Friendly, small place in a strip mall. Very loud, but like I said it's a small place. Pizza was really good. Garlic knots came with a giant side of marinara. We also ordered chicken alfredo, it was the least favorite. I wouldn't order it again. Definitely stick with the pizza though, so good! Consistently great food! My BF has Celiac and this is his favorite spot for pizza. We drive about an hour each way every time we come out to Anna Maria and it's so worth it! They actually have two sizes of their GF pizzas, a 10" and 14", which is very rare. It's a little expensive but definitely worth having a bigger GF pizza. The service is always great. Very friendly and welcoming. Ambiance is that of your local pizzeria. Always people coming in and out, they stay busy. Definitely a must visit when coming to Anna Maria. read more

This restaurant is located in a strip mall near a busy intersection on Holmes Beach. We ordered a large pizza for dinner and had it delivered to our door. We considered eating inside but decided it was too crowded and noisy. We got a regular crust, large pizza ($16) 1/2 veggie and 1/2 sausage, green pepper and onions. Delivery was $7 so with tax and tip it came to $30. It's hard to rate pizza because everyone's taste is different but overall I would rate their pizza good, but not great. The crust was OK, the sauce and cheese were fine but toppings were chopped very small and I prefer my toppings in larger pieces, but that's me. The pizza was delivered at the time we requested. Besides pizza, their menu offers a wide variety of pasta dishes, salads and grinders so it's more than just a pizza place. I may try one of their other offerings but I wouldn't order another pizza. Ordered Pizzano's for our first night on the island. Placed an online order and the food was almost ready when we got there. It is a smaller restaurant with picnic table seating, but we got our pizzas to go. The pizza was really good. Garlic parm wings..these weer very good Margarita pizza ...it seems like the margarita part was in the middle of the pizza and not throughout, which made the pizza heavy towards the front. The pizza is genuine NYC PIZZA with specialties of Detroit style pizzas and a variety of others. Going to NYC a few times a year this pizza tracks well with the style pizza you'd get there it's a blend of the beach and NYC. For a "beach" Italian restaurant, this place excels - with great service, great food, and decent prices (it IS the beach, after all). My favorite: the WINGS and their wonderful GREEK SALAD (yummy dressing). The pizza is super as well but I just like wings more. Their website says OPEN SUNDAY but they (said the guy I spoke with on Saturday before) were closed on SUPERBOWL SUNDAY! Ack! Missing mucho dinero in income, I figure. We ordered a Hawaiian and it came with pepperoni instead of Canadian bacon. It was still good, but they should tell people that they make their Hawaiian differently. We go to AMI every year and this is the first time we've tried Pizzanos. It's one of the only places that is open late and that comes in handy! We ended up ordered a few pies and some of their garlic knots. We took it to go but picked it up so we got to see the inside. Very small spot with a few tables. They share it with the spot next door but with 4-6 tables inside and a couple more outside there's room to eat inside if you want to. We walked up and they told us it would be just a few more minutes and they said we could just take a seat and wait. We looked around for a minute and saw some unique chips, a TON of different sodas and the window full of garlic knots, that looked AMAZING! Took the food back to the house. We got a cheese pie, pepperoni Detroit pie and a chicken cordon bleu pie on top of the knots. The garlic knots were pretty disappointing. In a picture, they look UNREAL. But they just didn't have any flavor to them. I expected to be blown away, but wouldn't order them again. The cheese pie was solid. Nothing that would knock you off your feet, but overall, the kids were happy with it. The chicken cordon bleu pie was another pie that wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. Ingredients spread out well on the pie and the unique flavor was there, but overall too much honey mustard. The Detroit style pie was the best pie by far. Crispy salty pepperonis, sauce was perfect, crispy crust and square cut. I would get this one again for sure. There are a few other spots on the island i need to try, but i wouldn't mind grabbing Pizzanos again if it was late. read more

Very good Italian spot. We ordered 2 pizzas and wings, antipasto salad, and the Alfredo. It was all really good, the Alfredo is more of a "bake" and very cheesy, not a typical "fettuccine Alfredo" as you would expect. The pizza was good and the wings were also good. I went in today and got a slice. The counter person was nice and the slices in the display cabinet looked good. After I paid, the slice was delivered to me at the outside table I where I was sitting. The toppings were dark brown and the crust was charred. The server did not ask if it was ok or check back with me. Just went for lunch with my helper about an hour ago and was greeted by a fella who thought he'd greet me with a lesbian joke and well as a Lorena Bobbitt joke. I should of left then. First time there and you only get one chance to make a 1st impression. So my helper and I put in our order and waited the normal amount of time. Pizza looked good and began to eat the pizza and was pretty tasty until I started chewing on a piece of aluminum foil and when you have a partial in your mouth it REALLY let me know quickly. I took it back up to the same fella and showed him the foil and was asked if I wanted a new slice in which I said yes, but should of ask for a refund. We couldn't have made a better choice. We got 2 speciality pizzas and we were shocked at how delicious they were for the value of the price. I really wanted to like this place. Not sure where the rave reviews are coming from but this was disappointing. Overall good flavor but literally no crisp to the crust, it truly reminds me of the Sam's club/ Costco $1.50 slice and theirs includes a Coke. I now understand why they insisted I have a fork/knife with this pizza. Maybe their dough lacking any crisp is purposeful but just not my preference. They get an extra because of their super friendliness and exceptional service, if nothing else I'd maybe return for someone who doesn't like a crisp dough. I am sure they take great pride in making their pizza but the ingredients are sub par. Frozen pizza crust, cheap toppings and not fresh cheese. Honestly it tasted like dominos only double the price. I have no idea how they have 4 star reviews. I'm being gracious with 2. Baked ziti had both ziti and corkscrew pasta which is just gross because it speaks to sloppiness in the kitchen. Cheese pizza was burnt. Chicken Parmesan was frozen chicken breast, mealy breading, and dry pasta (in fact both pastas we got were dry and sticky. Mozzarella sticks were burnt on one side, cheese was hard and not melty. Cannolis weren't fresh and my daughter said the filling tasted like blue cheese. Just gross. Two stars because the meatballs were good and they open late. $122 and I tossed probably $100 of it directly in the trash. Ugh. read more

Been here several times. Probably best pizza on the island. This is not the typical New York style....which I am sick of IMO. Flavorful crust, generous toppings, and the veggies are NOT so overcooked it comes out gross. Salads are huge as well. Easily a meal, or share with 4 people as a side.
