I wasn't particularly interested in planet fitness at first, But convenient for me because it's in my area and I can walk here. After living in logan square for 5 years now the place has grown on me. I attended Lawndale gym ‍ back in 2007 due to where my job sent me. They had everything I required. Planet fitness doesn't have a walk around track nor a sauna I love my sauna maybe the should invest in one in the women bathroom. That would be great. Also I'm conern about all the break in with the vehicles in their parking alot. Yesterday I was leaving and I saw nothing but windows glass broken from people cars being broken into. Oh Logan Square Planet Fitness, how I hate you! This is by far the most densely populated gym I have ever had the displeasure of being a member of. There is an inadequate amount of free weights, and you can always count on someone doing something absolutely insane. My personal favorite thing used to happen here all the time, lying down a mat to stretch before or after a work out, and a man coming and doing body weight squats basically on your face when there is plenty of space elsewhere. If you love the idea of being t-bagged mid workout, this is definitely the gym for you. In addition, there are a lot of squatters here, and not the lifting kind, the kind that will take up 3-4 machines/weights/cables at a time and just rot in one place doing almost absolutely nothing for a full 2 hours. Do you like kids? Great! There's tons of them here, trying to impress their friends, hooting and hollering while displaying the most miserable form you have ever seen, so much so that you're glad they are young because at the ripe age of 30 it's just giving torn rotator cuffs and slipped discs. God speed getting a solid work out in here. If you manage to do it, I am both impressed and terrified of you! read more

One of the worst PF locations in Chicagoland. Not many enough equipments given the number of members. Also, they are dirty. Further, I got my car broken in at their parking lot which is of course not their fault, but the employees there were very unhelpful and indifferent. Never seen something like that before. They should shrink the parking lot so building itself can be bigger and have more workable space. Locker room is sort of clean, but the locker rusting. This Planet Fitness location has become a complete disappointment. Between the oversized fans blasting constantly and making the gym uncomfortable, to the much more serious issue--cars being broken into in the parking lot--this place feels increasingly unsafe. These break-ins aren't isolated incidents; they've been happening for a while now, even during the middle of the day. Members shouldn't have to worry about their vehicles every time they come in to work out. What's even more frustrating is the lack of communication from management. There have been no emails, no calls, and not even a sign posted to warn members about what's going on. Instead of taking meaningful action, the only advice offered has been to "park near the windows," which isn't realistic when the lot is full most of the time. There needs to be better security--whether that's improved surveillance, proper lighting, or visible deterrents in the parking lot. At the very least, members deserve transparency and proactive communication. Ignoring the issue or downplaying it is unacceptable when people's property is at risk. I would strongly urge others to think twice before signing up here until these problems are addressed. read more

My car, along with several others, was broken into at this location tonight during peak gym hours. From the reviews below, it's clear this has been a recurring issue, and I've also regularly seen glass from broken windows in the parking lot. It's incredibly frustrating, especially since I had made this gym part of my routine. Given how often this seems to happen, I don't understand why they don't have someone monitoring the parking lot. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GYM. Be cautious if you consider canceling your membership at this location. I canceled mine on July 2 and even have text messages to my wife confirming the cancellation, but I continued to be charged. When I called to address this, I was told they don't issue refunds, and that a manager would return my call, which never happened. When I followed up, the manager was so rude and stated they only refund for 60 days but i have been billed since July. Despite my visit to the Logan Square location to cancel, they claimed to have no record of it. This feels like a scam. I do not recommend this gym. Free parking in Chicago, what else needs be said? All jokes aside, staff are friendly, ample parking, safe neighbourhoods. Every time I'm here, I see staff cleaning. I know it's one of the busier locations so this is a challenge keeping it up. I rarely see machines down. One negative is that there are very few stair climbing machines and they're almost always occupied unless you come late at night. Most people are pretty respectable here but you see some interesting stuff like fitness influencers filming which I feel is a violation of their terms but I'm not gonna snitch. The water quality is also questionable even though it's "filtered". It always has a weird funky smell so bring your own or buy their bottled stuff. It's staffed 24/7 except for major holidays so work out at your convenience. I appreciate these guys. read more

I can't be the only one that absolutely despises the new layout. All the machines directly face each other except for like 2 of them & everything feels so awkward now. Everyone's on their phones now & i can feel the discomfort, i used to never see everyone on their phones just sitting at the machines. It's sad. please tell me im not the only one. I go to this PF more than any other on in Chicago. Been member of this chain since 2016. I liked that they had cleaning supplies and good culture promoting wellness b4 Covid. PF is a good value for what you are getting. I have black VIP membership which is not pricey at all. I believe like $22 bucks a month plus $25 yearly fee. That is nothing compared to other gyms. Things that lack are true exercise group fitness. However they have 30 minutes expresss circuit which is nice when you want to do carido and strenght exercises. During Covid-19 this gym followed precautions and had extra bottles of disinfectant readily available. Now they just have the standard stations. I am disappointed by this but will still give the gym 4 stars. I don't believe Covid-19 is over and it would be nice to have access to the extra disinfectant bottles. Machines here are updated versions. They have massage chairs and tanning. They lack the full body machine with blue light. Nearest location with that machine is Avondale. I drive to that location 1x week just for that machine. Overall good gym. Staff are friendly and parking is available. They also have lockers that can be used without key. read more

I was harassed by a planet fitness employee I believe Mariah is the name she was a light skin working at the front desk. giving me attitude for my phone being messed up and not being able to use the app. she was giving me and my friends looks in a way we didn't like. It was very unprofessional to speak the way she spoke to us calling us slurs and saying "your momma is a bitch" as we left the gym after her targeting us at the gym the whole time, we were there over some shoes she didn't have to come out like that. I'd do negative -1 star if I could. I haven't used this facility since December of 2021. They have charged me every month since then. Not only that but I sent in two mailed letters to cancel which were conveniently lost. I then went in to cancel in person on July 1st to cancel. This then showed my last visit at July 1st which is their sneaky trick. No receipts are given of course another lack of accountability to charge extra. They continued to charge me. I sent two more letters and visited on 10/17/2022 (today) which of course reset my "last date of visit as 10/17/2022". They then charged me $24 immediately after I canceled as a final "screw you" to the customer. Amazing strategy for getting scammy cheap money! What a shady dump. So the gym itself is your basic gym. Nothing great or terrible but my problem is when my car was hit in the parking lot while I was inside. The damage has caused me ongoing problems. The machines are always needing repairs, missing parts so that you're unable to adjust for size and height, missing weights, paint chipped, the ceiling leaks and the floor is not level! Don't maintain machines well. Seem to get on one at least once a week that has issues. Also don't enforce or care that sooooo many members don't wipe machines down after using. Every single time I come, I watch at least a handful of members not wipe down machines after use. They also allow members to sit at machines for minutes on end on their phones not using the machine. read more

Recently they remodeled the place and it looks much better, I like that they added from small to big items around the place. I like that they divided the stretching area upstairs, making the space bigger, they added more machines and the setup is better. I like the LED lights in the washroom as well as the addition of the hair drier, and the soap in the showers is a plus. The Black card area also got a makeover and it looks better than before. I do miss the chairs in the space after taking a shower, it makes it easier to put on my shoes. I'll keep coming back. read more

UPDATE: it's gotten worse! I came back a few days later, and BOOM no paper towels. I STILL gave them a chance and today, there are paper towels (YAY) but the three employees behind the desk have completely disregarded the overflowing trash cans. Probably because they are used to never having paper towels. Haha. Also, the water filter system is STILL out, and the place is still gross. Will attached pictures. I'm not coming back. This used to be my home gym. It was great when it first opened and I was so excited to have a PF close to home. BUT the times have changed. Whoever franchises this place, clearly does not care about standards. I'm not saying this place is disgusting, but there is a certain lack of care. From experience, I believe PF cares about maintaining cleanliness, but this location consistently runs out of supplies, eg paper towels, spray, and filter system for water bottle refill station. Planet Fitness has come to Logan Square! It's been open just a couple of months and I'm very happy to have a location so convenient to home. I went in to check it out and was happy with the facilities so signed up this week. I've been three times since signing up and am enjoying it so far. It definitely feels less creepy than other gyms and less of the intimidation factor, which is their big mantra. This location has a nice, big parking lot which is such a commodity in Logan Square and going here would be nearly impossible without it. Personally, I can easily walk there as it's just about a 15 minute hike...but on rainy mornings like this morning, that parking lot was much appreciated. I haven't conquered the weight machines just yet but they have a good variety, as well as free weights. They also have these cool weight rotations where you can get a full core workout in 15 minutes or full body strengthening in 30. You press a button and off you go, rotating stations. I'll switch up my workout eventually, but have only tackled the ellipticals so far. I love them - smooth gliding, great recording of my calories burned/distance/time/etc, charging station, headphone plugins, water bottle holder, and space for keys. Aside from ellipticals, I've seen bikes and treadmills in terms of cardio machines. I haven't even ventured to the second floor yet so I'm hoping for a bit more variety up there like stair machines! I've found the front desk staff to always be pleasant, some nicer than others, some less rehearsed & more natural than others...I think I'm already picking my favorites. :P For $10/month you can join and workout at your home gym. For $20/month you can join, workout at any location and use the tanning beds & massage chairs/beds. I did the $20 membership and tried their beds yesterday....they sure work well! So relaxing and super clean. The 'hidden fee' in the Planet Fitness membership is a $39 annual fee charged October 1st. with my Black Membership, I had to commit to 12 months and if I cancel prior, I'm charged $58. The locker room is very clean, as are the showers. Be sure to bring a lock for the locker or you can purchase one for $6. You can also purchase eyewear for tanning, apparel, water...they have a good amount of items for sale. I think the only thing I don't love is the wiping down of the machines. Other gyms I have been to use wet wipe type things to clean the machines post use. Here they have a roll of thin brown paper and a spray bottle. Seems less effective to me and I don't want someone's sclams all over my hands! haha I have seen *most* people clean their machines after using them though, so that's good. All in all, I'm very happy with the new & clean facilities, clientele, staff, pricing and the entire experience. read more
