Constantly understaffed for such a busy store, always queuing out of the door and the food is almost always rubbish!

The tables are often covered in litter and half eaten meals and even when the tables are tidy there are often sticky and covered in undetectable substances which make my skin crawl. Another thing that I dislike about this KFC is that it seems to attract allot of unfriendly people and well putting it in its simplest terms "Charvs" that are highly disruptive and loud. I know this is not the staffs fault but it makes the grubby, run down place even more horrendous. Especially when a mother walks in with fifteen kids who were not well behaved and ill mannered. I have even walked out due to such an incidence where a mother could not control her children who were in the process of throwing food at one another. The staff are terrible and more often than not do not fully understand what you are ordering making it impossible to complain if anything is wrong with your meal. They also seem to stand idly by while the place gets worse and worse with no member of staff willing to tidy away what people have left on the table even though they will be paid to do so. I cannot however fault the food itself as KFC has always produced excellent chicken.

Also at this particular branch the tables and general restaurant itself are filthy, with left-over food all over the tables and floor. This is very off putting and I have stopped going to this branch.

This branch of KFC is located in Gateshead's Metrocentre and was probably the first shop I saw as I…read morewent into the shopping centre as this is close to the entrance which connects the Metrocentre Interchange and the Metrocentre its-self. The store is a tad small in terms of seating, so when it gets busy it might be hard to find a seat, luckily it wasn't busy on my visit as it seems the queuing system would also struggle, due to the size of the tills, albeit this is slightly balanced due to the location of another KFC branch with the rest of the fast-food outlets elsewhere in the Metrocentre, as I recall the only other KFC nearby is about a 15 minute car ride away in Newcastle city centre, which opened after a long absence in the city around two years ago as I recall. The person who served me seemed polite, he also offered me a dip, which normally I struggle to explain to the staff at my local and toxic Middleton branch in my hometown of Manchester, I also struggled to get a response from him when I asked about a digital loyalty card being combined with a physical one, as I also like to keep a physical copy of my loyalty cards, for example, if my friend goes to get it for me, or in the likely event (which always happens) where for some reason the scanner can't recognise the QR code on my phone, which gets highly frustrating. Having just eaten at Mod (which I went on to regret), I did not eat here, also I couldn't due to my dietary requirements which meant I could probably only have a plate of dust, with most items here all having gluten in unless I wanted a plate of dips perhaps with nothing to dip in. The location is good, and the service was okay/mixed, the overall amount of seating and space was a little poor and so was the selection for coeliacs which is a nationwide issue at KFC, owned by YUM! in the UK, who also operates Pizza Hut. I feel for location and some factors with reasonable service this place just scrapes a two star rating.

High turn over does tend to mean that your food is hot, but also means you have to wait. Staff always seem grumpy, which is probably understandable given their working conditions.

Pretty much, this place gets the three stars because it is cheap and fast. A bit of wisdom from my…read morebrother goes something like this: a) Cheap b) Fast c) Good Pick two. Certainly, this restaurant was cheap and fast, and was lacking a bit in the "good" category. I visited Mamma Mia on a Saturday night. Starting at 5:30 PM on Saturdays (and the other days of the week) and lasting until 7 PM is the pizza/pasta/risotto/omelet happy hour. Every pizza/pasta/risotto/omelet on the menu is £4.10. Add a cup of tea, and you have a meal for under £5, which is exactly what I did. The pepperoni pizza was quite good. With ham and pepperoni, it tasted quite different from other pepperoni pizzas I've had. The ham was the predominant flavor, but it was good. Unlike pizzas in the States, the pizza was oval-shaped and quite spicy. The red hot peppers seed that are next to the parmesan cheese is optional in American Pizzerias--but here it came on straight from the kitchen. The crust was buttery, with a very similar taste to Pillsbury roll out crusts, but the consistency was much closer to a NY style pizza than a roll out. They serve more expensive things here too, like steaks and seafood. There are wines and beer as well. The location of the restaurant is a little precarious. Pudding Chare is a glorified ally off of Groat Market. Here's a tip, if you can't find something you want there or it's too crowded, there are three/four other Italian restaurants within a one-minute walk. The interior had a nice feel to it. Not overly fancy, but a nice casual dining establishment. The dining room is very cramped (pictures on their website show the dining room). So, you may want to call ahead during the summer months. If you are looking for a place to eat, Mamma Mia has a decent Italian cuisine at a reasonable price.

Ooft I thought I was in heaven when I found this place!…read more It's a normal Italian restaurant, but they specialise in vegan food. This is very unusual - usually in Italian places you can get a salad and maybe a risotto if it's not already been pre-prepared with butter and cream, and that's your lot, so I can't tell you how happy I was to be here. They have a seperate 'green' menu which is all vegan - even the name of it is a nice touch. It's comprehensive too - the night we visited, there was a choice of 5 starters, 4 mains, and 3 desserts. They are also happy to try to customise anything you fancy from the main menu - which also means that everything is being freshly prepared, and not pre-prepared like you get in a lot of Italian chain restaurants nowadays. For starter, I had creamy mushroom and walnut pate with toasted rustic bread and cranberry sauce. It freaked me out a bit for the first mouthful as it tasted very much like real pate! But I quickly got my head round the the fact that this wasn't meat and was just amazingly delicious and really enjoyed it. I'm pretty sure you could give this to anyone and they wouldn't realise it wasn't meat based. It was that good. For main I had the Italiano Pizza - thin and crispy with napoli sauce, marinated artichoke, caramelised red onions and fresh rocket. Oh man, this pizza! This was an amazing pizza! I have no idea what the chef puts in the base, but it was outstandingly tasty. They've found a really good vegan cheese too. And they were so considerate throughout. When the waitress brought my starter she pointed out that the butter was OK for me. This is very reassuring as even in vegetarian places, sometimes they'll put down dairy butter when you've already said that you're vegan. And for the pizza, she brought over some sort of parmesany type vegan cheese. They also have vegan wine! The lovely woman who was running the place that night gave us a taster of the red and it was really good. I have no idea what my omni partner ate - I was too focussed on my awesome food. We shared a sticky toffee pudding for desert as we were both properly full. This is the one area that maybe needs a wee bit more perfecting - it tasted a bit too much of bicarbonate of soda - you know that bitter taste, and we didn't finish it. Vegan desserts are notoriously difficult to master, but the chef here seems to really be making a huge effort so I'm sure he'll get there with the desserts. I've heard that the chocolate brownie is really good, so I'd probably have that next time. The ice cream was good too. I loved this place. It's not super posh or classy, it's down to earth, the staff are really friendly and helpful, the food is great food, and the chef should be awarded with some sort of 'services to vegan' medal. Keep it up Mamma Mia!
