Overall the gym has everything needed for a good workout. and the new renovations is a plus. One thing that I'd like to see is more TV channels, plus I don't understand why they keep removing CNN news. (2 channels of FOX news is a bot too much). read more

This gym is very clean. Some of the workers are welcoming but for the most part, they just talk amongst themselves or ignore members when they come in. This location was renovated but doesn't look too different. Overall, a nice place to work out if you don't care about customer service. read more

Overall clean place and great use for equipment. My issue solely lies within the employee I interacted with. Previously, a worker (who was very helpful and nice) helped by showing us to make an appointment for Black Card members for services so we had done it ourselves considering the staff is usually not in the front and sometimes takes a while to arrive. At least all the times I've gone they're not usually up front which is fine but that's not the issue. The staff working mentioned that a guest can't use the area, okay cool but instead of mentioning they can trial it once he firsts mentions that it just can't be used. Saying he can't approve it until he clicks it but if someone checked in for the appointment you'd think they'd have the courtesy to check them in considering they clearly have better things to do because once again they're not even at the front most the time. But they should've led with the one time use but whatever we just left and they will definitely not be getting that monthly/annual payment from ANOTHER person. PSA workers you should be better informants to the ones that pay for you to be working there. read more

As someone who likes to go heavy, Planet Fitness is not for me. The gym has mostly treadmills and other cardio related machines. As for lifting, they have some Smith machines and some dumbbells. If you are someone who has just started their fitness journey, PF might be a good starting point since the equipment is pretty much hand holding. I am kinda interested in how to make the equipment and make the most use out of them. As for the staff, I saw them mostly at the front desk and cleaning machines. Wish they were on the floor to help with form (saw someone with bad form). read more

his location has an unprofessional setting. They somehow screwed up my account and wouldn't activate account unless they charged a late fee, which I was not going to pay because it was not my fault. The so-called 'General Manager', Emma, was no help. Her only solution was for me to go in person with a copy of checking, but I work 15 hours a day and have no time going in, so I had asked her if we can do this over the phone. Her response was 'there's nothing I can do'. I had asked her to cancel my membership and all she can say was that I have to go in person to cancel. The lack of professionalism in the place is ridiculous. Also, the fact that the only way one can cancel their account is by going in person, is also ridiculous. read more

Tonight as I was exiting the gym one of the staff member's was holding the door open so I walked through it as I was already out of the building , female staff member says your not going to say excuse me with and attitude and was rude her demeanor and approach was aggressive and out of confusion I replied I thought you was holding the door open , she said she wasnt holding the door open and said I almost made physical contact as I walked through the door she was holding open . I didn't touch her at all , and one of the gym members had to add her two scents. So now we have staff and other members compromising my mental health with the poor actions and behavior.I questioned her behavior and her response was I'm not allowed to go there any more . Abuse of power and poor costumer service skills , the quality of the gym and staff is beyond unacceptable , I don't even know how you guys are still open haven't been shut down yet , I have photos from how nasty and filthy and as proof of how poor of an establishment planet fitness has become , you guys are so desperate for employees you hire just about any one who could potentially be a liability to all of us . I need a response with in the next 24 hours in regards to this urgent matter , I will not give up or let it go till you guys eliminate the week links starting with the female who over stepped her boundaries and clearly made an issue out of nothing . read more

I don't understand why this location has not provided any recent updates! The machines are cheap and dirty. The black ceiling with dark purple walls make you feel like you're in a dungeon. The smell of sweat with Chinese/Indian food fill the air (due to being in between 2 restaurants). The dust on the air ducks create a heavy dark grey tint. And the unregulated music volume are the reasons why I struggle to come to this gym. It's sad that nothing has been done because I live fairly close by and I dread going to this location because it brings my mood down. :( At this point, corporate needs to step in a revamp this location...but i'm sure they won't. read more

For the Past Few weeks ive noticed a big change in the atmosphere with the new manager shes is awesome and super professional and knowledgeable and what a difference in customer service with the manager Tori is awesome and turned this place right around its super clean machines are working everything in the bathrooms are always stocked now and her presence makes the working atmosphere so much better and now i look forward to being there.. The whole predatory policy revolves around it not being worth $10 to drive or write. It's obnoxious in this day and age. I haven't used my membership in five years. I was not allowed to cancel on line. So I went in and asked for a refund. They slip in some yearly $40 charge for something. They denied a refund on my yearly one time charge. They said to look up the owner on google because I wanted to contest the charge. Lights on, nobody home deal. read more

Transferred here from another local planet fitness because I HATED the other one. This one is clean, environment is friendly, plenty of machines even when pretty busy, and the staff are amazing. I've yet to be greeted with less then a smile and enthusiastic personality from all. The ONLY complaint I have, and it seems to be the same with all of the facilities-not just this one, is the 30 minute Express workout. People coming in and using one machine (seems to be the bicep machine everytime too) who are not doing the express for a good 15 minutes causing the whole order to be messed up for who IS doing it. read more

Place has like 18283873030383 cardio machines and about 4 benches. Constantly have to wait for dumbbells and other weight training machine. Good gym if 98% of your workout is cardio and the other 2% is waiting. Never any down time here. Massage chairs didn't feel clean. read more

I live 3 minutes away from this gym and I don't even go here. Between the cheap "updated" machines, to the over crowded equipment space...it's an overall horrible experience. Please expand this location to make more room for all! Unfortunately the unwelcoming staff members don't help as well. God for bid you ask them a question because you will get the death stare with a side of heavy attitude! The Good: The staff is great at this Planet Fitness, always friendly, cheerful, and helpful. There are lots of machines and many of the popular ones are duplicated. There are a good range of dumbbells and many cool machines I've never seen anywhere else. The Bad: The Black Card area falls way short of other Planet Fitness locations. There are only two hydromassage machines and one of them barely works. The Haverhill and Methuen Black Card rooms are far superior. The Ugly: The lighting in the place is dark and dingy. You feel like you are in a cave when in the back half. A couple simple windows in the back would add some natural light and totally transform the place. So not to be too negative, it is still a good place to workout, great staff, and it has decent hours. I just wish they would update it, I heard plans to update it were postponed, which is too bad, it falls way short of what it could be, which is to be something on par with the Haverhill or Methuen PF locations. read more

I have been to many Planet Fitnesses and this one is the best by far! Andover Rocks! WIFI; massage chairs; hydro massage bed; tanning beds; even a infra red thingmajigg for Vitamin D, which is clutch in the winter... it used to be open 24/7 I would have given them five stars if they haven't changed their hours from 24/7 to 24/5 ?? What is that ?! I will Tell you: Open round the clock except Friday Saturday AND Sunday... They close at 9pm on Friday... Are open 7a- 7p on Sat and Sunday and then they reopen the doors late Sunday 12am midnight (early Monday Morning). This is consistent with all the former 24/7 Planet Fitnesses. read more

If I could Rate them 0 stars I would. I would like to warn anyone that is thinking about signing up for this location that they will try to scam you. I gave them my credit card information several times, and after each month they claimed there was a problem with my billing (which there wasn't) and tried to get me to pay an additional $50. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS. It is a common scam that this franchise uses to collect more money for people dumb enough to fall for it. Terrible business practices all around. I refused to pay when contacted over the phone and all they said is "Ok" and hung up. For 2 and a half years now they have been bugging me to pay their fake charges. I would suggest going to Yangs, Fitness Together, TITLE Boxing, the Y, or literally any other gym in the area. The low prices they advertise are a facade and it is certainly not worth your time. read more

this place lies when selling the membership, the so no "contract" is all a lie. they do charge $58 for early cancellation and they also charge an extra $39 anual fee. i called to clarify with a "manager", her name is crystal, very unprofessional, not polite all at and seems like she does not care to keep her customer there. her customer service was awful. re-retrain that individual and remind her that customers pay her salary. my called was made today june, 27, 2014, around 10:30am. read more

4 stars because no free-weight squat rack etc. it's all dumbbells and machines, and that's fine if you don't need that. I will say that this gym is kept very clean, and the prices are very reasonable. Even when the gym was packed I could find a treadmill. There are 3 smith machines and I'm usually able to get one without waiting too long, and often immediately. They have dumbbells and a circuit training room, but Indont think many people do that, and I didn't use it. And you can't beat 24 hour access. read more

I signed up about a year ago and the reason this worked out for me was because it was opened 24/7. They since have changed there hours. It currently mentions that they are opened 24/5 Monday - Friday. That isn't true because they close at 9pm on Friday which makes it 24/4. It was convenient at first because it was open late Fri, Sat, and Sun which were the days that I attended. I now need to wait til my contract is up. Seeing that I have been paying for nothing. Now, if they were open 24/7 like originally, I would have giving 5 stars because it worked with my schedule and I think that the place was just perfect for me. read more

Great gym for the price. (Remeber it's planet fitness not a gym). See if you can get the $99 for a year Sale? Planet fitness is not a gym, so don't plan on joining if your looking to lift heavy weights. The dumbbells only go up to 65 pounds and they don't have any free lifting barbells just 2 Smith machines. They are starting to hire new staff to work here because they had kids running it before or shall I say young adults that didnt care about being professional or how they looked. The worst part about this gym is it's location and I'm not talking about the shopping Plaza you can always find parking you just have to walk a bit. I'm talking in location to the next town over. You will see that this place is becoming over run by people from Lawrence that don't really care about being polite or cleaning up after themselves. As others have said, great gym for the price. Nothing fancy, but they have quite a bit of equipment. Facility well maintained, friendly staff. Recently my job opened a fitness center so decided to take advantage of that and drop my membership here. Even though I was dropping my membership, they were very helpful and made it easy to do. Very well run organization. Boston Sports Club could learn a lot from these folks (see my review on BSC for additional info). read more

Place is ok but you get what you pay for. Pluses are the price and number of machines. $10 month gets you no extras. Never had a problem getting a machine even at the busiest times. Negatives, only 3 showers in the men's locker room (not counting the handicap one with the shower head that must be hand held at all times). Also one of the TVs was out of service for more than a week and the headphone jacks on some treadmills are flaky, probably from overuse. read more

I joined this gym recently and have been there to work out a few times. Very clean gym with new equipment which all seems to work well. The staff is very friendly and the rates are incredibly cheap for membership. Better amenities that the gym I came from, which was more expensive. Tons of treadmills and ellipticals, but only a few bikes. No rowing machines, which I miss. The equipment is a little limited, but overall I'm happy that I joined. read more

If you have even the slightest interest in physical fitness this place is not for you. In fact you may even be offended. This place is a mockery of fitness and should not carry the name. I get it, you don't want 300 lb roid heads there...but to discourage hard work and grunting? That's counterproductive to fitness. Then to serve pizza, one of the worst possible food items and the last thing many of the members shoud be eating is just ridiculous. And, hey, it's a "judgement free zone" but we sound the "lunk alarm" if you wear a tank top, set the weights down any less than totally gently or grunt. Yeah, no judgement there. Can you say hypocritical? This place is a complete mockery of fitness. Nice business model. Unless you are afraid of your own shadow or have some sort of social anxiety disorder please look elsewhere. I was in Andover to spend time with my family as I grew up in Andover but now live out of state. I signed up for the club. I was back there less often than I expected and realized that i no longer needed the membership. I tried resigning several times by calling over the phone and explaining that i am not near their location. They refused to accept a resignation by phone, email or fax. They insisted I appear in person or sign a letter and put it in the post. The result of my attempt to get some exercise when I decided to visit my family will be: certified letters sent to planet fitness, calls to my bank to stop payments and likely closing my bank account to stop the charges should they fail to adhere to my request for resignation. Avoid these guys. If you do decide to use Planet Fitness, I would avoid any bank payments and pay only by credit card or simply not sign up. read more

I have been a member here since it opened. I have had good experiences here but lately the bad have out weighed the good. The staff working today are average a best. They would rather chat with each other than do their jobs. A good portion of the people who come here have never been to a gym before and have no idea how to behave, clean equipment, and pick up after themselves. Too many people here are just rude. I understand it's a gym for everyone but people should have a basic respect for each other and recognize that exercise it the primary reason for coming here. This gym is a great place to workout for people looking just to do cardio or lift weights, its at a convenient location in terms of distance from the highway but parking can sometimes be tough because of restaurants and stop and shop being in the plaza, during lunch hours though its a breeze. I like the overall vibe of the club, people are friendly and the staff is great (especially Ben and Michael). They always welcome you with a warm smile and seem to care. For all the people who say that PF brand promotes bad eating habits etc by serving pizza and bagels once a month, come on!, its a matter of personal choice, nobody is forcing anyone to have pizza or bagels one can learn self control. Also PF seems to advertise their stance against "bullying" which is important for young kids and adults alike. Kudos and keep on doing a great job. read more

I have been a member for 2 years and i love it. I use it at least 3 or 4 times a week and that is because it is clean, you are in, you are out. It is a bit jam packed with machines, floor space is limited for floor exercise but i avoid peak times and it is ok. The price is great for what it offers. The one thing i really hate about this place is that i cannot use my radio on my ipod in this place. I wish they would make that possible. read more

$100 cash if someone can tell me who did a hit and run on my "just bought" 2018 car parked outside this planet fitness today 11/22 between 1245 and 145 pm. besides that tragedy lol this gym is always super clean. staff is good. never a wait for cardio machines. weight time for other equipment varies: youll see not so serious folks hogging them up from time to time not engaged in anything but texting. and although its about $10 month (cheap!) for some plans.....i paid $199 for 12 months, non recurring; still not bad. read more

I was a member at Andover Planet Fitness for just about 2 years. Initially the club was clean and decent to use. In the past 6 months the club has gotten very dirty and it is clear there is poor management in place who does not hold high cleanliness standards for employees. I used the club in early mornings so there was no excuse for standing water in the shower area of the men's locker room and toilet paper and paper towels strewn around when I arrived in the early AM as one of the first morning people. During the week this was recently improved but the weekends are a nightmare. The locker room is filthy when they open. it is not safe to walk on the time as it is slippery. The sink area is soaked from the night before. This is simply NOT sanitary or safe for club members. it will no doubt take a lawsuit to remediate this when someone slips and falls or there is a MERSA outbreak. Only then will the franchise owners learn that the cost of sending in cleaning crews to maintain hygiene is less costly than the increase in insurance premuims and settlements paid out. read more
