I want to give them 5 stars but I just can't. Don't get me wrong. I throughly enjoy working out here. They have every machine possible - seriously... Every front desk staff member has greeted me with a warm smile and kindness and always have answers to any questions I've had. Periodically, (usually later in the day) it really starts to smell like sweat in there BUT it's clean! Sweat is to be expected in a gym, obviously. My biggest reason for docking stars is to such: there's one woman who works out here and while working out she wears her head phones, talks LOUDLY on the phone, sometimes yelling out profanity and banging and drumming her hands on the equipment and staff doesn't do anything to correct it. That's the kind of behavior you display in your home gym. Not a public one. I have abruptly stopped my workout and left because she's noisy enough to cut through my noise canceling headphones. read more

Place is very clean and clean well presented. The layout was really good. Slightly older equipment but functional. I travel a lot so I hit up all Planet Fitnesses when I travel. This was spacious, with plenty of equipment. People don't wipe their equipment down after done but that's not this locations fault. The Spa was new style where you have to reserve a time which is not something I'm used to but it prevents someone hogging up the chairs and also prevents people who don't spend the extra to have this in their membership. Joanna, is extremely professional. She can make tough situations smooth. I made a visit to Longbeach Planet Fitness. I witness Joanna handling multiple duties at once. At that time my wife had a restroom emergency. Although, Joanna was very busy, she dropped e everything to handle the situation for my wife. Joanna handled the situation efficiently, easy, kindly, and was back to helping others quickly. I am extremely impressed by Joanna's high level performance. I like coming here, but there are two customers who talk so loud that nobody wants to use the machines near them, especially when they are on the treadmills. Even wearing headphones they're a nuisance. Staff doesn't do anything about it. read more

I love coming to planet fitness! There's plenty of parking and plenty of exercise equipment! Exercise equipment: There's plenty of treadmills, stationary bikes, elliptical machines, stair masters and all sorts of weight machines and free weights as well. Bathrooms/Locker: Large bathroom, has several stalls, showers, lockers and large changing area. Cleaning Station: There's several areas with spray bottles and paper towels to wipe down your exercise area. There's also hand sanitizer in several areas. Staff: They're friendly and very welcoming! Conclusion: The place it's not fancy but it has what you need for a good workout. So come on down and burn those fat cells! You'll be happy afterwards! read more

Both of the(who I belive to be managers) are extremely unprofessional. Im always overhearing the manager of the location on the phone with her boyfriend. I also saw the assistant manager dancing and singing to the music that was playing through the speakers, which is always really bad. The gym itself is dirty and its clear as day that this place is under staffed, meanwhile the managers never seem to help their staff with cleaning. Broken water fountain, an over abundance of "free" members either coming with their friends pass or no pass at all! Apparently kids can work out for free now with parental approval. Cool now us paying members with jobs have to share amenities with children Annoying that after getting off work a normal routine is now a normal headache due to the free crowd. Tried pausing my membership (been a member for seven years) for an out of town job. Took the staff five attempts on their computer. Was told it's paused for 90 days. One month later PF bills me and overdraws my checking acct. I call the front desk and am told I didn't bring a doctor's note to excuse me for taking an out of town job. What does a doctor have to do with taking a job where's there isn't a PF? I call back next day and am told the same thing. I lose my temper and say the word f××× Then i receive a canceled policy stating i broke conduct rules. Really??? Emailed CS several times and no response. Tried calling PF corporate. Not only did they remove my first review. Not only have there been no improvements. Not only did Patrica Ramos lie to me when she said she wanted to speak about my experience only to give me the general club's number. Now I am literally being endangered for doing their job. Today, after politely asking an individual to respect my workout space, I was threatened by said individual with physical violence. I have complained multiple times about the dangerous lack of enforcement of safe operating space, to which the store manager, Joanna, simply replied "what do you want me to do about it?" So I'm done. I don't come to the gym to work on my health so some ASSHOLE can start a fight with me. Nor is it my job to ensure this space is safe. Maybe OSHA can sort this shite organization out. But I am done. Went in to try out this location and honestly I'm appalled. There's such a terrible stench as you walk in, as if the building has no ventilation. It smelled like manure and shrimp. As I came inside there were three homeless men camped out in the gym. I tried to complain but the general manager paid zero attention to my concerns. She wouldn't even give me eye contact. Mind you I am a black man so I feel like her ignoring me was racially motivated. The assistant manager however, seems much better suited to be running this club. read more

It is clean and the staff is personable. There are cleaning stations throughout the gym so you can wipe down equipment. The price is great. However, when machines are out of order it can take weeks to get repairs done. Currently, there are 3 stationary bikes with do not use signs and 2 others that have pedaling issues. That leaves one that is working correctly. Also, many of the patrons don't pick up after themselves, leaving weights and equipment lying around instead of putting them back where they belong. read more

From all the different PF locations I've been to locally and in other states, Scott [pictured below] is one of the warmest, friendliest staff members I've met. For me, I'm often lazy to go to the gym and feel so uncomfortable because of being out of shape (and the power tripping management and cold/indifferent staff at some of the other locations). All of the staff is friendly with the exception of the manager lady. She needs to learn bedside manner. She is in the people business and needs to learn how to talk to people. If it wasn't for Jazmon being so friendly and greeting me with a smile every single time I walk in and leave, I would rate this place a 2 star at best. The success of any business is its customer retention. That happens when you have people like Jazmon. The cleanliness of the place is not bad. Sometimes the enclosed work out area smell like really bad BO. I really like the app. It helps me keep track of my workout sessions. Gives you workout tips and more. Free membership for high schoolers in the summer so you'll see a group of 5 pajama wearing kids at one machine for an hour. Also, as respectfully as I can put this, there's a certain group of people that don't wear deodorant there. It's so bad I have to completely avoid any machine in a 20 foot radius of them. I signed up at Planet Fitness because I needed a gym with multi pass that is available in Long Beach, Fountain Valley, South Gate, except a creepy employee in the Fountain Valley location keeps sexually harassing me and his manager is backing him up and is dismissive of my claims, and as a result, I have decided I am closing my gym membership with Planet Fitness, which includes the Long Beach Club, because going to the Fountain Valley club makes me incredibly uncomfortable. There were other issues with my Planet Fitness membership during my time here, they also try to charge me extra $10 for nothing month after month. Other little issues include: Basically no freeweights (they do have some dumbbells). Also nice job deleting the previous review of the sexually harassment, trying your best to cover up the spilled milk I see. I've had my PF membership for about a year now (since they opened during COVID) and I come in 6-7 days a week. The machines are always in pristine condition l, I think I've seen the "machine out of service" sign maybe twice and the staff are beyond helpful and friendly. I usually come in around 5:30 AM so I see the over night staff (can't remember names) and when I leave it's always Jay and Susie during the week. For being the crack of dawn everyone during those shifts are always friendly and excited to see members come in and out. For someone like me, it's difficult to make it in so early but when you have people like them it makes it just that much easier. On the weekend morning shift, Juan is theeeee man. I have come in when he's alone at the front desk and you can tell he's doing 100 things at once but he continues on with his great costumer service. Please pay attention to the bad reviews about billing. It's a cheap gym, that's the only positive thing. I never write bad reviews & I try to be understanding about mistakes / other issues, but this business is incredibly untrustworthy. They CANNOT be trusted with your financial information, please don't make the mistake that we all did. I cancelled my membership last year (car accident & injury; couldn't drive there / couldn't work out for a few months, so I called to cancel); however, I didn't understand that cancellation wouldn't be finalized over the phone & signature is required. At this time, I thought the cancellation was finalized, it wasn't made clear that they needed my signature in-person, especially as I told them the whole problem about the injury etc. I noticed months later that I was still being charged (my fault for not realizing sooner) and called on Saturday. They explained that signature is required for cancellation, so I went in within the hour & signed. I asked if there was anything else I needed to do & they assured me that I was done, that I would not be charged again. Up to this point, I truly believed that the botched cancellation was a miscommunication, and blamed myself. Well, they charged me again on Monday. When I called to ask what happened, the manager informed me that it takes them ~1 week to process cancellation & they conveniently forgot to mention this. So yet again I am stuck with this ongoing membership charge which they insist is non-refundable. I do not trust that they actually cancelled the membership... convenient feigned incompetence to make sure that they can keep charging you indefinitely. I am going to have to escalate the problem with my bank at this point. It's a horrible feeling. Do not under any circumstances give your banking information to these people. Planet Fitness - Front - Gyms Near Me - Long Beach, California

Well-sized PF with good parking and well maintained facilities. This PF is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking in front. It was not crowded during my early morning visit. Like all the other PF locations I've been to, it's strength lies in the cardio area. There was a voluminous amount of cardio machines. They had numerous treadmills, ellipticals in different variations, stationary bikes, and 9 step-mills (The most I've ever seen inside of a PF). The free weight apparatus was good for the mainstream gym goer but heavy lifters would probably find this area a little lacking. Other areas included the 360, Black Card, locker rooms, 30 minute workout, free weights, weight machines, and legs and abs. Sprinkled amongst each of the areas were cleaning stations (spray bottle with cleaning solution and paper towels). The entire gym was well-maintained and very clean. Everyone seemed to clean up after themselves. The locker room, although small, was comfortable. There were three or four very clean showers, and three changing stalls. I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of the best chain gyms in the area. read more

Well... I normally go to the one on Pine Ave, but I just happened to be near THIS one at the time so I went in. First...it is pretty big... but... it seems as if management tried to cram as much equipment as possible inside! Second... said equipment is in DIRE need of an upgrade. It was as if old equipment goes there to die, especially the massage chairs!! Third... there were several pieces of equipment that was not working which actually negated literally working out on top of one another with so much of it in there. Fourth... the TV screens were cool, as they gave a choice of viewing pleasures. And fifth... the ONE staff member that would actually communicate with was VERY helpful since it was my first time in this location. Another said "good morning, boss", and that was the extent of my interaction with the staff. Other than the equipment, it wasn't too bad but I think that I'll stick to Pine Ave. It's smaller (almost a boutique, by comparison), but I think I'll call it... HOME. There, the staff are pretty much friendly... except for this one young lady who, well, aside from interrupting her sodoku with inane questions, I am not sure why she's there. I used to really love this gym before the pandemic hit! The staff were on top of things, friendly, and super helpful. It's gone downhill since! There should be no reason I walk into the gym at 8am and every single stall is without toilet paper and it's funky. I understand it's a restroom, but come on. There is non-stop foot traffic in the restrooms and they should be cleaned on a regular! Also, I don't know what has gotten into everyone thinking they're a personal trainer. I watch men harassing women during their workouts. I've had men seek my attention, and when I tell them I'm not interested, some leave me alone and others try to intimidate me. No means no, now move along. Lastly, the front desk staff decide who they want to greet upon entry and exit and who they don't. This place is a joke, but I guess these are all the issues you get when it's $10 a month, or $20 since I have a Black Card. I'll definitely be canceling my membership! read more

I came here to try this facility and workout on 01/01/2023. The front desk associate named Daniela greeted me and was very kind, helpful, and friendly! She assisted me with my free trial pass. I go to LA Fitness relatively close by and work out 4-5x a week. I intended on planning to switch to a different gym. I was super surprised and in awe of how clean and gorgeous the facility was. I got in warm-up's, strength training, and 20 minute cardio done. The gym equipments are super clean. I admired that not only the facility posts cleaning social etiquettes, but I saw many of the gym members themselves possess great cleaning etiquette. I really admired this because I value these practices as well. At LA Fitness, paper towels are on the floor and the facility is not very clean. When I was doing cable cords workout, I noticed that the rope attachments are in tact. At LA Fitness, many of the ropes and gym equipments are ripping apart. I also liked that their fans are running. I get hot easily when working out. At LA Fitness, the AC doesn't work sometimes and during the past heat wave, it was not a great experience. During my strength training workouts at the weightlifting area, I liked how it is spread apart and is very spacious. At LA Fitness, the weightlifting has little space and little room to move around. After my workout was done, I knew this was the place I wanted to call my second home and spoke with another staff named Sydney. He went over both of the memberships and benefits including classes comprehensively. During my workouts, I saw him going around the gym to scrub and sanitize. I appreciate that this PF facility hires people who care about people. Lastly, I can't believe they are open 24 hours! This works well with my schedule. In the meantime, I will finish up the remaining week I have with LA Fitness and will be switching over! Cant wait! read more

This is a nicely designed Planet Fitness. It felt like a newer gym. Biggest complaint: Three male employees were working and the locker room was filthy. Not slightly dirty, but highway rest stop filthy. It was gross. I noticed two of the employees going through the locker room so it's not like they didn't know it was dirty.... Anyway, I told one of the managers. She apologized and said it would be addressed. This gym was pretty busy so maybe the club should have a policy for the locker rooms to be checked every 30 minutes to an hour. read more

Takes forever to get repairs.done at all PF. I asked the front desk to fix the ladies dressing room lock which doesn't lock. You can just open the door when someone is dressing. I use a T-shirt to put over the door to show it's occupied. The girl at the desk said if the door is closed. It's in use. Just be careful. I said. No, fix the lock so people can't just pull it open. She looked at me like huh? I said what? You know it's broken, now have someone come fix it WTF?? Why should people be careful about your laziness when they're getting dressed and standing there naked and the door can be pulled open because the lock doesn't lock. What logic is that? I have had issues with shower heads falling on my foot because they don't have a holder. Cold water/ hot water intermittent in the showers. Ridiculous. Get it together read more

The gym itself is okay. During my one-year membership I only visited 11 times and pretty much forgot I had it. Just wasn't my scene. My gripe with the gym is that I was charged the annual fee of $39. I went in that very day to cancel my membership and request a refund for the annual fee. Jose, the manager, had me fill out paperwork to request the refund and I canceled my membership. When I followed-up on this request, I was told my "home" gym was in Hawthorne and the woman I spoke with said I would have to contact that gym. I signed up at the Ximeno location. In fact, I didn't even know where Hawthorne was on a map. And when I assured her she was wrong, she rudely snapped back. I called back later to speak with Jose and long story short, I don't feel confident anyone is going to make an effort to resolve the issue. If the company is this inflexible about a refund that was requested on the day it was charged (for the year in which I won't be using the gym) it is not a company I want to do business with in the future. And it's not a company that I would recommended anyone else use either. Enjoy your $39, Planet Fitness. Hopefully it buys you a little integrity. Update: The company's response to my review was dismissive, simply suggesting that I return to the very same people who've wasted my time up to this point.
