Haughtily he said that they were too busy to help and I would have to check at the till. He then walked to the one of the tills, because there was indeed, a large queue waiting. There was nobody at this till, I thought I was to follow him, so I asked him to please price up the item. Haughtily, yet again, he said to go back to the end of the queue and wait for a price. I could not believe his attitude for such a simple request. Employing him is doing the company no favours at all, I am afraid. All I wanted was the price of some weed killer! Shame on the Company and shame on the Store Manager for employing him.

If you do manage to get in , the aisles in the clothing department are narrow and frequently blocked. This shop is a disabled persons nightmare. The previous two reviews are absolute twaddle - they probably have been written by staff. I have not found staff friendly & efficient - they frequently seem more interested in each other than serving customers. I have visited this shop since it opened - I will NEVER go in again (as I am a carer for an elderly relative who is wheelchair-bound I can not get in anyway). The second thing is the sheer range of things they sell -- every time you walk round a corner you think Oh, they sell those here too!. Absolutely appalling customer service…read more I was buying a coat for my Mum and took a picture of it to send to her. The guy came over and was verbally abusive, raising his voice and physically blocking me from the clothing. He started accusing me of trying to buy it cheaper online, and when I tried to explain myself he spoke over me and shouted me down. I can see a number of reviews of the same thing, so I now know he's known for doing this. I couldn't understand why he became so abusive so quickly so I looked it up and sure enough, Regatta are selling their Begonia II for £34.95 whereas his is £57. He's obviously struggling to compete and things are tough right now, but that is not how you treat you others, especially when you need their custom.

However, they're the only proper fabric shop in Knaresborough, and this is where I would buy fabric and trimmings from when I was first beginning to sew. The selection is small, but the ladies working here are ever so helpful and very pleasant. They've usually got quite a bit of unusual buttons and such that you wouldn't find in a more mainstream fabric shop. A great resource if you don't fancy going into Harrogate or York to pick up basic fabric or thread.

I go in occasionaly and I find half their stuff quite nice and fashionable and half of it a little too mature for me personally. I think, over all, Evans is a great ladies clothes shop and offers something different to a lot of the other high street clothes shops.

At the back of the store there is a table with an assortment of cakes and tea. The BEST part is wandering up the spiral staircase to scour through the antiques. It's a small selection, but but there are some really nice finds!! There are tons of vintage shops in London, but I've never found anything that I really wanted to buy until I arrived in York. Maybe bc the market in London is extremely saturated, I feel like a lot of the stuff is cool but not enough for me to buy. I picked up a beautiful teacup and saucer set, and a little wool coin purse, though I didn't have room to get a teapot /creamer /sugar bowl set for only £12!! Also some beautiful 30s slinky metal purses, just not affordable for me. Le sigh!! Anyway, this store is a 15 min walk from the centre but its worth it to pop in and browse.

There are also some pretty non-card items - including lots of colorful-looking types of candy - and there are a few tables at the back, where you can buy delicious-looking dessert items & tea/etc.

Unlike the previous reviewer, I don't like this TK Maxx! I found it to be far too hot inside (too…read moremuch glass maybe?) and a bit cramped. Despite Harrogate being a lovely town, the store was still a bit too messy for my liking, and parking is a real issue - you have to park in the main car park and walk (fine, unless you've just filled a couple of trolleys with bargains!). I have never found anything in Harrogate TKM that has excited me, perhaps because the folks in the town are that little bit more knowledgeable and grab the designer bargains as they know what they are. Still well worth a visit though.
