I read great reviews for pizza house food. I wanted an eggplant parm grinder. I called to order it(with extra sauce). I was given the number 14. I headed in that direction fully expecting to eat it there. When i got there i found all of the tables and chairs piled up! I paid for it and left. I was quite disappointed not to be able to eat it there. I sat in my newly detailed car to eat the grinder. It was absolutely delicious( but messy to eat in the car). The food is 5 star, not being able to eat it there was not a 5 star. Why not have it self-service but allow patrons to eat at one of the tables????? read more

What has impressed me each time is the cleanliness of this place. The closing staff has this place completely cleaned,sanitized and squared away at closing time. The price was right and the pizza was delicious on our first visit, but when we returned the next week and tried the lasagne we were very disappointed. I like my lasagne with neat layers of pasta and just a bit of sauce, but theirs was watery and sloppy. And it simply didn't taste good! Another disappointment was the ambiance. I don't need fancy, but I do appreciate it when the tables are cleared when people leave. Either ask the patrons to clear, or have staff assigned to clear. I've gotten large orders from this Pizza House location for parent student meetings and special class occasions. The order is always right and the pizza is hot! The crusts are crispy and have good flavor without too much salt, cheese is just browned enough for that great melted texture without being stringy. Excellent Greek pizzeria with authentic crispy-edged crust and superior sauce with just a little heat to it. Homemade meatballs, good pasta, and really good toasted subs. You will not be impressed by the atmosphere of this place. In fax, I'd probably suggest you get a pizza to go. Here's the thing. This place serves tasty, Greek-style pizza at a great price and they're very big. That's big, tasty, and cheap. In other words, awesome. Greek style pizza, to my understanding, has thicker dough. It's almost an inch thick in some places - and definitely the crispy, crunchy crust. Their ingredients are just right. I recommend the special (with onions, peppers, olives, pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms) because its range of flavor is just right. This pizza is just right. The range of drink selection is weak. I don't think I've ever tried the other items on the menu - only the pizza. The service is Pittsfield. Not especially friendly unless they know you or you're especially friendly. You can get a large special (good for two big dudes or four small people) for some 16 bucks. Do it. read more

After growing up in Pittsfield's morning side neighborhood I was spoiled on what good tasting Pizza was thanks to the Tyler St. Pizza House. This place has the best pie in the world. The onions and peppers are sliced into thin large circles and the pieces of pie are square with 4 triangles per pizza. The place is busy and seems popular. The staff was pleasant and efficient. But, the pizza was fair at best. The crust was not thick not thin and very bready. The sauce had little taste. Overall the our pizza with onions, mushrooms and olives tasted very salty. The Greek salad dressing was delivered in a plastic container in which it had obviously been stored in the refrigerator, It was a gelatinous lump with some vinegar like material layered beneath it...awful. Typical pizza house decor, service is good but forgettable. The food is the best, i have had several things off the menu and everything is good. If you like pizza this is the place, large is actually large and the toppings don't taste like they were taken out of the freezer like some other places. Nice place with average quality food. Very busy though- we waited 30 minutes for a 10" pizza and side salad on a Friday. It seems that they cater more towards their take-out side as 10 or so orders went out to customers picking up versus 1 or 2 that came out to in-house customers. I've visited once, see that key word (once). The key thing that separated a pizza resturant from an Italian resturant is the menu a pizza place does pizza and everything falls short after that on the menu, and vice versa the ambiance of the place is a mixture of third generation appliances and mid 70s Italian restaurant.
