After ordered our pizzas came out within about 5 minutes. And yowzer they were giant, a serious amount of overhang from the already sizeable plates. Speedy yes, but hare-tortoise / speed-haste clichés aside, these pizzas were lacking.
For me the crucial element of a pizza is the base, the all important canvas on which to paint some ludicrously delicious Italian masterpiece. These were insipid. Granted they were massive, like a piece of patio furniture or a roundabout, but the base was floppy and the crusts were definitely on the wrong side of brûlée. Toppings: I can't precisely remember the combinations but maybe that's the point, they lacked any memorable qualities. I definitely had fresh tomatoes and spinach on mine, the former being tasteless sludgy specimens rather than plump Pomodoros that I'd expected, and the latter was lukewarm and came in lumped mounds. My friend's was too salty rather than flavourful. There was no punch and it just felt pretty textureless and tasteless in the mouth.
I cannot fault the waiting staff who were really friendly and accommodating for my botched attempts at the French language. The menu however is quite silly, with a blinding array of options and choices, my eyes glazing over after a while. I would have liked to try the desserts but the SNCF waits for no one. Maybe a well made classic dessert could have salvaged this quantity over quality Neapolitan meh-fest.
