This is near his home and he had heard good things about it. It is tucked away in a neighborhood and situated in what looked to have been a former residence. We were seated right away because of having reservations. It was quite busy for a Monday night, partially due to a work celebration that involved quite a few people. They occupied quite a bit of the moderate-sized dining area. Nonetheless, the atmosphere was conducive to a nice meal. The service was likewise terrific as our wait person attended to us quickly. The team did a great job all night. The highlight was the menu. The creativity and combinations were nothing like what I've found at any other restaurant in the past. There were European options and Japanese options, all of which sounded extraordinarily tempting. For starters, there was a small charcuterie board with bread, crostinis, salami and tomato chutney already on the table. The chutney was excellent. We augmented the starter repertoire with calamari that was also extremely well done. My colleague and I both chose the Gyoza dinner for our mains. This came with 12 pieces accompanied by a salad and rice. It was outstanding. I also must compliment their wine selection, as the Malbec they offered was one of the best I've had in some time. The prices were not inexpensive, but yet were commensurate with the quality of the fare. With all included, our final bill was €129 for the two of us, which was about $143 with the exchange rate at the time. At $71.50 per person, it was not cheap, but was also well worth the quality of the fare. Overall, I was quite happy with my experience at this restaurant. The menu is small yet well-curated with something for every palate - seafood, meat, chicken, etc. After ordering mocktails, Vincent surprised us with a taste of vegetable soup (shockingly savory!) followed by our escargot starter. My partner + I love escargot and Vincent's was no exception. We were off to a great start! For entrees we ordered the Dover sole and duck. The sole included a simple, delicious butter lettuce salad with seasoned roasted potatoes, and the duck included potato croquettes and a warm cabbage + pancetta salad (which I was particularly happy to gobble down for lunch the next day!). All items were perfectly prepared, well seasoned, and truly delicious! Afterward my partner + I shared a pear dessert which was essentially a baked (or maybe steamed?) whole pear dipped in chocolate and topped with vanilla ice cream and whipped topping. I got the steak with peppersauce, which was cooked perfectly, and cost 21.5 euro; my girlfriend got the salmon with veggies at a cost of 20 euro. The menu has English subscript. The food comes with a small appetizer of fish spread and olives, and the main courses come with an order of french fries. So worth the recommendation! I have a shellfish allergy, and since the country is known for its mussels I was a little nervous but they took care to tell me what was in the sauces with the dishes. As an aside, you pay at the bar. Also: tipping is not expected in Belgium. Enjoy!

As one of Kortrijk's newer restaurants, it already has a loyal following with customers lined outside the door some evenings! Perhaps it's the free beer provided for those who remain in the queue, but I tend to think it's the exceptional food and service that keep customers returning to M. (Reservations are available on their website!) The chef is Brazilian/Italian, trained in Miami. His wife, also from Brazil, oversees service along with their 3 daughters. It is truly a family operated small business. They are all wonderfully kind and were willing to answer our many questions about the menu (currently printed in Dutch, but available online in English) and all the delicious foods we were eating. For starters, our party of 3 shared the brie, which is baked in phyllo dough and served with regional fruit, slivered almonds, and drizzled honey on top. Absolutely superb! We wrestled with entrees because absolutely everything on the menu sounded wonderful, but we all opted for burgers after seeing a few being served to other tables. So glad we did because they really hit the spot. Their burgers are far from basic, with unique flavors and sauces that I hadn't enjoyed elsewhere. And desert? Mm. I had the molten lava cake, which is my personal fav. If you're a lava cake connoisseur like myself, you know that it is very easy to overcook lava cake. Rest assured, M's molten cake is cooked to perfection! Absolutely delicious Belgian "lava" flows with every single bite. I am obsessed.
