Our final main course was a mixed seafood platter with salmon, scampi and piece of white fish (not sure which one) as well as mixed grilled veggies. It was very yummy. Everything was prepared very well. In the interim, some fried baby calamari were served. I was more than pleasantly surprised about those. See, usually I don't like calamari at all. I always find them too chewy and uninteresting. But these ones were amazing. Lightly fried, crispy, not to chewy at all and with the right amount of salt - I ended up eating a whole bunch of them cause they were so enjoyable. Everyone should order those when visiting Forno D'Oro 2! Additionally, I was very happy with the white wine that was served - Scaia (a mix of chardonnay and garganega - see my pic). It was light, crisp and just perfect for the HOT summer day we were enduring. It's been a few weeks 3 months since I enjoyed this wine and I am still dreaming about it. ;-) The service was very friendly and pretty efficient considering that they had to serve our group of 20 on top of their other customers. The sauce is light in taste with little to no hint of seasoning. I usually prefer a little more seasoning flavor to the sauce but it's good nonetheless. Olive oil was poured on top which added nice flavor, but was a little overpowering for my taste. The only real problem that I had was the location. Parking can be a little difficult to find. The locale is also on a pretty busy street and it can be loud during rush hour or when an emergency vehicle drives by (we had 4 go past during our meal). It's not a plac3 for the hoity toity, it's a place for people who love the hearty, home food. Went here during my 3 day stay in frankfurt and I would have gone back if i had had the chance. I got the pesto sauce and it was really good. The pizza was okay but I would say the pasta was better. The beer wasn't the best I had in Germany but passable. Compared to the pasta I am getting in the Midwest, I would give this a 5 but because I can't speak to the local food scene in Frankfurt (which seems pretty high quality), I can only confidently give this place a 4. Go here, you won't be disappointed.
