To a person, the staff is the best--always friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The gym is always clean, and the equipment is always in good working condition. Overall, a solid Planet Fitness location with plenty to offer, though it has one noticeable drawback. On the positive side, parking is always easy and hassle-free, and the bathrooms are consistently kept clean. The main downside here is the layout and crowd control. The machines and equipment are packed together very tightly, and the floor layout doesn't leave much breathing room between stations for the square footage. It gets extremely crowded, though it's hard to tell if that's just a seasonal summer rush or standard for this location. If you don't mind navigating a tight floor plan during peak hours, it's still a good gym experience, but a bit more personal space around the equipment would make a huge difference. read more

The manager Ryan and his assistant manager Noah keeps ensure that the gym is spotless, and the equipment is always in tiptop condition. I don't understand any bad reviews about this place. It's for everything you need for working out, not to mention the black card spa is amazing. I only go on weekday mornings between around 8:15 and 10 am and it's never so crowded I have to wait for any machine like some people are saying. It has 5 stair masters, and also totally top notch tanning beds - just as good as the ones at tanning salons that charge $100/month for a membership. One thing I enjoy about being a member of PF is being able to use multiple locations with no issues. This Planet Fitness is located on Murfreesboro Road in Franklin and sits in a decent size shopping center among eateries and shops. Given the location in the plaza, parking is never an issue. I will say that this PF is the most compact location I have ever visited. It is essentially one large "L" shaped space. There are two rows of cardio equipment that start mere feet from the door, each row having roughly 4p machines. In front of these two rows is the resistance equipment which is nestled up to the cardio machines in two rows as well. At the end of the cardio/resistance machines is the smaller free weight area and then to the around the corner from that is the large cable machine area. They do feature the stretching/abs area as well as the circuit room in addition to the Black Card room and of course the locker rooms. While the space is cramped, they have all new equipment, which was fantastic! Nothing in that gym was in bad shape! They also had around 34 TV's, each labeled with their channel...which is weirdly important as I strategically choose my cardio machine based off of the channel its in front of! The only downfall with this location, outside of the tight space, especially after work, is the service. The young lady at the front had zero interest in being of assistance for me. I was a new visitor to this club and wanted to use the black card area, and after standing at the desk for 2 minutes while she texted, I just called it a day. I think this could be a solid spot for a good workout, but definitely have to time it right! read more

So this is solely on the few staff members (ESPECIALLY THE ONE TRAINER Mackay and most of the female staff) that don't make any new comers or people who aren't from here feel welcomed! I'm from LA and I think people can tell I'm not from here but the stares and the looks of just judgements all the time! I thought planet fitness was suppose to be a judgement free zone. I'm a single mom, who also struggles from a history of hip dysplasia (I've had 3-5 hip surgeries on both hips and now have 5 screws in my right hip) and I'm just trying to get back into shape. I just don't understand if your a staff member why the need to make people feel more uncomfortable than they already feel. And today I passed by the trainer Mackay in the locker room and we almost ran into each other, what does this lady do, she takes one good look at me up and down doesn't say excuse me or anything and just walks pass me like I'm in her way and I need to move. The audacity that even a trainer can just disregard someone who literally is just trying to come to gym to escape from feeling insecure. I'm just so appalled and have never felt so discouraged to go to a gym. Before having my son I use to be a member at 24 hour and GOLDS GYM in LA and I have never felt this way ever in those gyms than I do at this particular "JUDGMENT FREE ZONE" Planet Fitness. read more

Planet Fitness on Murfreesboro Road is run down. I pay for a black membership so that I can use the massage chairs and only one of them is fully functional; the other one has been broken for months. Some of the lockers are broken in the men's locker room. The hair dryer mount is broken off the wall. This place is falling apart since I started going a year ago. Don't go to planet fitness if you are from out of town and just want to buy a day pass. They wanted to charge 21.95 for one day. This is a rip-off. I travel often for work and buy day passes for 5 to 10 dollars. Then to showcase their business acumen, they recommend a gym down the street that charges $10 bucks. By the time we finished our membership here, we had really appreciated the help from Julia. She was always ready to help with any challenges we had. The facility is adequate and clean. I was greeted by an older lady with a lot of Botox who told me to go home, download an app and sign up through the app. When I asked if I could just sign up on the spot she said no. Guess they're not interested in new members. I have been a Black card member for 2 yrs. In the last 3 months it has gone down terrible. The people are very friendly but the place is a mess. It use to be so clean. Now there is cobb webs in the corners the bathrooms are filthy. I ran a paper towel on one of the machines it was disgusting. And the tanning beds are very old. I go to a lot of Planet Fitness around the USA and these beds are the worse. Please get the cleanliness level back. And look into getting some new or newer tanning beds. Thank you Linda read more

There have been a couple of employees that were nice and welcoming, but there is one woman there that is very unpleasant almost every time I go. Never got a tour of the place, never got my black card membership bag or whatever they're suppose to give you so I had to ask for it. The facility is nice and it's not ever full when I would go in the mornings, but that's about all the nice I can say about it. Big mistake and a waste of my money for an entire year. read more

It doesn't matter who runs a local club when poor franchise rules back it up. You need a certified letter to cancel a gym membership because anyone could cancel the membership? Who cares just re-activate it when you find out someone closed the wrong account, it's a couple of clicks. Oh, or is it more important to grab ghost money because they make it difficult for customers to cancel. I was going to buy his new membership at Planet Fitness in our new state but I can't even do that without a certified letter to the old gym. I will by him a membership at a real gym. 5th gym I've used. Never had to write a letter. Even 24/7 Fitness doesn't make you write a letter because it's a Gym Membership. I just moved a 401k over the phone but they knew how to verify someones identity over the phone. Come on get it together. We are in the electronic age. Warning to the public: if the only way to address a grievance is through the very club you had the grievance with, then that should be a sign that you are not dealing with a safe of professional organization. No one answers on the customer service phone. It's all rigged so you can't get anyone to help. And when the asst. manager won't give you the regional's phone number, then you know he is desperate for his own job. It is a dirty circle that turns around this gym. 2 years ago I hurt my back trying to manuever an "adjustable" chair in the express room. I complained to management. 2 years later they fixed it. We have to constantly wait for people to leave machines to let others on, as they dominate these machines themselves or with groups of friends. If you have a medical issue and can only use certain machines, this makes for lack of managing. If they monitored the floor behavior as much as they governed you about a mask, then they should be seen as a reputable place, but they aren't. For instance, Assistant Manager "Ryan" has one smart mouth and no respect for women. When I didn't want to cheerfully greet him at the desk as I was leaving , he would shout out "HAVE A NICE DAY" in a very sarcastic tone. Which brings me to the other day when I was there from an absence. I asked to speak to a manager about a doctor's letter I have that states I have a medical condition that exaserbates with the mask, declaring me to be exempt. Ryan, newly promoted, walks out of his office and tells me abruptly that he nor Corporate would allow my letter in this gym. When asked if I could see where it is in writing, he couldn't give me an answer. Hmmmm....So I told him I would think about all of this, and, I was going to locker room and then on a treadmill. Ryan approaches me 10 minutes after I am on the treadmill and says, I HAVE TO SEE YOUR MASK. (This was done in a threatening manner.) No one had a mask on at their treadmills or anywhere in the room, so why was Ryan singling me out? Then he told me if I didn't show him my mask I would have to leave. He knew my mask was in my locker so he made me go to the front desk and get a mask. Then I went back to finish my workout, and I noticed he was following me from a distance, everywhere I went. When I asked him for a Regional phone number he said he didn't know it. Manager doesn't know regional phone contact? I will be pursuing further action on this matter, but as a woman and 2 year member, my experiences here have been horrible, and for that I am giving a heads up to those who want a fair and legal place to work out, please seek other venues. Nobody should have to go through being chased around by a manager and ordered to do things that violate our Human Rights. read more

I used a PF in Texas for years and the quality of the one in Franklin is above and beyond what I have experienced anywhere else. It's new, so it is very clean and shiny. I like the no judgement slogan of PF and they stick to it. I never feel awkward and I like that the staff is helpful and nice. It's a little cold in there, but I think that's just a gym thing. I like the bells of the black card, but I would even recommend it without the added amenities of the black card. It just feels clean and friendly all the time. It gets a little crowded in the afternoons early in the week. I haven't gone in the mornings, though. Parking is a breeze since it is in a shopping center of sorts and there is a large shared lot. read more

Definitely a sub-par location compared to the location I had been used to, in Newport, KY, I was using before I moved. Not a lot of space for free weights and cross-fit type exercises as well as only one spot to do pull-ups/chin-ups in which a lot of the time you are in the way of others who are being trained by the personal trainer. I felt like an a**hole for doing my abdominal lifts above my head in front of the class as if I were showing off (definitely not!). I didn't want to be that guy, but you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. Would recommend to more casual exercisers and/or those who just use a treadmill or do simple lifts (not saying that's a bad thing by any stretch), but for those who typically require more energetic workouts, for the lack of a better phrase, I would encourage you to look elsewhere until they are able to put this location on par with some of its other locations around the country. read more

I've been a black card member here for a little over a week now and have been in almost every day. I have not been to any other locations, but I can easily say that this location seems well-equipped for the amount of people you'll find so close to Cool Springs. I love that it's 24/7, I love that it's clean (though most members don't seem to follow the rule of wiping down equipment after they've used it), and the staff has been incredibly kind. I'm a very naturally thin 23-year-old and have never been to a gym before this place, and the staff has been more than happy to show me how to use equipment. My biggest worry in joining a gym was that I would be stared at or judged, and I really can say that I've only made eye contact with one other member in the time that I've been at this gym Truly, people want to do their thing and let you do yours. Being a fitness junkie and having spent many years in every gym known to man, as well as being a personal trainer for about a decade, planet fitness is refreshing. I don't have the same need to go workout for 3 hours a day and stare in the mirror at my progress and compare myself to what I looked like a month ago, and to the other people around me. And Planet Fitness caters to that. It's so clean and well maintained. The staff is super friendly and i truly believe the laid back atmosphere that encourages you to come do your own thing when it's convenient for you is because of the attitude generated by employees. I was informed today that Planet Fitness did not allow an 80-year old gentleman with a disability use their restrooms. They turned him away blatantly, however, a bystander graciously offered to help him out. She walked him across the street to a different place, and then helped him to his car. She was not an employee there. I understand that places have their policies, but there is no common sense here. I believe that the employees should be held to a much higher standard than that, and offered to help the man in need instead of turning him away with no apologies. It should be about following the spirit of the policy, rather than strictly to the letter, especially with special cases like this. I will absolutely be sharing this all throughout social media.
