Perfect place if you like a good Italian Pizza in the region. I come there every time while I visit the region and we are always welcomed with smiles on the faces! Great first impression!Most of the workers are family and its a great Atmosphere there. Prices are reasonable and the wine list is ok. Mostly I eat Antipasti which is made fresh. Since I left GK a while ago I haven't been to Il Genio for more than a year when I stopped by a few weeks ago. And, now, I know what I missed so much. The family recognized my right away. Besides a warm welcome back they proudly demonstrated all their new achievements. Back to the important stuff: Whatever pizza or pasta you chose you can't go wrong. The pizza is huge, juicy with tons of fresh toppings, always well seasoned for your satisfaction. Most of my former Italian coworkers will agree when I say that you will be served the world best Pizza here. For me Il Genio's pizza is the only reason for taking a trip back to GK. What you should know: First of all: this is not Domino's, Little Cesar's, Olive Garden or whatsoever. Don't get me wrong! I absolutely love American pizza (except for Pizza Hut;))! But, this is an Italian pizza place. Second: This is neither a fancy, romantic restaurant nor some hipster place. Most people order Take Away. The restaurant area is small and, typical Italian, somewhat noisy. But, the stuff is very friendly and hearty. read more

This place has the best pizza crust I have tasted had outside Italy (and just as good as in Italy). I have been trying to avoid carbs, but I was compelled to just keep eating. We sat on the all-new terrace out back, which was very pleasant. My friends had some really lovely-looking baked pasta and tagliatelle (if I recall correctly). The owner speaks English very nicely, and the service was friendly and swift. I wish I lived closer by so I could come back again and again. read more

Everyone went on and on about this place when we arrived at GK. It's not the worst pizza I've ever had but it's def not the best (in Europe or the local area) maybe we went when the "b-team" was working but the pizza was soggy and gross. read more

As I figured (and was hoping), on my last visit, they must have been having an off-day. Recently, I stopped in here and ordered a large off-the-menu pizza to feed two. After a couple beers, the pizza came out. It looked great. Not only that, it was cut into slices. No standing grease or moisture on this thing. The pizzas here taste great -- definitely the best thing going in the area. The staff are accommodating and friendly as well. read more

I miss this place. My wife and I were stationed at the NATO base awhile back and visited Il Genio's often. Every time we stopped in, the owners made us feel like a million bucks. The food was even better. I ordered all over the menu and everything was delicious, and this place introduced me to Italian style pizza. When I got back to the States, I felt cheated eating American pizzas (from the chain stores anyways) because ~50% was dough or crust. Here, the pizzas were an evenly distributed meal. I hope to visit again someday. read more

My favorite restaurant in the Gangelt area! Always a wonderful atmosphere with a terrific staff. My favorite dish is the bruschetta, but everything I've eaten here has been delicious. Their house wine, a sweet red Lambrusco, is a must to try. read more
