I have eaten here twice now with my friend from Norwalk who is not a foodie and likes the familiar, so on her suggestion we went. The first time was for take out, a chicken parm sub, meatball sub, and a small cheese pizza. The chicken parm was burnt in spots and was very dry. There was not enough sauce on either sub. Pizza was o.k. but nothing to write home about. Second vist we dined in. Dirty tables and lots of flies buzzing around. Again, the chicken parm sub for my friend and the complaint was it was very dry, not enough sauce, and the cheese was not even melted. I got the pasta fagiloi soup served in a giant wooden bowl which was strange. The soup was sub par from a can. Pizza slice ok, but the overall quality of the dishes were low, while the prices were comparable to other places with much higher quality ingredients and much better taste. Only Pepsi and no Coke products, although they do have Foxon Park. Parking in strip mall area shared with other businesses. I will not be returning. read more

Have been going to Planet Pizza Main Ave for several years most recently I had ordered a Sicilian pie with sausage and onions. The pie arrived at my house at a good reasonable time. Apparently the pie wasn't even warm and I was looking for the sausage on it for $40 you should be able to see the sausage. It was like pepper grains. Very disappointed. I don't know what change there but when Lucas was working there, everything was great up until yesterday. Did not have the time to return the pie. I am recovering from surgery. read more

Usually the one thing you can count one with Planet is reliability. It's not going to be the best, but it will always be good and the service will be reliable. Unfortunately that was not the case today. Lucas the manager offered to replace the spilled wings, but the reality is the whole order was a disaster. I was so excited when I got invited to try their pizza! Not just any pizza, but Halloween pizza!! Everyone was so nice when I got there. The menu was huge. They offer everything from pizza to wings to burgers to large dinner entrees. They also offer desserts such as cheesecake and a party of drinks. Everything was so delicious!! Ripoff alert price gouging for pizza! I ordered a slice of pizza with mushrooms. The menu board says $3.75 but when I paid they wanted $4.56 so I questioned being charged more than .75 cents for tax and that's when they stumbled in their words...busted They said that their menu was incorrect (so change the menu) and the the register rang it up at a higher amount I outright refused to pay that amount, the man was annoyed that questioned them but I also mentioned Truth in Menu laws, all of which is being ignored. I have been very pleased with the service at Planet Pizza. The food and service is impressive. It's hard to find a good meatball parm and theirs is delicious. The staff is attentive, friendly. They accidentally left cookies off of the order for the kids. When I called them about it, they were apologetic and came back to deliver them within minutes. This shows they truly care about their customers. What truly impressed me was the balance between portion size and quality. Delivery service is truly disappointing. When you call to inquire about your food being 40 minutes late, all you get is a vague promise that it's on the way and will be hot soon. Yet, what I received was cold food after the long wait--such terrible service and absolutely unhelpful assistance. Basically a chain type of spot or a fast food-y pizza. The type of pizza I used to get in the cafeteria for lunch back in junior high. Yeah, that type of pizza. While it's still burning hot it's masking that bland and whatever flavor but once the pizza cools off you are transported right back to your junior high cafeteria days. Plus, it's oily. Extremely oily. Who said there was a deficit of oil. Or supply shortages of anything. My dad also pointed out the Extremely weird, if not ghoulish decor of the planet of the pizzas. I can only assume the owners had in mind Haloween or more specifically those scary 80s movies when they interior designed the place. The food and staff at Planet Pizza are top quality. Don't let the name fool you, the menu is huge and there is something for EVERYONE. We have used them for catering for everything from luncheons to dinners to most recently a High School Banquet for 200 guests. Good pizza, great staff, nice variety on the menu. I have ordered the grilled shrimp wrap from here I think 4 times in 2 weeks! It's amazing and I think it's my favorite thing on the menu. Grilled shrimp, avocado, tomato, lettuce, tartar sauce. Everything is FRESH. The eggplant parm sub is my second favorite. I'm conflicted on this review. The food had good flavor but there were flaws. The two turkey subs were FILLED with meat but bone dry. And no condiments were included. My wrap was ordered sans cheese and was delicious. However, my stomach was on fire after eating (cannot handle lactose) so there was something in it, unless the fries had cheese (?!) The greek salad was yummy and the pizza had good flavor. But I got charged a 4% convenience fee. For what? I ordered in store and waited to bring it home with me. Hello, Food, and service was excellent. I was just a little annoyed by the sound of the music. A band was playing to entertain guests but their speaker was just too loud so guests sitting at the tables far away from the band couldn't have a conversation. I am a sixty year old man who was there to celebrate and we couldn't talk to each other at our table. Then when I had to use the restroom there were people blocking the access to the restroom because they were enjoing the band, I repeatedly said "excuse me" and asked them to move, but because of the volume of the music they couldn't hear anything and took quite a while to move. This repeated as I returned, on my way out of the restroom back to my table. The women saw me, but the man blocking my path, didn't see me, or hear me say anything. I said "excuse me" several times, but the music overpowered me. Per haps there might be a better location to position bands, and lower their sound levels to allow everyone to enjoy their dinner, their conversations, and maybe customers would be able to comfortably make an easy trip to the restroom. Again, the food was all fantastic, and the service people were all super. I just felt the sound levels from the band was just a little too high for the design of that restaurant where it would would reverberate to the walls making it harder for everyone to enjoy their conversations and meals . It is unfortunate that this place can't get it correct with their deliveries. I have given them ample opportunities to fix their errors with each time I order but it still does not resolve. Every time I order, the pizza is rarely at an edible temperature (we always have to heat it up) and something is ALWAYS missing. Quality control is lacking here. The last time I called I URGED the individual on the phone to please implement a check off the receipt system because this has happened to me way too many times and it is def happening to other customers as well. He told me it was because they were slammed with orders that these issues happen sometimes. This was the same reason I got the other several times I had called in to ask about what happened to my order. I was offered a $3 dollar credit that time with apologies. Lo and behold, I try again and the same thing occurs. A 70 min delivery time, cold pizza and - you guessed it another missing item later, I call and was told that the delivery professional left the item in the car and is going to bring it back. Seriously?!? I'm shocked. Amazing in every way. I got a chicken dish and it came with spaghetti. It was soooo tasty. Huge portion. The chicken had brown sauce with spinach and mozzarella and it was the best I have had in the entire state! Pasta was fantastic too and loved the red sauce. I have to honest, when my friend suggested this place for takeout, I was disappointed. There are tons of Planet Pizza locations in CT, and I've never once come to any before. There is so much good pizza in CT, and I try to stay away from chains (try being the keyword). I picked up a large pizza, half meatball, hot boneless buffalo wings with extra ranch (for me), and a 2-liter diet soda (for him). The price was $30, which seemed a little high, but I don't typically get wings or soda, so I don't have a good comparison. I drove home thinking I just spent $34 (with tip) on pizza that I'm going to hate. However, I was wrong - yep, I said it. The pizza was high quality and delicious. I especially liked the meatball topping. Also, I don't have wings too often, but these were hot and delicious. Thank you for the extra ranch, there was more than enough. This planet pizza is on Main Street, in the same plaza as Starbucks and Massage Envy. I can only speak to the high quality and taste of their pizza and wings, but I was quite impressed. read more
