I reached out to Planet of The Inks based upon their Yelp reviews. They did not disappoint! I submitted my order 3 days before I wanted to pick the shirts up. My order was accidentally missed, but they made up for it by turning an order for 6 custom t-shirts around in a day. This is after having issues with matching the design I wanted, since I couldn't provide the original image/design file for my logo. Pick-up was extremely easy, ample parking, etc; and, the pricing and customer service were also great!! The shirts were a hit!! In fact, I've ordered more. Man, I'm really glad everyone else had a great experience with this place, but I just had a terrible one. What should have been a simple transaction started Tuesday: I need the attached graphic on a black women's large t-shirt for a costume before Saturday, can you do that? 18 emails later wherein it appears basic communication is impossible for them, I write them Friday asking when it's going to be ready. No response. No one picks up the phone there ever. And now I'm stupidly running around town buying cheap Avery iron-on transfer paper and trying to find an inkjet printer and hoping this works. The confusion? They'd sent an invoice but it had the wrong t-shirt brand listed (I need a relaxed fit brand so the image doesn't warp when it stretches, and the brand they listed was a tight-fitting one). Once I clarified the brand/fit I needed, I asked three separate times if I should just pay the old invoice or if they wanted to send a new one, and he clearly replied that they needed to send me a revised invoice, which never came. On Friday I asked again when the invoice was coming and when the shirt would be ready and they just replied 'we already sent you an invoice' (the one they said not to pay). I've seen a lot of shoddy customer service communication before but I swear this one takes the cake. For such a simple transaction to turn into a clusterf**k is just ridiculous. read more

I've been working with Darren since he had a shop on Capitol Hill, and i was so happy when i found out he opened a place much closer to me. it's really difficult to find someone who will print just a few items at a time. He offers an affordable, quality product and clearly takes great pride in his work. Plus he's just so nice (which probably isn't a reason to get your shirts printed. but it's definitely helpful). I have recommended him to colleagues and i'll definitely be back. I usually try to let him know to make sure he's okay with drop off/pick up times. Let's support local businesses! I called up Planet of the Inks looking for a t-shirt as part of a Valentines gift. As promised they came through with exactly what I asked for. However, I ordered the wrong size, so I was in a pickle come Friday February 13th. I called up Darren (who I believe is the founder) again asking if he could make the same shirt in a different size on Saturday February 14th. He went out of his way to make it happen and again came through with a great shirt/gift. On a personal level, I really appreciated the care he put into my customer experience! I placed an order for 2 customed t- shirts. Several emails were sent with the print and color agreement complete to my satisfaction. It was specifically stated that the shirts would be worn on large busted women an XL and a 2XL that would require that the lettering for both shirts to start up closer to the collar of the shirt. That way the lettering would be visible and not up under the bosom. This was the main reason for going to this "Custom" shop. My order was placed within my 3 week wait deadline. I was not in a hurry for these quality shirts and I had no idea what the technicalities would be to create the shirts. When I received my invoice, I went in person to pay....I was able to go over the design again as laid out over emails. I was able to explain again the importance of where the design should start in "measurements" from the collar. I was given an estimate on pick up time which was a week out. When I checked back....2 weeks later from initial payment /agreement...I received email for pickup at a specific time in the same day. I was met before entering the office with my t-shirts bagged and ready, handed to me on the stairwell. I opened my items in the hallway.......I am completely disappointed....The designs were different from the agreement. Because I was met in the hallway with the items, I felt uncomfortable to enter the business to discuss my dissatisfaction. Having given Planet of the Inks 2 weeks to do 2 shirts....it is now too late for corrections or to wait on reprints. I will not use this service again. read more
