Texas Tech Federal Credit Union - Ravenwood Branch Lobby

Texas Tech Federal Credit Union

Probably the best and most popular credit union in town. I've always wanted to diversify my savings…read moreand investments portfolio by adding a credit union to the mix. My grandparents have been customers for years and gave me the family referral necessary to start banking here. It takes just $5 to open a checking account or a savings account. You can do both with $5 in each. This enables you to get a credit card (with credit approval of course). All great resources if you're a student at Tech. They also have great savings and investment/CD rates. This branch is convenient for the south side of town, and their remote teller ATMs are unique and efficient. This is a great credit union.

I've gotten a personal loan and a car loan through them previously and made payments diligently on time for years. I applied for a personal loan trying to pay off a high interest credit card- thought this is what credit unions are useful for instead of big banks. I was denied and the loan officer could care less or try to help me figure something out- my previous loan officer was so helpful and went above and beyond to help - and was successful- this new one is very cold and not customer service oriented. I even had a co-signer that has an amazing credit score and a paid off house and paid off cars. Hope this credit union can go back to caring about their customers. I will be finding a new one to move my business to and will definitely not recommend TTUFCU to people when they ask online who to use.

My husband and I bought our 1st home & financed with Alliance. We were well prepared with great…read morecredit & a great down payment that I would say isn't very common, so we were ideal customers. Our loan officer, Tyler, was very helpful at the beginning and offered us a very competitive rate, so we closed with Alliance. Although, after we closed, we had trouble receiving responses from Tyler and his team. A few weeks after closing, we had the very simple question of asking if we were able to opt out of our escrow account. I texted Tyler since this was our previous way of communicating prior to closing. He let me know he'd find out and never followed up. No big deal. I followed up again via text & would get left on read. I then proceeded to email Tyler & Courtney (I believe loan assistant?). No response either. I continued texting and got left on read again and again. I finally decided to call Courtney and she was able to give me an answer after our mortgage had already been sold. This was a small issue that I found unprofessional, but not the biggest one. A little over a month after we closed, I got a call from the title company saying the insurance company didn't accept a payment because we didn't have an active home policy with them. I was confused as we had paid all closing cost & had all our home insurance in good shape. After investigating with the insurance company, I found out they hadn't received the home insurance payment and we were starting to be sent letters for the outstanding payment. For context, I had an insurance policy set a couple weeks before closing, then got a better quote from another company and sent all the paperwork to Tyler of the new policy & confirmed via email & text all the paperwork a week before closing. Everything was sent in a timely manner, so that wasn't an issue. Come to find out, the lender's team sent the title company the insurance information of the cancelled insurance policy and sent a check to them. The insurance company cashed the check. Once I put all the puzzle pieces together, I had to get ahold of Tyler and Nate (insurance agent of the cancelled policy) to see what we had to do to get the money back from the erroneously cashed check and get it to the lender, so they could get it to the title company, to then get it sent to the correct insurance company. I never received an apology from anybody on the lender's team for this mistake. This was the frustrating situation because we paid all the fees for the mortgage to make sure all our information was sent correctly to all parties without any hassles. Having to do all the investigating on my end was time consuming and stressful when it could have been prevented if the loan officer & their team had better communication. I also did not feel taken care of by the Alliance team I worked with for not taking ownership of this mistake that could have ended really bad and by ignoring my multiple attempts to get answers to questions. I hope this review reaches the right leadership to communicate my concerns & hope no other customers feel like just a monetary transaction like I have after not being helped to the standard I had believed Alliance to have.

So we pulled in to this Edward Jones parking lot. Next to signs that say Edward Jones Parking. We…read morewere looking to start investing and saw some good investments and wanted information. Anna pulls up in her car and tells us we have to move our car because she wanted to park in our spot. With 2 other parking spots this person forced us to move our car. Instead of just parking in 1 of the other 2 spots. Mind you the office was closed so we were waiting for it to open. Then as I am taking pictures she comes out of the office to try and start another fight yelling at my wife. My wife asked her to step away from our car as our child was in the car, and she kept on going. Yelling I can be here its a public place. Not letting us leave. Never invest here. Take your money to Merrill Lynch where they are happy to have you as a customer and not a place that is more concerned about a parking spot.
