much rocket to be shared by two people and while the snapper was prepared excellently and the risotto technique was good, it wasn't flawless (eg scallop too chewy due to overcooking) and the serving size, again fell slightly short, really indicating that a soup or dessert course is probably warranted for a fulsome meal, which needs to be considered in the context of your dinner budget. I'm wondering whether the location, on the waterfront with a curved frontage overlooking the beach, in a touristy town surrounded by hotels and beachside holiday accommodation may force their rent to levels requiring these kinds of prices. The food was good, the staff took care of me, and I appreciate the daily consideration of freshly available local produce, so I lean toward a rating of 4 stars but I will suggest the Yelp summary of this restaurant be changed to three dollar signs and I'm be interested in whether future reviewers will consider their dining experience matches their three dollar sign bill.

Decor is a bit retro in an obviously Italian theme. They have large bar with a Great selection of Italian Beers and Wines. I started with the special Figs with Gorgonzola wrapped in Prosciutto. It was delicious. Main was another special, Penne in Salmon sauce. Again tasty but not Super. Our table of 6 had a variety of pastas and all thought it was very good. A good variety of quality Italian desserts of which we sampled 3 again Delicious! Service was very friendly and efficient. Good came out quickly and hot. For 6 people, our own BYO Wine it was $45/person. All in our party agreed we would be back.

Had a great dining experience at Arnica on Duporth Avenue Maroochydore last night…read more Great to see a near full restaurant when we arrived at 7.30pm. We were cheerfully greeted when we arrived, and shown to our table right up against the window looking out over the moonlit Maroochy River experiencing a king tide. Our young waiter, who appeared to be continental European knew his business, and looked after us well with great timing. Wine and water looked after for the night, great wine/meal matching advice. A nice 2009 Vasse Felix Cab Sauvignon was enjoyed. We opened with sea food entrée's. I had a lovely salmon mignon, Karen went straight for her favourite.....Scollaps. Both absolutely perfect. For mains, I had a great eye fillet. Cooked to perfection - medium rare. Karen went for another favourite - lamb rack. Presentation of the meals was 'A' grade. A great experience. Worked out at about $180 for both of us, including the wine. A really good dining experience. We'll be back!

Recently tried their 6-course Asian-inspired tasting menu, which had some hits and some misses…read more The first course was a chilled apple and avocado soup with oysters, and it was my least favorite. The oysters were very nice, but the balance of flavors in the soup wasn't right. It was too sweet. It worked okay with the oyster, but there was a heaping portion of soup served with only two bites of oyster. That left a lot of soup to eat on its own, and with nothing to balance out the sweetness it wasn't really that pleasant. The positives were the duck, which was nicely seasoned, had incredibly crispy skin, and was cooked perfectly and paired with a very good sauce. That was the best dish of the set. And the minted watermelon granita was well-balanced and refreshing. The sashimi plate included some local-caught snapper, which was excellent. The salmon and the ahi served alongside it were both average at best, however. And I would have appreciated having a bit more wasabi to accompany the fish. The salmon rose was not well presented, and seemed like it couldn't decide if it wanted to be cooked or raw. The outer half of the salmon was cooked, and the inner half was raw. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not, though based on the flavors I'd have preferred to have the entire thing be raw. The sauce that accompanied it seemed a bit flat at first, but tended to grow on me as I ate more of it. An okay dish, but not a great one. And the frozen souffle for dessert was enjoyable, but not particularly notable. I honestly couldn't say if it was really a frozen souffle or just homemade raspberry ice-cream. Whichever it was, it was pleasant to eat and paired nicely with the chocolate and coconut on top. The biggest problem with this dish was that the chocolate sauce seems to have been frozen with the souffle/ice cream, so it was more like a hard lump of chocolate than a sauce. I'd suggest adding the chocolate sauce immediately before serving so that it stays...sauce-like. Overall it was an okay meal, but not a terribly impressive one. There's room for improvement, particularly in comparison to other local restaurants that offer multi-course Asian-inspired menus, such as Cherry Blossom Tree (Mooloolaba) and Wasabi.
