This place is a kind of known hidden gen near Ottawa/Kanata. This park, which is open 24/7 365 days…read morehas a 2.5 km loop that has access to a small beach. The park offers some highlights year-round. In the summer you can walk about 200-300 m from the parking to a beach that is never crowded do some fishing/sunbathing/swimming. In autumn walk the small loop to see the change of colours but clearly, the best time is winter. In winter go to the beach and watch the wonderful ice structures, you will feel like you are in a frozen movie. On one side the frozen river seems to stretch all the way to Gatineau. people often drive on it with a snowmobile or XC skis. On the other side frozen waterfalls and ice castles for kids to play (very carefully with). The only downside is that the parking lot is closed during winter and you have to park near the side of the road. Be careful that your care doesn't slip to the ditch (happened to me once, luckily some good Canadians helped and we could go on with our hike). P.S this is a dog-friendly trail

Restaurant was closed in sunday morning for some reason, good for cyclists a small trail is nearby, cycle stands are also available, there was something there named "repair cafe" if inky someone could tell me what it was. Stuff to bring: if you want to take a dip : extra clothes, plastic bag to put wet clothes in, bring a kayak, safe for kids, no life jackets, a blanket, a flootie, swimming googles and a bright smile with you !!

We stayed in the shade, on the paths and my pup was welcome on the patio for Baja's. (Great burger and beer, BTW) It was a beautiful day and sunbathers lined the beach. Watercraft, sailboats, paragliding, paddlers. Busy but serene. I loved it. And there were many other dogs. Luck of the draw I guess if you take that chance. I'll go back and explore all of it sans pup but we loved our time here.

Make sure to go in summers only and be ready for cold water, bring volleyball or football, better if you bring friends with you or you can ask someone to play with you nobody will approach you to play. Here is the stuff you need to bring : Sport stuff (mainly ball), sunscreen, a small tent for shade, towel and a sheet, extra clothes and plastic bags to put wet clothes in, bring a flotie ( safe for kids ), not safe for dogs cause a lot of people there, cycle stands and lifeguards are available, bring water bottle the fountain dont work .

TL;DR: Large park in Alymer, Quebec that has a beach and a marina. Lots of green space and has cool…read morefitness structures throughout. Also play structures for kids. This park is huge and really awesome! There's lots of open greenspace and lots of trees, so if you want to be in the sun, you can be and if you want to be in the shade, you can be. They have fitness structures throughout the park and there's a map showing where the different stations are. So you can do circuit training if you want. At each station there are even instructions on how you can use the structures. Really cool. They had a station for push ups and pull ups, my favourite exercises, lol. They have play structures for kids too. Slides, swings, climbing structures and a mini zip line thing. There's a beach too. And public washrooms. There's also a marina. It's very picturesque by the water. I even saw some ducks. Lots of picnic tables and benches. A destination park, worth driving to get to. I like the fact that there are washrooms available (essential!) There is a lot of parking available but to be honest, it gets crowded on those good days. I guess I've been lucky, always finding a spot. Good thing, too, as I'm coming from an hour away! There's a section that is covered, with picnic tables - this area always has people in it. Our group brings our own folding chairs and sits in spots under some trees, with views of the water. With a light breeze, it is quite nice here. Also, I love the waterfall area, although it's man-made (and sometimes smells like sulphur). I'm sure we will be back.

Decades later, I met up with a friend and our dogs and walked the paths. Beautiful day to revive the memory of my dad, decades later. It's as well kept as I remembered it to be. Adored the waterfall. I'll come back here to sit and read, most likely. I remembered most, the wooden bridges to cross and all the critters on land and in the water. Geese, crayfish, minnows. I'm so glad this place is still here and thriving. Very peaceful. Heart warming.

They have 3 public tennis courts! (The nets are removed during the winter and replaced in the Spring. I'm not sure what the timings are, but I was there mid-April and the nets were not yet up). There's a soccer field, a baseball diamond, and a playground. The playground has 2 play structures, a tiny one for small kids and a larger one for bigger kids. It also has several swing sets, about 3-4 of them. This park is connected to the Ottawa River Pathway and it's not far from Britannia Beach and Park. I love Mud lake. We discovered this urban jam last year during one of our bike rides. This place is…read morejust magical all year round. In winter the lake is completely cover in ice which is perfect for ice skating, hockey or just a cool walk=. During the warmer parts of the year it is full of other type of magic. You can come here to see wildlife (birds, turtles, frogs and more). Perfect place for photography, little escape or coffee break. Not far you can find Britannia Beach, playground and ice cream shop to celebrate the end of the hike. Just one note, this is a popular spot and highly traffic.

Don't go off the marked trails it is a conservation area and you could harm important environment.
