A large pizza half loaded and half pesto primavera.

Love this place. We eat pizza here whenever we are in town. This time we got a large and did half and half. Half of the pesto primavera and the other half of the large the loaded. So delicious, very generous with the toppings beautifully presented as always. This place never disappoints. And the staff is so friendly the restaurants and restrooms are very clean. We highly recommend the pizza shack.

This was real good pie.

Had lunch here today with family. Everyone ordered 1/2 sandwiches except me...the black sheep. Heck, it was my first time here and it's a pizza joint...duh, order a pizza. Of course the 1/2 sandos didn't fill up my cuz or the parents, they finished up my pizza! Real good pie, It was loaded and real nice staff.

$48 for 2 small pizzas and a large salad... to go... yikes!... need I say more?... Nothing stellar or earth shattering about the pizzas, had quite better crust and topping combinations elsewhere for much, much less... But, it is SYV and your choices are limited.... but still...

Game two of The World Series finds me heading to Chumash Casino to emcee The Wheel of Winners. Last week, while eating some Chumash pizza (which is exceptional by the way), one of the casino guests asked me how "it was"... I said "great". He said Have you tried "Pizza Shack"? I said "nope, where's that"? Turns out it's across the street from the casino. So, I popped in on my may to work, I ordered up a personal cheese pizza and an apple & Gorgonzola salad. The salad is fresh, cold, crisp, and delicious. The honey vinaigrette dressing is on point and I like that they serve it on the side. The Granny Smith apples are paper thin and perfect. The walnuts are a bit sweet at first but plentiful and they offset the saltiness of the gorgonzola cheese perfectly. My only critique on the salad is; the plate is a bit small. The portion is perfect but it's tricky eating this salad without spilling goodness off of the plate. Other than that, perfect! As for the pizza, I should point out that I'm a grown man but very often, especially at a new place, I like to try a simple cheese pizza. In fact, all pizzerias can be judged very easily by their most simple dishes. This pizza is good. The crust is very unique. One slice down and I'm trying to decide what my opinion of it is. It's kinda "bready"... not "doughy" but kinda flat like a pita. It's not bad really. The flavor is good and the edges are crispy. I have most definitely had worse. If fact a different sized pie may be come out better. This is a personal pizza and it's on a plate and, without breathing like it would in a pizza pan, it has steamed itself and taken the crispness away from the bottom of the pie. Still though very good. I'll be back!

Primavera pizza, in medium. Delish!! (Delivery on 4/1/14)

The pizza was very good. Our service was very nice and it was not very crowded when we went for a late lunch. Cool decor!

We walked in early, asked to sit at the bar, and our reservation was honored. The restaurant was bustling but service did not feel rushed or hurried. We were lucky to dine at the bar; Mr. Maciel took truly excellent care of us the whole evening, remembering every request and taking care of every detail for our dining experience. His wine recommendations were also spot on. We decided to focus on three different pastas and were not disappointed. Highly recommended. My absolute favorite was the Wild Mushroom Pappardelle but honestly, every pasta was delicious. Portions were generous and leftovers were promptly boxed up to take home. Folks clearly schedule special dinners here, warranting dressing up, but casual diners such as ourselves also felt comfortable. I'd recommend dining at the bar for exceptional service and a front-line seat to all the action.

Elite Yelper Isobel L. and I ate at the bar to view the hard working staff in the kitchen and at the bar. Our barman, Mr. Maciel, was really informative and helpful in choosing the right wine to pair by the glass and making sure we were supplied with appropriate dining accoutrements along the way. He even let me sample two alternate wines for me to determine which pairing may be optimal. Perusing the menu, the pasta at S.Y. seemed the most intriguing so I asked that each pasta dish come out one at a time to be paired with the previously discussed wines. 1) SPAGHETTI con VONGOLE E BOTTARGA: Spaghetti was perfectly al dente. Shells of Manila clams were wide open presenting their briny, meatiness. Bottarga seemed like dried mullet roe to add a mild sea funkiness. Roasted fennel for an aromatic licorice finish. Soupçon of Calabrian chiles. All in a light white wine reduction. 1a) Vermentino | Podere San Cristoforo Maremma "Luminoso" 2021: Lively white wine with refreshing citrus and fennel undertone. Good acidity and minerality to cleanse the palate. 2) WILD MUSHROOM PAPPARDELLE: Wide flat, firm wheat pasta. Fresh woodsy, wild mushrooms, thyme, Parmigiano Reggiano. Seems napped with a touch of butter or evoo. 2a) Pinot Noir, Altamarea, Santa Barbara County, 2023: Subdued damask rose and strawberry bouquet. Sparkling garnet red wine as mentioned by Elite Yelper Isobel L. Fruit forward, lush black fruits, mellow acidity & tannins melded well with the creaminess of this pasta dish. Good call by Bartender Maciel. 3) Gigli al Ropeton: Salsiccia, Pancetta, Mascarpone, Pecorino, Pomodoro, Basilico: Mascarpone added creaminess while Pecorino had a right amount of gamey dairy all to create an overriding cheesiness. House made crumbly pellets of Salsiccia Italiana and Pancetta added porkiness. Sugo di Pomodoro has a sweet tomato sauce acidity that unified this hearty dish. 3a) Nebbiolo, Poderi Colla, Alba "Drago" 2023: Good solid red wine from Piedmonte. Heavier dark fruits such as black berry. Light acidity and tannins. 4) TAHITIAN VANILLA PANNA COTTA: Refreshing, light, creamy, vanilla pudding. Caramel, ladies' kisses cookie crumbles and scattering of blueberries and raspberries, sprig of spearmint. 5) PISTACHIO CRÈME BRÛLÉE: 100% Sicilian pistachio inside the thick, dense Crème Caramel filling, which seems similar to Leche Asado, with glazed sugar top coating. 4+ Stars

Celebrating our nation's 250th birthday in beautiful Solvang!…read more We ate at Craft House four times during our visit--and for good reason! It is, in our opinion, the best restaurant in Solvang. Every meal was exceptional, and the service was consistently outstanding. From the moment we walked in, Daniel welcomed us with a warm smile that made us feel right at home. At our first breakfast, Taylor provided friendly, attentive service that set the tone for the rest of our visits. That evening, we enjoyed the cauliflower appetizer, beet & burrata salad, short rib grilled cheese and black tie burger. Every dish was absolutely delicious. On our second breakfast visit, Sandra took wonderful care of us. She is such an asset to Craft House--knowledgeable, personable, and genuinely welcoming. Sophia, who brought out our food several times, always greeted us with the biggest smile. You can tell she truly loves what she does. Lorenzo and Nora were also fantastic servers who helped make every visit memorable. Over four visits, we sampled several different entrées and breakfasts. The avocado toast and chorizo quesadilla were definite standouts, and every meal exceeded our expectations. A heartfelt thank you to the entire Craft House team for your incredible hospitality, exceptional service, and outstanding food. We can't wait to return!

The restaurant decor is nice, though nothing special, with a sizeable patio for outdoor dining. We started with a couple of local wines by the glass. The wine list here is heavily biased towards local wines as one would expect from a wine country restaurant. Kudos for the local focus! The menu here is wine country, farm-to-table and the restaurant even has their own organic farm a short distance away where they source ingredients. For dinner we started with the beet salad special served over a citrus yogurt. For main courses we had the grilled rack of lamb and a quinoa bowl with salmon. Every dish was expertly prepared and delicious. The fruits and veggies were exceptionally fresh being sourced directly. David was our server and coincidentally was our server at a wine tasting earlier in the day. His service and that from the supporting team were professional and friendly. I give this restaurant my highest recommendation!

The positive first: walking in everybody was super friendly and greeted us with a smile, and sat us down right away on the patio since we had our dog with us. We ordered the baked brie appetizer and two glasses of red wine. My husband had the Austin Hope Cab and I had a red blend. I don't remember the brand name. It was a little bit expensive for a glass of wine. I wanna say around $25 but we both were in the mood for a good wine and wanted to treat ourselves. The baked Brie was delicious. Negative: the fish and chips and the service. I was so excited to see fish and chips on the menu because it was halibut. I'm used to cod in fish and chips so of course I had to order since I am a huge halibut lover. The table next to us also said what an amazing meal that was and ordered one to go. We received our fish and chips from not our server and the person dropped the meal and left without asking us if we needed anything. My husband and I looked at the fish and chips and immediately started laughing. It looked like little fish nuggets as opposed to fish! I kind of thought we were being punked. We waited and waited for the server to come by or a manager or some thing and could not get anybody to come talk to us. It took 14 minutes for her to finally come tap on our table and ask if everything was OK. We told her it was not OK and to look at the size of the fish and she said she would go tell the kitchen and asked if we wanted to remake it. At that point, we weren't even hungry anymore. We were just kind of annoyed at the entire situation. She comes back out a few minutes later and says we're going to take it off of your bill. We don't see her for a while and then the manager comes over and says we took it off of your bill. He didn't ask if there's any way to make it right he just said OK anyways and walked away at the end. Being in the restaurant industry for many years, I thought this was pretty offensive. If I were him, I probably would have made another one right away or offered something they are known for like their pizza. So overall, I wouldn't be back. I think there's many other restaurants around there and to be treated like that after how we were served....no thank you!
