    Antica Pizzeria D’e’ Figliole 01/17/2020
    Michael U.

Since 1860 Antica Pizzeria D'e' Figliole has been making an art of Fried Pizza, each one filled to order and sealed before carefully being turned in hot Oil to develop a beautiful golden Crust and molten interior that eats almost impossibly light considering the bounty of Cheese, Meat and Vegetables. Reportedly the first purveyor of Pizza Fritta, a man named Gennaro opening the original space that has since moved twice as a result of war, it is currently at Via Giudecca Vecchia 36 that guests will find a 40-seat Restaurant that opens at 11h00 Tuesday through Saturday, early arrival assuring fast seating without the typical queue found from an hour later through closing. Unfussy and mostly unadorned, entry finding a man and woman behind a simple counter with the fryer off to one side, guests are invited to peruse Antica Pizzeria D'e' Figliole's list of Ingredients before making a selection, the cost of just €6 an undeniable bargain for something that will fully sate all but the most robust appetite. Offering only Pizza Fritta, a dish reportedly invented out of necessity during hard times, Antica Pizzeria D'e' Figliole's version is different from most of the Montanara one finds in Napoli and more like Calzone, but thanks to the care paid during cooking both the specimen with Sausage and Rabe as well as Tomatoes with Beef cooked up beautifully with an crisp and oilless consistency from Crust to core.

Of all the places we could have eaten lunch at in Naples, the family decided on McDonald's…read more I regret the missed opportunity to have pizza in this city known as the birth place of pizza, but McDonald's was convenient for the kids in our party as we walked through this iconic shopping center. Europe gives you 1-2 thin napkins per meal ordered. Not really practical if your meal contains a saucy burger. Don't expect napkin dispensers out in the open where you grab as much as you want. It doesn't work that way here. As a traveler, remember to always carry tissue/napkins. Also, if you're from the U.S., don't expect free refills on soda. That's not customary here either. This location does have a restroom but you must enter a code to access it, so don't toss your receipt. The code is on the receipt. Very busy location. Lots of tourists. Order via kiosk. Your order number will be displayed overhead when it's ready and it will also be called out by the clerk in both Italian and English.

It's an average McDonald's, but ordering is only by kiosk. There are no cashiers to take orders…read more However, for some reason this doesn't make things faster. It still seemed to be a long wait for my double cheeseburger.
