Yes, you read right. I'm often under the assumption that restaurants should select one type of cuisine and excel at it very well. Sinans Cafe falls into this category. Do Italian or do Asian, but doing both on an average level? Why? Mystery.
I selected the grilled chicken salad with fresh garden greens, tomato and a honey mustard dressing. It was OK, but was very soaked in dressing...making everything just a bit soggy. The portion size was great, and everything good...but even the freshest of lettuce cannot survive the onslaught of runny dressing. For the record, most dressing in Germany I've found has a much "looser" consistency than what I am used to...so I will be ordering it on the side as soon as I can figure out how to communicate this in English. The salad was...pretty good. As was the Diet Coke.
Service was a tad scattered, and the server did drop a glass near our table onto the floor. The large pieces were picked up but there was still crunchy glass all over the floor around us as we finished our meal, and then 10 minutes later...crunching all over our bags and feet. Strange.
A perfectly nice lunch spot...nice seating and good location near Goetheplatz...but for 13euros, my salad was as bit of a disappointment.
Stick with one thing you do well? Perhaps the solution. Or, I order pizza next time instead of salad. Maybe a better solution.
