After seeing these other Yelp reviews, I say I'm surprised more members haven't written on here…read moreyet. This gym is exceptional, especially if you are into bodybuilding and powerlifting. I've had my membership for almost 2 years, and never really had a complaint. Tons of versital equipment, separate rooms themed for different needs. Now, the amount of community this gym has is also unreal. Tons of people who are empowered to show there workouts, and recording themselves. (Some people don't like that, but that's okay.) Facebook is busy, Instagram is busy, and there are members of all shapes and sizes. The price is the most I've ever had on a gym membership, but I can't complain due to what's invested back into the gym. So whether you want to be an influencer, or just get in and get out kind of gym goer; you can find your place here.

Save your time and $ and go somewhere else. Here are a few gyms I recommend in CT over this place. Lighting Fitness (South Windsor) - Arguably one of the best gyms in the country, Steel Beach Gym -Oakville, Powerhouse -New Haven. I wish I never gave PSW my business. In response to the owners comment on my review: The only reason I even gave PSW business was because my friend was there. So you got buisness and brought in $ because you had a loyal customer. If it wasn't for my friend being there I wouldn't even step foot into PSW. Everyone has different experiences and you seem to just not listen. It seems as though a lot of people are having the same experiences and instead of changing and actually self evaluating you argue and get defensive on social media. This is a perfect example of what people are talking about. Not only did he put my personal visits on the internet for the public to see but he was so worried he had to look me up in the system. It's interesting that he's so defensive and calling reviews bogus for VALID experiences people had in this gym. With that I will never step foot in this gym and wish I never had in the first place!

I only did the four week trial at a very discounted price because I was living in the area temporarily. However, I have never seen such extreme results in only four weeks time as I did when I took these classes 2 to 3 times a week. The group that I did the classes with felt like a close team and the coaches were extremely welcoming and not intimidating. Physically, I pushed my body in ways I never did before in quick bursts of interval training. Every class was different and I looked forward to each one. The workouts are short and varied enough that you feel like you can at least try anything, and the instructors always give an option to make it a bit easier and a bit harder with each exercise intro. Like I said, I have since moved away but am looking to get involved in a gym like this. It's more pricey than others but worth every penny bc I got way better results practically immediately than any other fitness program I've done.

It's never late, nor too early to start working towards a better, healthier lifestyle.

The Fitness Center for women is local, small gym that's currently moving to a new location…read more Generally, the staff is very pleasant and polite, and they help you with everything, take free measurements for you and all. The trainers are VERY nice and polite. The owner, however, is anything but. I signed up twice --- the first time before I had gone to college, and had enough free time to commit to a schedule. It worked out fine until I had to cancel due to financial problems (I enrolled in college and could no longer afford to be in college and to afford the $41.48 membership fee, so I had to cancel.) I did this legitimately, by paying the $99 cancellation fee after about 5-6 months. After that, since I was in college, I did not attend the gym for about 2-3 years, until this summer when I had about 3 months to sign up again, this May (my new contract actually began 5/29/13). So, I thought fine, I can afford this until I get a stable income after graduating college (I am graduating this year.) However, as the months passed on, I noticed another charge on my bank account for $46.59 in ADDITION to the $41.48 which was already taken out. I was fully aware of the yearly $25.00 fee, which had already came out, but this was something else. This extra charge was explained to me (much later, I might add) and the staff of the bank as an "insufficient funds" charge. The $20 "insufficient funds charge" + $41.48 - $46. I called the gym the very day I noticed the charge, and immediately asked to speak to the owner, however she was on vacation at the moment and they said I needed to wait for a week until she got back. This was not acceptable due to the fact I had missing funds in my account at the moment, and I could not wait for the owner to sort it out with me. I am a college student and need EVERY cent in my account, and I do not account for such errors like "double billing" and other things that would cause my account to go into the negative. I had to call my bank and file a chargeback for the extra amount of the $46. Bank of America explained this charge as a merchant error, and the bank refunded me the amount. The gym owner very rudely stated when she called today, that she disputed the charge against her company, because it was "not her error" and said that the bank is going to retract the refunded amount from my bank. The owner, Kristie, was VERY rude and didn't seem to be very understanding of the problem. She insisted that she "did nothing wrong", and when I mentioned i'd like to cancel out of pure frustration and because I was moving out of town soon (and would be signing up with a much cheaper gym) in addition to all the trouble this has caused me with the bank (with overdraft fees and calling both the bank AND the gym to

I joined the Fitness Center For Women last June after having an annual physical that left me…read morefeeling very upset about my physical condition and weight. The nurse practitioner recommended it to me, and I have no regrets at all about joining -- it has been a wonderful experience. When you start, they evaluate your fitness level, and design a workout for you, also spending an hour of time with you making sure you know how to set up the machines and how to do each exercise without hurting yourself. I worked out on my own mostly over the summer and also tried the hula hoop class with Tanya. Not only is it a very fun class -- it is a good workout that raises your heart rate and makes you sweat. This Fall, I joined the Diva Boot Camp. I am far from a Diva, but I have found a great group of women who support each other with making it through some tough workouts and do so consistently. Kristie, the gym owner, leads the camp, and she keeps the workouts varied and interesting. She is encouraging and tough all at the same time. I was new to the area, and this has really made me feel like I have a community of people who are becoming friends and who are striving together to meet their goals. Next June, when I go back for my annual physical, I suspect it will be a very different experience. For anyone who has not tried an "all women's gym" and is curious -- I highly recommend it. It just takes the edge off and let's you focus on your workouts and not worry about whether you look presentable. There is not a lot of vanity -- it's a place where women can work out and feel at ease whatever your size or fitness level. Go for it -- you have nothing to lose (except a few pounds) ; )

What I love about this studio that sets them apart from others is the variety of classes offered for all levels and types of people. Some of my favorite classes so far are: power flow yoga ( a MUST take class with instructor Bethany) , multi flow vinyasa, barre (take Kimies class!!!!), HIIT (Pattie is motivating) and low body blast. And I haven't even tried them all yet! There are a multitude of workshops that happen every month, from meditation, to restorative yoga, to yoga with your children, to focusing on healing just one part of your body. They even do ugly sweater yoga at a brewery every year! ALSO, there is a wellness studio on the second level with doctors of natural medicine, physical therapy, mental therapy. And Verbena!! A spa center where they offer massage, acupuncture, a salt room... it just keeps getting better. I haven't gotten a massage yet, but it's on my "to-do" list. Really tho.... can you ask for anything else? I seriously recommend anyone young or old, male or female to check out Bloom... who knows you might find what has been missing in your life! I know I did.

So now that I know for certain that both of my reviews in Google never got posted, I'm posting here…read morebecause I know that Yelp doesn't let businesses remove bad reviews. Too bad it doesn't matter now because they're closing down today, but maybe people who know the management will know to avoid their future endeavors. What UFC Gym Southington suffers from most is poor management. The new co-GM's are no better than the last. From Dec to Jan, four different schedules got posted, all of which conflicted w/ the app. When we asked for clarification, nobody responded. It's also so off-putting that sales & marketing goals are publicly posted on a whiteboard as soon as you walk in the gym. This highlights a lot of issues with them and their push for new memberships. The turnover rate for coaches is also alarming. There's VERY little kickboxing experience on staff, and most of the coaches would embarrass themselves if they threw a round kick. Their combos have no flow, which shows their lack of experience and that they don't actually try the combos before using them in class. If you're looking for a boxing/kickboxing gym, this is not it. If you want HIIT, Zumba, Restorative Yoga, or Muscle Makeover, this may be your gym. Look at the schedules for other UFC Gyms- some examples are Mamaroneck, Boston, Long Island, or East Rutherford. Notice there are several boxing/kickboxing/Muay Thai classes every evening after 5PM when most people get off work. Now look at the Southington schedule on Tues after 5PM- TRX, Pound, Youth Wrestling, Hip Hop Step...? And no more early morning classes? They recently installed a "boxing ring" that looks like it's from Toys-R-Us. Again, look at other UFC Gyms. This boxing ring is just sad. Within a month, it's already falling apart. And that's not the only thing falling apart; there's been a ghetto-fabulous tarp-&-hose setup to contain a roof leak for several weeks now. Another gripe is the Focusmasters. No other UFC Gym uses them. They're the worst of both worlds. They're not intended for power like the heavy bags, and you get none of the partner interaction of focus mitts. If you're tall, they're too low. If you're short, they're too high. There's no way to make them work for everyone. The coaches just use them to kill time when they don't want to come up w/ a full 50-min class, or when they overbook and have too many people for the heavy bags. "Okay kids, we're gonna go play on the Focusmasters now!" On that note, stop letting 20 people to sign up for a kickboxing class when you only have 10 bags! Now this is gonna get personal. I was at the gym several days a week throughout my pregnancy right up until the day I gave birth. One of the new GMs had just started as a coach a month before my son was born. I saw her there pretty much every day and even took one of her classes. Once I had the baby, I took a month off, then resumed my gym routine. 6 months later, I decided to cancel. I sent an email saying I was no longer able to make valuable use of my membership, (a nice way of saying that their schedule, poor management, & lack of experience on staff was no longer working for me). I came to sign paperwork and conveniently the WiFi was down. While I waited, I had a very disheartening convo w/ the GM where she called me out for not making it to the gym as often (trying to make me feel like my lack of satisfaction was my fault, not theirs). I reminded her that I recently had a baby, and she insisted that she never even met me until after I had the baby, and that I was at the gym much more when I first had him. She was so surprised to find out that I was in her class while I was pregnant. Not only did she try to make a new mom feel bad for being at the gym less, she literally didn't even remember a 7+ month pregnant woman at the gym in her kickboxing class. It's bizarre that someone can be so impersonal and out of touch. This gym claims to be a community but couldn't care less about their members. She even felt the need to remind me a week before my contract ended that my last day was coming up. Don't you worry dear, I won't show up after my contract is over. You've made it abundantly clear to me that my presence means nothing here. When it was finally up, the sense of relief was oddly similar to the feeling of leaving a bad 2+ year relationship. I'm glad it's over. Later UFC Gym, it's been real.

Friendly staff at the front desk, I believe his name was David, he was super helpful and kind. Only qualm is that the class was supposed to be 50 minutes, and the training coach stopped at 40 minutes, which I've never experienced at a UFC gym. Regardless, the gym was clean, the front desk staff and the trainer were nice. If I'm ever in CT again I'll definitely go back! Thanks for the hospitality, UFC Gym Southington!
